this reflects exactly my analisis too...very interesting thing...great find considering that there are hundreds of millions of videos on youtube...thnx to uploader
that's because the taliban fight unconventional, guerilla-style warfare, cancelling out NATO's air power advantage, and making occupation of a country v. difficult. When NATO is allowed to fight a conventional war i.e First Gulf War, it's vastly, vastly superior airpower and it's far better equipped, trained, and led troops (plus it's massive amount of armour/APC's) win the day... on that day. If Iran tried to fight NATO conventionally i.e as they did vs Iraq, they would lose very, very fast (NATO's Shock and Awe plus it's naval dominance would crush the Iranian army). But NATO won't go to war with Iran, cos they have no reason to, so no reason to worry.
rmcewan10 war drum is beating again and again....why not look at a more positive relation with Iran, a country just like any other country that wants it sovereignty to be respected and not threaten....there is no winner in war in terms of human sacrifice and destruction...go the PEACE way and the world will be a better place for all to live and prosper !
A salute to those U.S. soldiers who deserted and found their way to Canada. Those young men, who refused combat in the Iraq War, not because of cowardice but from conscience, were a pleasure to hear out on "60 Minutes" on December 9, 2004. They are the future of our Nation and a model for a new, peaceful world; they who realized that they could not blindly follow order in an illegal war.
Attacking Iran would be a catastrophe for the region and would draw the US into a larger war. Some hawks seem to think it would just be a simple matter of airstrikes.
It will not matter whether they are Shia or sunni, if the US or Israel want to attack Iran, all Muslims will unite as one and defend Iran. I'm sunni and I will join my Shia brothers to defend their country and right to live in peace in the middle East without been bullied by the deceptive and arrogant Israelis.
There is one quite clear answer to McGovern's last question: The downside is a moral one. Sanctioning an oppressive fundamentalistic regime in Iran is just wrong.
i wonder , us has nukes china has nukes, russia has nukes, india pakistan, north korea has nukes israel has nukes, france has nukes,,,,,,,,,,,,,why not for iran ,,,,
"How would a US-Iran war begin" It would begin with.... US nuking Iran away from the map. But that wont happen because US wont do that. But maybe Iran would do it if they had the chance, dunno.
Iran would never ever develop nukes cause they are mass destruction weapons and more against civilians than winning a war. Imagine if america nukes Iran, than how are they going to extract all that oil and gas, not to forget Russia and China interest there... Iran has developed instead with the order of Imam Khamenei precise missiles, the missiles which hit the isis headquarters in Syria very near turkey border, the missiles which hit the Al Asad american military base and recently few days ago the den of Zion espionage in Iraq got hit. In these 3 occasions the missiles were shot directly from their soil...
The Gulf War in 1990. Before the US Congress, a young woman in tears testified how she as a nurse in Kuwait witnessed Iraqi soldiers ripping prematurely born babies out of their incubators, leaving them to die on the floor. The story was later repeated by an equally moved President George HW Bush. The public later found out that the woman was in fact not a nurse, but the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to Washington, and the story was concocted as part of the propaganda effort by the PR-Agency Hill & Knowlton.
It would probably start very easily, intentionally or not. Which is why, everyone involved should tread carefully. The current situation needs the prayers of the whole world.
Actually i think you,ll find that Iraq backed by the u.s "who else" started a war with Iran. So the Iranians have not started a war with anyone in hundreds of years "Fact".
Drones are like someone install camera on your fence. Sanctions is like someone blocking your driveway with their car. Guess what is next if you neighbor down the street did this to you?
At this time period, it's the value of quality, not quantity. The DPRK has the 3rd largest army in the world, but they're still stuck in the 50's. You have to look at what we have. What we can do. We control land, air, and sea.
@SunriseLAW Largely, Iran Oil Industry is basically wanting development. When the last European oil developer finally left 3-4 years ago, somebody has to fill the void. Asian developers gladly filled the void. Leaving the US/UK at the gate holding their equipment. Embargo? Nah! Even at the height of the embargo, we can see Dell, HP, Allen-Bradley, Johnson Controls, Fisher Valves, Rotorks in Iranian refineries.
I knw how it would start: 1. Economic sanctions on Iran will ultimately fail as not enough nations are supporting them. 2. Israel will see that sanctions aren't hurting Iran and attack them. 3. The US will undoubtely help Israel for the reason of their weird relationship that's only beneficial to Israel, even if they do so reluctantly. 4. The world's political climate will polarise, China, Lebanon, Russia and other countries joining with Iran, and western countries joining the US. 5. WW3.
From Iranian viewpoint, i guess i should say for you all common people here suffer badly from sanction which imposed Iran unfairly, If you want to begin a war don;t punish people in this way
Please do. It'll be fun to see the world cope with half the world's oil wells in the fallout zone. And that's assuming the Iranians don't have some sort of chem-weapons capability to deny choice areas for a year or three. There are a few persistent agents that would make it impossible for the Saudis to produce any oil for half a year if used in sufficient quantities. On the positive side, it'd wean us off oil fairly quickly.
