    This was a great help, thanks!! Just want to add a helpful tip: When you insert the small end of the spring into the cover make sure it goes all the way in. The metal arm should be flush against the cover. If the spring arm isn't flush you can still get the cover back on but it doesn't operate correctly.

      Excellent comment! If that short end isn’t pushed all the way into the alignment hole, you are going to have issues. The spring wire sits flush to the cover when it’s inserted all the way.

    Thanks, the seal on our door had come loose. I called Whirlpool, talked to one person who passed me off to a number no one would answer, while listening to music on hold I searched on TH-cam and found your video. Thank yo so much on all the spring was what I did not know how to put back until I watched your video!!!!!:)

    Thanks much! My gasket came loose and you vid was a lifesaver/money saver. As another responder stated, make sure the short arm of the spring needs to be completely inserted into the smaller hole within the door small hole and must sit flush with the gasket or else the door won't open properly

    Thanks Worked out great .. Didn't realize the soap door was removable! ... Found my gasket was completely out and jammed inside ... Lined it up and pushed it under the tiny retainer tabs with a jewelers screw driver ... just like new! Put the spring back in and works like a charm! .. Almost ordered the entire soap dispenser replace was almost $80 .. glad I checked youtube and found your video!

    Thanks for this. One thing to note is that inside the hole that holds the spring arm on the sliding dispenser door there is another smaller hole. You need to press the spring arm into this smaller hole for it to work properly. The spring should stay in place on the sliding dispenser door while you insert it on the main door without having to hold it. The dispenser door won't fully slide open if you don't do this.

    Very good video. I was able to fix mine finally after watching this, but, had to make one modification that others may need to do. So I found that after I got the spring back into place, it would keep popping out after I opened and closed the tray to test it. So I quickly figured out that all I had to do was bend the spring at both ends inward toward their respective holes that the ends go into just a bit so it stays in place and it worked! Very happy!

    Thank you so much. I could not believe I found so easy this video. I had the rubber gasket out for 2 years. I did not know how to take out the door. So easy video to follow. I wish I had found this video sooner- my gasket was hanging out for over a year. I called Whirlpool, who were only too happy to send out a repair man at considerable expense. I'm convinced that for the 2 years I've owned the dishwasher that the gasket was never in there properly and sometimes I had to try 20 times to close the lid before starting the load. In desperation, I popped the lid off, not knowing if it was supposed to be able to come off (!) and then didn't know how to get the spring back in. Thanks for the helpful video that showed me I hadn't broken anything. I'm subscribing.

      There is a free one in a floor model at your local appliances store. Sure thing they can fix it under warranty after charging other socer-moms $75 for a piece of plastic.

    The only problem here is, you don’t put the short end of spring in that hole. You place it in the back of the channel to the area left of small hole. This allows the “open” button to actually push up on wire to open it properly. If you place wire in hole, this does give the feel that it is working but catches wire on that moving part under lid when you try to open and you have to start all over again.

      Agreed.

    • @chrismcdermott6518
      @chrismcdermott6518 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also agree. If you put the short end of spring in hole, it will dislodge first time.

      triple agree

    • @whathappened215
      @whathappened215 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Disagree. I've opened and closed mine about 10 times. This could change after I run a cycle, I guess, but it's working just fine right now.

    • @JL-bo2zb
      @JL-bo2zb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This. The arm of the spring needs to go on the underside lever of the open button. Otherwise, the open button has nothing to keep it lifted.
      I tried both ends of the springs in the holes, and while the lid would latch - it wouldn't spring open when the button was pushed.
