Love this new style of “have a go” content. You’re braver than me delving into the V to do the starter motor!! You might find white/ lithium grease is best for the roof workings, after a sympathetic clean up of what’s there. You could just add the grease but if there is already plenty of debris in the rails/grooves and windings, it’ll just end up binding together. (As i found out in a Halfords car park in the 90s in my XR4x4 lol)
this new content is great, watching unle benji do these jobs and repairs for the first time makes it relatable for weekend mechanics all over the place. too bad doris isnt showing his face as much lately but benji you're doing a fine job keeping us entertained mate. cheers!
Mega bargain, Ben you are awesome but we need both ouf you mate. Get Lee involved a bit he needs to put his multimillion pound business to one side and focus on this 😂
Clean all the runners with a brush, sponge, and some warm soapy water. Then apply silicon grease with a brush on the contact points, and runners. The spray silicone doesn't last for the runners but you can use it on the rubber edges (wipe the excess off). Good luck, it looks good. 👍🏼
How’s it going boys, the body kit on it is an Xclusive Customz Body Kit, great company to work with theyre based in South Yorkshire. You got that for a steal, looks great and keep up the work!!
Well done Ben, great sense of achievement when you fix something yourself. Noted the absence of Lee lately, hope he's well and everything is good. Look forward to the next one. 🙌
Loving the Cayenne content and take a bow Benji for doing the starter motor that was more than I could ever do. Its actually a decent car this and once painted should be a nice profit for the channel if/when sold.
Benji, fancy doing an oil drop and filter change on my Land Rover Disco Sport? It's all LR server history until now but I'm ready to make the swap and only an hours drive from ya!
Diving in at the deep end, love it! Can't beat learning on the fly. Definitely clean out the runners on the sunroof, and re lube them. Worst case scenario, it could be the motor wearing out. At total layman, no heirs and graces, just real life.
Well in Ben, great work 💪😎 had a wee laugh when you panned to the leaves in the inlet, kinda thing that would happen to me in the early days of car diy 😆
Well done lad! I’d be cleaning the roof slider, maybe use some APC and one of your detailing brushes. They do a “dry lube” as well, use it on machinery. It stops the grease staying sticky and attracting more rubbish to get stuck in it.
Having the right tool is very important. Unfortunately the biggest tool is you 😂 In all seriousness though well done for having a go 👍 I do wish that Lee would have let the air out though after you left just to see the confused look on your face 😂
I do love a cayenne, nearly bought the missis one, but didn’t have the 7 seat option. So bought an X5 instead. Better content when your working on them that’s for sure.
The white grease is called Lithium Grease and thats what you want , cycle shops also sell it we use it on bikes to stop the seat post sticking to the frame when you raise or lower the seat height. Keep it away from rubber stuff.
For the money they’ll spend repairing it they could have bought a nicer one with lower miles and less issues but also less content so it’s swings and roundabouts, this thing is clapped
Cracking video Uncle Benji. There’s something about these old Porker’s it’s gonna be a cracking one when you’ve done all the work on it. Regarding the sunroof give it a good clean especially the rails(grooves) and the windings. Then I’d use something like Liqui-moly 3312 silicone grease. Give the glass a good clean too.
Those first gen cayenne are proper off roaders. This one will be unique as the survivors will mostly be overland style. You could do with keeping it when you’re finished
"WD40 White Lithium grease". Id lube up all the mechanism, as well as the rails. Hope it works. Im no mechanic but I did fix my Mrs's Mini's spoiler all that needed was lube.
Hi mate I have had a few cars where the Pan roof struggles. Its usually that the rubber seals have gone hard and thats what restricts it. I used WD40 silicon spray on the rubbers. Let it soak for an hour then operate the roof a coupe of times and should be alot better. Theres also a product called Gummi-phlege that is reccomended for car rubbers. Thank me later :)
Lithium grease is usually petroleum based, if its got petroleum in its usually best not to use on rubber as it will cause decay. Liqui Moly 3312 Silicon-Grease is a good one for seals
@@p3147-u9d ah true, you are correct. if there is rubber then silicone is the correct one. the lithium would work well for doing any metal parts or struts in there though
The exclamation mark on the dash could just be because of low fuel. It’s a generic “attention” marker and not necessarily an error indicator. There fuel light is on the digital screen next to the gear indicator so a bit of fuel should hopefully sort that out 👍
Awesome work Benji. When are you taking bookings? My motor could do with a service. Oh we’re is Dorris? Is he off on his jollies to buy a new replica coat? 😉😜
Hey mate love this project! I have a 957 so it’s really nice to see videos on these first gen cayennes. The smell your experiencing could be the drains. Apparently cayennes with pan roofs have drains and they could’ve clogged and that’s the smell your experiencing. Get those flushed and that should help the smell. Keep up the good work! And when this is eventually up for sale I’d be interested! 😝
Good job lad. Living the dream with the unit! I think id suggest getting an air compressor and in future use it for at least blowing all the shit away before opening the engine, followed by vacuuming just to be on the safe side.Good on you though I hope it felt like a really nice accomplishment because its takes balls to crack on like you did.
Wow !!!!! goooo Benji!!! well done Ben, awesome work! that starter motor was a task in itself, it's gonna cost you a fortune to buy all the frames for your certificates the way your going mate 👍😁
Surely these cayennes will only go up from the price of em today, I know maintenance is an issue- BUT this the first 4x4 Porsche ever did. Think of how much an mkl 911 is today.
Suspension, sunroof, starter and cleaning in one episode... Benji, the certificates are piling up mate! Keep it coming.

