Hi, I had to check out some of your videos too. And they are really stylish and sensual. Great music too. Thanks for your comment. Mads, the camera guy and editor is the brain behind the effort. You two seems to share a sense of music and videoediting. I would like to see the videos you make in Norway. Welcome :)
I was in Oslo in 1970, my favorite stop on a trip to Europe. If you can imagine, two of us spent $1,000 for about 8 weeks. In Scandinavia, we camped, with a tiny tent, in the cities.I wonder if it is still possible to camp in the cities. We were lucky to have a VW square back which we picked up in Germany. We did the "tourist" things but some of them were worth doing. The Vigeland park is the only place in the world to see these sculptures. I still have the massive book about his work. We went to the top of the ski jump; definitely a tourist place but the only time I will know what it feels like to be perched on the top of a ski jump. My most fond memory is sitting on the edge of a pier, eating shrimp from boats which were tied up there. Are the shrimp boats still there? I have just found your videos and am enjoying them immensely. I will probably not visit Oslo again, but these memories - the pictures in my mind - will last as long as I do. Thank you...from the San Francisco bay.
Thank you so much for the video! Looks like you worked really hard to make it and it is awesome! Can you please have songs in norsk next time so will know a little bit about the music? Hope to see more of your videos.
Such a nice comment. So happy that you notice our effort. Thanks! If we knew some more Norwegian artists, we would. Due to copyright issues, we have to stick with Niilas - the dj / mixer of this music. He is Norwegian, also creates his own songs - which we have used several times. We love him very much! Chech him out on Soundcloud. Shout out to Niilas :)
This is the Oslo I remember. Delicious sunshine and everyone enjoying it to the fullest. Absolutely love this video, though I was hoping for a view of the main plaza by the fjord where we spent so many hours.
I learned a lot about Islo, Norway when it was featured in yesterday's episode of NHK World TV SOMEWHERE STREET. It's a lovely place, the people , food , a little bit of history... most of all it was great knowing that there is a real Santa who gets tremendous amounts of letters from all over the world esp. from children writing their Christmas wishes, etc.. I love Norway 💖
Omg Ronald this is so great. I love when Iocals recommend stuff from their own country. And it's not easy to find that kind of videos. Usually tourists are filming their experience from trips. I love this non touristy recommendations.
I think all us YOURWAY2NORWAY subscribers should chip in and put our pennies together to buy Ronald a bike, Oslo is to big of a city for just a mere 45 minutes to borrow a bike, we call them ‘Boris bikes’ in England, the peeing lady statue too, brilliant but also peacefully iconic in this video, I look profoundly forward to my visit to this beautiful country! ✌🏻🤗
This is a awesome nice and touching comment. Thanks a lot Gary :) And yes, I hate the 45 minute rule (love the name Boris Bikes btw). I do not have a driver license, so bike and public transport are my means of arrival. That's why I have my own bike. So cool to hear your thoughts on the peeing lady - agree 100% with you. If you come to Oslo, pleas let us know. Welcome to Norway, hope to talk to you soon again :)
Hi, this is the first time ever writing a comment on youtube but just wanted to tell you how much me and my wife enjoy watching your videos. We stumbled on your video on how to survive Oslo on a budget and didn't stop watching. We'll be visiting Oslo in just a few days and this video couldn't have been posted at a better time. We love your tips and look forward to seeing and going to some of the places you've shown in your videos. Thanks for all the tips you sporty guy!
