Frank, I watch everyone of your videos, often multiple times. Honestly this one was a bit long, but nice to see the detailed process all the way through. As someone who has never done wood turning, this video gave me a much better sense of the effort involved. As always the framing and camera work is superb.
And I want to go on record and state, if you release a 3.5 hour video of you sitting in a lawn chair rambling about whatever, I would enjoy that video as well. I love your narration in your videos.

Having the wrong jaws on the chuck is so real. It's so refreshing to see someone with your expertise and skill say they still run into that problem, it's something I feel like I always come right up against. This has been a refreshing video, getting to see your whole process. It makes me feel a lot better about when I have to go slower in the early steps of a project.

I wouldnt watch a 3-4 hour video every week or two if they were uploaded on that schedule, but every now and then, once every month or so, you just sit down to do a project and have nothing to keep your mind engaged, and this is perfect. I wont watch this video now, but when that project comes up, I know what i'm searching for. Your videos are always a delight for the overly edited, high effort you put in to making the stop motion/sound effects etc. Thanks for trying new things!!

I have a few observations/suggestions if you're open to feedback.
    - You seem competent and confident with your chainsaw. You could cut the cheek of the log to flatten the bottom of your blank before you get to the band saw.
    - You used a compass to draw your circle. Why not use that as your guide to cut the blank round? The circle jig seemed to slow you down more than it helped.
    - You use a lot of pull cuts where it seems like a push cut would be more effective and cut cleaner. Riding the bevel during your push cuts will provide support and give you a smooth, more consistent cut. This goes for both the inside and outside of the bowl.

  • @paullane8798

The circle jig might be easier to align the pin to the hole if you assemble it upside down and screw the jig to the cutoff section of the log. This means you would not need to hold a heavy log to allign.

I like to work outside in to center. Leave as much mass in the middle prevent movement of outside rim. The more you take away from center mass, the less structure the rim has and it will move. That's the click-click-click (@2:10.32) you hear after it has moved. You'll never get a smooth cut after that point - resort to hand sanding.