Brilliant to see you working on the cars yourself, makes for some great content
Well done you man, saved yourself a fortune 👏.
this new content is great, watching unle benji do these jobs and repairs for the first time makes it relatable for weekend mechanics all over the place. too bad doris isnt showing his face as much lately but benji you're doing a fine job keeping us entertained mate. cheers!
Haha Doris needs to pay for his house and McLaren and keep the funding coming in for projects so we need to forgive him for his absence 😅
Mega bargain, Ben you are awesome but we need both ouf you mate. Get Lee involved a bit he needs to put his multimillion pound business to one side and focus on this 😂
Getting that matt Armstrong kinda vibe now, channels going from strength to strength, still a belter that car for £2k. Smashing it lads 💪
71k subs you lads are on fire 🚀🚀
Where's Doris these days? It's like your running the channel all by yourself! Keep up the good work Benji
Great job, don't worry about the exclamation mark on the dash, it just comes on when fuel is getting low.
Glad the content is coming thick and fast again . First thing I stick on when I see an upload . Cheers as always 👌

Porsche Cayenne service and support certificate inbound mate 😂
Nice one 👍
Getting properly stuck in. Fair play mate 👌🏼
Nothing beats that successful feeling when you've never tackled a job before, well done pal, great to see you posting again.
These are great vids. Got any banners for the garage?
Unfortunately not 🤔

Silicon spray is what to use , run the sun roof back and forth a few times. Also works wonders on the windows. The felt drys out.
9:41 I’d try silicone spray.
They use it on telescopic ladders so they slide smoothly and reduce friction

Young Ben is becoming a mechanical Wiz these days..
But can we all admit that you forgot to tighten the pipe properly after replacing the O ring lol
😂

Great effort Uncle Benji💪 You must have some folder of certificates now!
The white grease is called Lithium Grease and thats what you want , cycle shops also sell it we use it on bikes to stop the seat post sticking to the frame when you raise or lower the seat height. Keep it away from rubber stuff.
Still think that car was an absolute bargain

@@snoop35L even really clapped out ones like this change hands for 7k at least. This one so far hasn’t even been that bad mechanically.
ben thats a porsche certificate to go with the collction 👍 keep up the good work, was lee off buying new coat😂👍

finally getting a chance to use all those certificates, well done for having a go.
Hats off to you Ben for replacing that starter motor yourself, you’re a braver man than me 😂
Absolutely loving the content. I'd recommend using white lithium grease on the pan roof, works wonders for sticky/slow electric windows etc 👍🏻
Great job. I like the “Matt Armstrong” style if just getting stuck in to the repairs…..all you need now is a good end credit tune!!!
Those first gen cayenne are proper off roaders. This one will be unique as the survivors will mostly be overland style. You could do with keeping it when you’re finished
You should be a fully fledged mechanic now bud 😅 keep it going and silicone spray or ptfe spray is great for the runners on the roof 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Top effort Benji buddy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Hope Lee is well...🤞🏻🤞🏻
"WD40 White Lithium grease". Id lube up all the mechanism, as well as the rails. Hope it works. Im no mechanic but I did fix my Mrs's Mini's spoiler all that needed was lube.
Rapid Progress made here. Good effort lad. Lee Sitting at home in his mansion enjoying a cuppa seems to help a great deal 😀
Porsche starter motor certificate in the post mate
Well done Ben for having a go, if you watch the early Matt Armstrong videos you can see your doing a great job. 👍🏻🚗

