Around 1:50 when you said, let's go for the not so obvious solution ... But I never played this, so I have no bragging rights, only after the fact "might have knowns". ... not to mention the thought was triggered by something you said. So who knows if it would ever have consciously popped up in my mind in the first place.

Such nice pieces, all just the right length for the tray's width, and enticingly square cut at each end. But OMG that idea for how they really fit ... indeed, diabolical.
Are they? This one was, which I found satisfying. But frequently I’m disappointed that the solutions are not elegant, that after all that work it’s just “getting it to fit” but with no aesthetic or clever payoff. or maybe I just don’t see it.
@@hopegold883 Check out Chris Ramsay's channel for more like these, where there are clever solutions like obvious corner pieces needing to be rotated, or different colours seeming to signify a pattern that has nothing to do with the solution. His videos highlight the beauty of the pieces too. Some have lovely colours, transparencies, etc. Anyway, they appeal to me, but I just can't do them!

omg this would be such a great gift for my partner! He loves spatial orientation stuff, and is insanely skilled at fitting and packing things together. (You should've seen our moving truck! We had so much empty space because he packed it so efficiently x'D) Such a clever solution, fun video! :)

I like to do puzzles that are easy enough that they are fun and take me away from the normal stress of life, not something that would make me want to bang my head on the table in frustration. I would have wanted to take a hammer and chisel to this puzzle!
I like Katie's first solution of getting out a scroll saw for this diabolical puzzle! I do NOT have the patience for these kinds of puzzles. I have a hard enough time with 1000pc puzzles!!! Kudos to you both in solving this puzzle!
I tried to solve this at a friend's board game night a few months ago and could NOT for the life of me, so I feel so validated seeing THE Karen Puzzles struggle with it too haha :D

I don't know how, but I saw the solution almost immediately. My diabolical puzzle was an old Egyptian box I got years ago. I have forgotten the solution and misplaced an answer paper. It took me almost 3h to complete!
It was really cool to see how identical your approaches were! You had the exact same thoughts and reasonings. It was also really frustrating to see both of you completely skip experimenting with the vertical options, because I couldn't help but wonder if it might have been double/triple trick and the somewhat obvious solution was right. (looking at the final solution, it might even have given a hint?)

Diabolical! In proof based math sometimes I have to just keep trying and trying like this for a problem. Sometimes I give up and come back months later and figure a problem out.
Have you ever done the springbok vertical world puzzles? I started one that my campground had and thought you’d probably like them! They’re really busy and have lots of word clues, and are an uncommon dimension
Diabolical. Great video 😄 I really enjoyed it. I've never tried such a brain teaser before but I did piece together a puzzle (1k pieces) in which 650 pieces are edge pieces. That was really challenging... Anyway, it's nice to see Katie in your videos ☺
Cooking has definitely been a diabolical challenge at times 😅 I would consider myself a home chef now, but still, when I’m trying a new recipe or new technique for the first time, I often get pretty bad results, or I have a really difficult time making good results (restarting things, using too many pans, etc.). But over time if I keep on making it again and again and again, eventually I master that recipe and can make it fairly easy and with a good margin of success! Maybe that’s more of a “practice makes permanent” story than a “perseverance” story but 🤷🏻♀️
*tries diagonal with one piece doesn’t work and decides it cannot be diagonal* *tries every possible horizontal and vertical combination 3x over and still thinks that’s more likely* 😂 It’s ok though, team work makes the dream work and you guys got it eventually!
Off topic, but just like a puzzle life can be a challange, where we meet stumbling blocks and have to try and try again but somehow we make it through :)

Breaking the pieces into smaller pieces makes the puzzle really easier.
