“North is back with a vengeance” one of my favourite commentary lines especially with the aruption of the crowd in the background - gives me goosebumps. What a legend George is, he will be missed and always remembered
Christ on a bike - I nearly had another heart attack watching this! What a great and well-rounded player George is! Thanks for this video, Andy - a fantastic half hour of one of our nation's finest players! His name will long be remembered when the Welsh rugby legends are talked about.
Always loved North as a player. Absolutely gutted he is retiring- I always assumed we were witnessing a 150+ cap player and a guaranteed Welsh scoring record. Moreover, him getting to the end just rubs in that I am pushing into middle age now 😆 I will always remember fondly that 2013 Lions series and have a huge respect for the Wales side he was a part of. All best wishes in (Test) retirement to the lad from a long-suffering Scotland fan.
From an Irish fan, he was a joy to watch in defence and attack. He was crucial to a great welsh team with halpenny jones warburton davies ect. Legend - thank you George!
What a player. For a period he was literally unstoppable and could break the game single handedly. Absolutely petrifying seeing him get it in any space whatsoever as an England fan. All timer.
Great video! The play at 18:49 is ridiculous; at the time the pass is thrown, he is still 15-20 meters away! The reading of the game and the pace is stunning!
What impressed me most about North was his relentless defensive output. As you see in these highlights - he'd put so much pressure on the ball carrier and would frequently make 2-3 tackles in a row in the same passage of play before the rest of the defensive line got there.
At his best he really was some player between 2010-2015. Took some nasty head blows which seemed to affect him, but whether he was playing well or not, always seemed to score try's. My favourite North moment was actually the assist against Ireland in 2012 when he flattens O'Driscoll then offloads to Foxy to run over
Hoping there will be a club rugby highlights video as well. First one that springs to mind is a try for northampton, scored by Rory Hutchinson, made by North direct from kick off. He just ran rings around the entire exeter side. World class!
Probably one of the best examples of the "perfect winger"....agile and fast (like all wingers should be), strong as a flanker, tremendous tackler, could catch a high ball like no-one else and could actually kick. Ôo
A winger who seems to naturally know which arm to hold the ball in, when to change arms (Lions vs Aus!) or when to keep it in two hands to pass. Cant think of any others as consistently on it in that way.
that assist vs Ireland is what I will always remember North for - went through D'Arcy like he was an amateur then gave that offload, I remember thinking 'who is this mutant?'
I remember that Welsh back line from I say 2011 to 2014 and the size and power of it spearheaded by north it used to cause my Ireland team a lot of problems I remember cause they were all massive over 6 feet I think except halfpenny but could all play and were fast and north was the danger man
Not the goat or even our best winger, but what a brilliant player. A legitimate consideration for a world XV between 2011 and 2014 then transformed into a lions calibre centre (likely test 13 in 2021 if not for injury). Modern great
Wales should have kept George conditioned to remain a winger. Truly devastating and superb handling skills and tackling. He wanted to play and popped up everywhere
For any position his try scoring record is exceptional, but to score that many at centre is ridiculous. From 2011-2015 God I wished he was English him and Prime Manu could have been a really good partnership. Still an amazing player in his pomp, even if he did go on a bit too long. Shame it ended the way it did
It's a shame a player like North has had to live through the collapse of the sport in Wales and that his swan song was a horror show. Imagine how decorated a player he would've been had he been born elsewhere. I suppose at least he'll get to (hopefully) spend his last few years in France and therefore actually winning some games - he deserves it.
@@davidlee55 when you put it like that it is pretty amazing, actually. The last few years have been so bad I forget that Wales did achieve things previously.
He’s been a fantastic player for Wales for a very, very long time, but let’s put aside recency bias and be serious about where he stands in all time terms for Wales. With all due respect to George, this video title is just a tiny bit disrespectful to the likes of Gareth, Barry, JPR, Cliff, Merv the Swerve, Benny, Nugget, AWJ, Shane and probably some others I’ve forgotten. Great, great player? Absolutely. Greatest of all time? No. Here’s wishing him all the best for his next steps, and it would be lovely if he could round things off in Australia next Summer.
The only unfortunate thing about North’s career is that for the last few years he’s been playing international rugby in a pretty poor side which hasn’t allowed us to see him at his best.
Great player, great servant to welsh rugby.... but with all due respect, probably a good ten, fifteen welsh players I'd pick ahead of him as the 'GOAT'
A great, but not the top I wouldn't say, I'd also say that pick up of the Australian player was daft, he ended up hurting his neck and coming off the pitch
Can't help but feel like people forget his defensive positioning which has leaked in more than a few tries over the years. I feel like that cancelled out a lot of the 'brilliance' in this video to be honest. Anyways, people remember what they want to remember