+jia wei chen Thanx a lot for the warm words (and stunned by the fact your first comment on TH-cam is adressed us!). Hope you will enjoy Norway. The map for the route is at our Facebook page, the same name as the channel.. Hitting that link will give you a detailed route :)
Thank you so much, we'll definitely do that. Got any suggestions on trying out some of the more exotic foods Norway has to offer? for instance, whale? would you have any recommendations on places to go or any Norwegian must tries while there? You should totally do a video on the more exotic/traditional foods Norway has to offer. I loved the video you guys did on matpakke and tran. Those thanks to you will be on my todo list while we're there =)
Hehe, I am afraid Tran and Matpakke is the most exotic food we have ;) No, not totally true. But unfortunally our diet has become very "american", so hot dogs and frozen pizza are the most populare dishes. When it comes to whale, try search for Lofoten Restaurant Oslo. They are from the North of Norway. Whale is much more commen there, than in Oslo. Maybe you can get reindeer as well. Wish you a pleasent stay here. If you see me in the streets, Oslo is a small city, dont hesitate to say hello!!
hello from oslo! been here since Monday and am very confused lol I haven't seen tran in the super market and remembering your video on how to get help from Norwegians' and being a new yorker I fully get that video but I've had someone ask if I needed any help by simply looking confused or lost at least twice already by Norwegians! you guys are so friendly it's almost weird lol i certainly appreciate all the help from all the kind local norwegians though since making sense of the subway/tram/bus when all i have is the map i got from the tourist info place is pretty difficult. still having a hard time finding banks or ATMs been avoiding 711 like you said but was told that's where I should look for ATMs. Norway's been wonderful and lovely. haven't had the pleasure of bumping into you guys filming but if I do, I certainly will say hello! we ended up staying in the east end so maybe the chances are good =) we've already tried a not so norwegian matpakke, we probably put way too much of everything but did get everything you've mentioned. brown cheese, deli meat, kaviar ( I didn't know what I was buying so just got any tube. not crazy about it but maybe I just got the wrong flavor. we love the brown cheese! by the way what do the numbers mean ln the tube? Hi Ronald, What a green city Oslo. I liked so much Oslo. You are super, video is speed and nice. My next visit may be Norway. When I visit Oslo I will watch your video again.
Your videos are so entertaining. I love them! I have an interest in Norwegian and have been studying it for a while. (Not that I can speak it at all. I don't actually know any Norwegian speakers, so I can't really practice.) I would love to see a video that focuses on the language. Cool expressions and sayings maybe. Thanks for the videos!
I've enjoyed watching your videos. My in-laws lived in Norway for a couple of years on Bygdoy. I would have loved your advice in 2013 when we went to visit them. I did see the Viking Ship Museum, so I particularly enjoyed your Viking video. We were there in the summer and did the Norway in a Nutshell tour. We spent a few days in Bergen as well. It was beautiful to just walk around the places we stayed and visited, but, as you said, everything was incredibly expensive compared with what I am used to.
I love your videos! You crack me up! I visited Norway years ago and got to see "The Scream" at the museum just before it had gotten stolen. You have a beautiful country!
Vigelundsparken is AMAZING if you are a fan of art, sculpture and human behaviour!!! I spent almost a whole day once it is one of my very favourite spots in Oslo and the world... So offended 😃. I shall stamp my feet like Sinnataggen aka the Angry Boy 🤣🤣 so your challenge is to make it seem interesting!! 💖 love your work ... Jules
Hi Ronald, Loved your fabulous city of Oslo and your video. Saw everything you filmed and much more. The Walking Woman is sensational and instead of taking the train up to the woods, I walked it a couple of times and it was easy and fast from the Opera House. You're so cool, loved the music and thank you from a New Yorker.
Agree 100 % with you on the Walking Woman. She makes an impact you cant forget! (We did not have time to film her that day..) Your comment make us humble and motivated. We love the fact you took the trail and and had a nice stay here. Thanks a lot Joanne DiMauro. Hope to talk to you soon. Say hello to New York from us :)
I actually really like Aker Brygge... I go to Oslo often to speak at a conference which is at the conference center there (Felix). I love to people watch from there. Also, the ferries, city hall, and the Nobel museum. I often stay near the cathedral and walk through the fortress to Aker Brygge. I like to catch the ferry to Hovedøya to see the ruins and to sit on the quiet little beach there. I actually enjoy Vigeland Park... especially the more quiet areas. My very first visit to Olso was in October (though I now mostly am there in June) and walking through the park with all the autumn leaves was amazing! I am hoping that our in-person events come back and I can get back to Oslo again. I will venture more to the east side next time (I've never been east of the Opera House)... and check out the "other" sculpture park. Thanks!