Love these vids. Especially the Porsche cayenne episodes! You guys make everything usually daunting, look very much possible!
Uncle Benjy? Was the the K1 in the background?
Is that ya selfie stick your using to hold bonnet up 😂👌
Uncle benji basically fully qualified vehicle technician now.
Should have given that engine bay a full pressure wash before starting any work in the engine bay!! 🙈
Liqui Moly 3312 Silicon-Grease will be best for your rails / door seals etc. 👍
A really interesting video , really like seeing work being done ok the vehicle improvements well done 👍👍
I see Lee had his mazda out of the garage today. ( podcast mazda )
Good show uncle Benji
Well done Ben. A couple of jobs done there! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Your right it is a white grease, Krytox GPL 205 grease is perfect for sunroofs

Try using trailer curtain spray lube on the sunroof, it’s great stuff and doesn’t let grit or anything stick to it
Fair play for tackling the starter motor 👍 great job

Polish any alloy runners with solvol autosol, this will leave a layer of smooth gliding happiness 😮
One of the best video's you've do lads . . . Well Uncle Benji anyway. Top work mate, keep it up. Looking forward to futures vids just like this.
You're actually getting good at this which is weird
You could be a proficient mechanic by the end of the week!!
Great content Ben, nice to see. Great job on stater motor.
Channelling your inner Mat Armstrong. Top work 👍
What no Lee❓️he skiving again 😂 nice one Ben 👍🏼 👌🏽 👏🏽
Lithium grease is best for the rails on the pan roof,It will keep it lubricated, give them a clean down first👍

Excellent well done mate! Certificate in the post!!!!!🛠🔧⚒😁
That unit is starting to look like Steptoe’s yard!!! Good video pal
Don’t forget the clear the inner wheel arch drain tube ends as they block and the footwells get flooded. Speaking through experience here..
Fair play i sent my 957 gts to the shop for the same issue....soo much car for the money especially with the kit...defo change wheels
Heard this car arrive at Euro Car Parts in Trafford Park where I work. Sounds absolutely amazing 👏
Well done uncle benji, great work mate, can't wait for more👌😁👍🤟💪🤘❤️
Loved it Ben! I’m liking this Porsche, looks beastie 👌🏻

Really enjoyed you having a go yourself and getting things done. Car was so cheap for what it is. 👍
how long for the yaris sr?
Still waiting for a few bits to arrive mate 🤞🏼
Try lithium grease Ben. It’s sprays white and is ideal for sunroofs etc etc. great video by the way 👍👍
Well done for getting stuck in again Ben! Hope Lee is well
Hope you guys are all ok - nice to see you both back on the channel soon with some more video’s… James 🤪
Well done for taking that starter motor on, that’s no a simple Ford style job
Well done Ben , your going to need a fileing cabinet soon to store all your certificates lol 😂 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Is that a good old halfords detailing brush
Absolutely 🤣🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
Slated you guys in the past. Well done for changing tactic and actually picking up a spanner fairplay
Porsche tech now! Good video uncle Benji 😊😊

Yaris update???, I'm actually addicted to this channel now need more videos love them all 🤠🤠
Waiting for a few parts to arrive. Hopefully get one done in the coming weeks bud
You need to fix the front bumper, although they say there’s no fixing ugly😂 Boom boom
Hi Ben! The thing you're looking for to clean up that rail is called WD-40
Great video Benji and well done for fixing it on your own the Porsche was a bargain
Replacing a starter motor benje capable
Great video ,you did well on the mechanical work great content 👍👍👍👍
Surely these cayennes will only go up from the price of em today, I know maintenance is an issue- BUT this the first 4x4 Porsche ever did. Think of how much an mkl 911 is today.
I use to put white chain lubricant on my 996 targa roof at least 3 times a year
Way to go Uncle Benji! 🙌 Being a total ass-clown with any this kind of work myself, I really envy your courage and mechanical skills!
You need lithium grease for that roof, it's what I use! Also clean out the whole mechanism.
You need to get some Porsche badges back on it on the front and back