There arent many teams that could get a 25 min highlight reel that good. An absolute legend.
His ending this weekend was too sad.. sport does not make fairytale endings
that tackle on farrel!!!!!
Big fan of your channel Gaz!

He is a living legend.
Thank you George North - a fine example for your Country and for the sport of Rugby.
My favorite non-french player, a monster who nerver felt pain

This man has been a pain in every country's rear for 14 years... Respect and best wishes to this legend.
He is off to enjoy Le Good Life en France. Well deserved big last contract in the sun.
Still eligible for the next Lions tour as well. 😮

It was McFadden not O’Driscoll
@@AndrewDavidForde Apologies 😅😉
My all time favourite player, my hero growing up! What an international career!
Grazie mille George ci hai regalato 14 anni di meraviglioso rugby!
Loving these new thumbnails
England fan here, George North will be sorely missed in the six nations. What a contribution he made for his country and the Lions 🦁
Hoping there will be a club rugby highlights video as well. First one that springs to mind is a try for northampton, scored by Rory Hutchinson, made by North direct from kick off. He just ran rings around the entire exeter side. World class!
When he retires from all rugby then I'll make one with club highlights :)
Been waiting for this 😢
A Great player 👍💪from an lrish Fan.
Q:So, would you like North to play at 11, 12, 13 or 14?
A: Yes.
Roberts/North is one of my favourite centre/wing partnerships. Such a physically threatening partnership
Goat

Good days we need more players like George and team around him.
Probably be long time before we are back to this team. Looking at the unber 20s

Love George but sure it was Ferguson someone, not Darcy…

George North, the last Welsh rugby Jedi.
Great player
That 2011 World Cup sure was a missed opportunity
Wales should have kept George conditioned to remain a winger. Truly devastating and superb handling skills and tackling. He wanted to play and popped up everywhere
Shows he was a top player when you got a 25 minute video of you not one repeat 👍👍💯💯top guy as well

Scored most his tries on the wing
One of the best to ever wear the jersey
In his pomp he was a true Prince of Wales.

2 Grand slams 4 six nations 2 world cup semi finals ranked number 1 in the world in 2019. 2 Lions Tours including a series win in 2013.
What if I told you he wasn't born in Wales!
@@AndrewDavidForde ha! I would say he was born over the bridge but we all know he's Welsh!

Irb player of the year award hints he wasn't even wales' best winger.
He seems to love playing australia 😅
Not Wales' goat but definitely our most naturally talented.

Wish he got a better send off, but he definitely won’t be remembered for the campaign just gone
Hopefully nobody will!
Wales's finest Englishman
He’s from north wales mate guy went to a school on Anglesey
He spent more of his upbringing in Hong Kong than England! And he only spent 2 years in Hong Kong!
I Missed the voice of the eddie butler
Diolch yn fawr George
team wales
Nope, Gareth Edwards is the Welsh GOAT
North is English after all
gorge north retired this six nations wales didnt do that good but there a new team keep it up wales

Which tries?
Honestly with total Respect this Vid was 24mins too long
Apart from the Lions Tackle
Ok
He was ok but not outstanding!
Been knocked out more times than he’s scored tries
He's been knocked out over 115 times?
Not far off it
Wales rugby GOAT? Born in Norfolk mate, don’t get more English than that