You are so adorable!!! I would love to visit Norway, and have you as my tour guide. I love all of your videos. I also love that you have something for everyone. You make me smile every time I see your adorable face. ❤️❤️❤️
Hola lili bolivar :) Always nice reading comments from you. Thanks. Yes, we should absolutly visit Bergen. Its a great and beautiful city. Abrazo grande de Y2N team
So happy I can get international food when I visit Norway. in your previous video you made it seem that the cuisine was limited to Norwegian. Nice to have options 🤗🤗🤗
at one point in my life I hated my Norway and Sweden history.... I hated me, I hated family.... today, you are making me change my heart. you are funny and real. thank you.
Dry reindeer heart for snacks every day. And finnbiff for dinner. With Mack Arctic Beer. Northern summer is also about fishing, hunting and eating cod tongue and whale biff.
Another favorite hidden place for me to visit is Emanuel Vigelands Mausoleum. I find it to calming to go inside and slowly see what is inside as your eyes adjust to the dark.
Hey Ronald!! I was in Oslo from 5th June to 16th My admission is done is University of Oslo The people were very kind and I also ended up making a few friends Your tips really did work Hope you remember me from earlier comments Keep up the good work!
Hei Fnm - so nice to hear from you again. Yes, I remeber you :) I am so happy to hear that life in Norway was okey for you. And humble to read that our videos helped you a little bit when staying in Oslo. Thats the purpose of our work here. Wish only the best for you in the future. Please keep watching and commenting Fnm!
Amazing tour to the Sculpture park, I was there ending winter and it was completely different, many attractions were not sean... I have to go there again
We will probably make more Oslo videos. I love the colours of fall and like you - spring is my favourite! Thanks for your engagement. We really appreciate it Dean :)
nice one, I really like your videos and appreciate the effort behind it. one suggestion though: A route map of the way you followed would have been a nice addition to this video. Cos when you show the map zoomed into a location, a pointer to the exact place would have been super nice....:-)
Hi. Thanks for your nice words. We have embedded the route at our Facebook page - it is called Yourway2Norway (I think it is the second topmost post :)).
Mads, the producer is very focused on having a map. So on our Facebook page - search for yourway2norway - he has posted a more detailed map. And thanks for your comment about the effort we put in it. We really appreciate it, after working with this video for a long time. Especially Mads :)
Great video about all the hidden places, we two adults and three children are doing a road trip by car from London to Oslo and Bergen, could we visit the same places by car and how expensive is it to park and get to all the places you showed here
Thank you for enjoying our video and want to take the route. Some parts of the route at the beginning of the movie, you can drive. When we get to the sea, the road is closed for cars - then you have to walk or ride a bike. The park at the end of the movie is accessible by car and parking. In general, it is difficult or expensive to park in Oslo city center. City Council wants a green and car-free city. But Oslo is a small town with short distances and a good public transport. My suggestion is that you find a car park outside the center core and buy a day pass on public transportation. Then you can both enjoy the route in the video and other places you might find interesting. Welcome to Norway and Oslo :)
Takk for turen! I had been living in Oslo for over six years and now I'm missing it. But I will try to come back. Next time perhaps you could show Nordmarka (or another marka) and how it differs between summertime and wintertime :)
Værsågod. Nice to hear that this video produces great memories. Oslo is always waiting for you. Thanks for the suggestion. Marka is kind of a sacred place for people in Oslo, so we should abseloutly make a video about it. I am kind of a nubie when it comes to Marka - so it would be interesting for me also to explore it for the first time.
One of the things that struck me is that there are many more people around the woods in wintertime than in summertime (if you exclude those parts immediately close to the city). Not in many countries around the world would this happen. Entertaining, smart and nicely edited videos, by the way. I'm a recent subscriber.
So true. Norwegians love to cross contry ski during wintertime. For us its soul and tradition to put on skiis and glide into the Marka when the first snow comes. And we will not leave before its green. If you ask people from Oslo what they like most about their city - winter in Marka is nr 1. Thanks for commenting how we edit (and the other compliments). The producer Mads is the hero. He spends a lot of time editing.
Wow, so thats what Norway looks like under the snow!! It is very pretty and I did not see any empty or collapsing buildings with boarded up windows and lots of street crime.. That IS very strange for me! In USA we have a mix but alot of crime and broken buildings in West Pennsylvania sadly. What a different world in the Nordic lands.. Very nice.
one thing is for sure, they have imagination:) thnx Ronald for beautiful Oslo tips and you are so warm, talkative ,with having ear to ear smile
+be the change you wanna see in the world You are very kind. We love your comments 😚
This is the coolest Norwegian I've ever met!
Thanks a lot for very nice and motivating words :)
Welcome buddy
I love how much effort you put into making these videos. Can't wait for more as I want to move to Noway for my masters degree

Wow, what an interesting little tidbit, the spot of “The Scream” 😱painting! Thank you!☺️👍🏻
These are great ideas for seeing Oslo. It would be fun to look at all the YourWay2Norway videos and use them to make an itinerary.
Oh, another tour of Oslo, this time on bicycle. More up close than being on a tram. 👍 Pissing woman is so unique!

Welcome back, we miss you too :)
Thanks for taking us around. 😎

1 beer cost more than you can make in 1 hour here in the U.S at the minimum wage
We make more than you so thats why
Get a better job.
Vincent's helpful hints Well you don’t go to Monaco and complain about the prices..
One beer in norway cost almost the same as an hour minimum wage in norway too, its mostly currency difference
Its the conversion rate they are rich from oil so their money is worth more than USA ,
My best friend in the Air Force was of Norwegian descent. She was absolutely gorgeous. Blond, blue eyed beauty. Sometimes I was a little envious.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful memory :)
🦄 i would totally prefer your recommendations! thank you both xoxo 💜🏖💜🏖💜

👌 thanks! 🔔😂🔔
nice one, I really like your videos and appreciate the effort behind it. one suggestion though: A route map of the way you followed would have been a nice addition to this video.

Your videos are wonderful. Thank you for an informative tour of Oslo... I want so badly to visit one day. 💘
I love the urinating woman... great piece.
museums are not boring!!!
Sorry. I have been to some good ones 🤗
Ronald if you get tired of your current job, you would make a great tour guide!
Thanks! I have actually worked as a guide many years ago when I was a student. It was fun.
@@YOURWAY2NORWAY so that's how you know so much about all those places and the ones y'all took "stupid selfies" of in that other video!
Biking in Oslo would be so cook and I also like non tourist areas. Thanks
Yes! You are right!! We Italians love stoccafisso!! 😂😂😘😘😘
Gracias amigos!!! Takk mennesker !! may be one day you can show the famous and rainy Bergen....or wathever you like men..
Vippetangen was a great recommendation. Thanks!
Show us Trondheim please!
Mayby one day we will :) Thanks for watching and commenting.
i was in oslo last summer. it was so hot! my friend took me out to the islands in Oslofjord. It was amazing!
That community garden is delicious
Same in U.S., 45 minutes on the citi bike 😐. Glad I found your page, you guys are great 😄
and I thought Vigeland Park was weird..
Haha, very accurate comment
It isn't wierd. Its fun.
I love to visit Oslo . Looks very nice
Welcome 🤗
I love those little trees on the side of the road in the West end! What are they called?
perfect video...
Very nice.
Vardo in northern Norway is full of boarded up windows and collapsing buildings.
oh no I didnt know this sculpture park need to see the pissing lady haha, thanks for the secret tipps
Haha, you are welcome. Hope you get the Zen feeling.