@baghend You know what - I think this has become less about oil and more about something else. And the US involvement with Israel reeks of something fishy. I don't think it's racism or even imperialism - I think it's something a little more sinister. I mean, looking at Israel's apparent need to establish 'Zion' - the land between the two rivers of the Nile and Euphrates, as the Israeli flag shows, it's no wonder that they're so opposed to any arab country that isn't allied to them.
@BC239 I don't know man the U.S just turned down the largest supply in the world by saying no to Canada ! The Keystone pipeline was going to double the U.S oil stock. The only argument with that is that the U.S can invade and take full control over a supply in the middle east, but if they make a deal with Canada like that. The supply is owned by mostly Canadians and it would basically make Canada the leading energy supplier on the planet over night.
That was funny! America has started many wars but for centuries Iran has not invaded or started war. So you start but we will end it! Just a wake up call.
I think you'll find that the Chinese armed forces is bigger than that of the US . Furthermore if the US were to become embroiled in a conflict with Iran it would be a no win situation similar to Irag (an illegal invasion) and Afghanistan . The rest of the world views the US with an increased feeling of mistrust since 2003 due to it's aggressive foreign policy approach and if US forces went into Iran you would have horrific casualties .
A lot of the problems in that region is the way the borders were re-drawn after WW2 (mainly by the Brits). It didn't take account demographics. Look at the Kurds....they're split into about 4 different countries. There's a good case there should have been a Kurdistan state after WW2. Now there's potential conflicts in all those areas.
The U.S. Iraq war death toll only counts US soldiers, and not rent-a-soldiers (people hired mostly out of Mexico and other developing countries) by U.S. private contracting companies to fight (companies that were interestingly ready to send in rent-a-soldiers as soon as the wars started in 2003 and became Billion dollar entities overnight). It is not known how many of these anonymous individuals have been needlessly killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars but they far outnumber U.S. casualties
I am a patriotic American and if are greatest ally Israel feels threatened and attacks or is attacked I will stand with her. I am ashamed of you people who would leave are ally to die. Rather die honorably defending an ally then living a coward.
Bring back all our troops and support our country not any other country. Pay your debts, build the economy, stop all foreign aids. Mind our own business and no one will attack us.
@powmful I wholeheartedly agree. Disgusting, how we're allied with Saudi Arabia, especially in the light of recent aggression against protesters both in their country, and in Bahrain and Yemen
Iran has 80 million young people that would fight to the last man to defeat the invaders. Another Korean War, three years of intense fighting, and the US did not gain one square inch of land. Besides that the Korean War is officially not over and the year is 2015.
@MrFrontlinefred Yeah, I would like to know the equivalent amount to each country and then determine. I honestly have no idea and would be interested in finding that out. And I agree with all you said. I think most people would be determined to fight 20x harder if their homeland is wrongly (matter of opinion) attacked.
As much as we want to live in peace and give our neighbor his space, sometimes he doesn't feel the same way.. therefore, we have a problem...God help us!
@WangkorWat I never said throwing money at soldiers (by the way I think they're under-paid). I said the billions of dollars in TRAINING. Calling them "dumb asses" is pretty, well, stupid but I won't argue your opinion of them. I was only trying to explain why the US leaves when the job isn't done. It's the lack of support from the people, then a failed strategy.
Honestly now, you need to do some reading here before we can talk about this, so you understand my answers. Look these up: gas centrifuge process, gaseous diffusion, thermal diffusion. Highly enriched uranium (HEU) Lastly look up "enrichment facilities" and read about Irans.
@VeloxStang During the Vietnam war it is estimated (Wall Street Journal) that it cost the USA 2 million dollars to kill each Viet Cong soldier. It is estimated it cost the Viet Cong $2.80 to kill an American soldier These estimates worked out on the number of dead during of the conflict & the overall cost of funding required for the conflict. You maybe better trained, but nothing willl stop a determined society regardless of whom they are. You can't kill someone if you don't know where they are.
@franknbeans4761 I checked out your claims; none of the participants were in active locations. Egypt was given 2.3 billion dollars to "attend" Iraq. Syria & other countries you mentioned opposed the USA led invasion & only played a token gesture in the action. None of these forces were involved in direct action. Their role was to offer assistance & aid to the Iraqi population. Due to the religious factions involved, it was considered too inflammatory to have them visibly involved.
“The Israeli government has openly declared its intention to attack the enriched uranium production plant in Iran, and the government of the United States has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in manufacturing a bomb for that purpose.” -Fidel Castro
Iran would only close the straight as a last ditch effort, as it would have a global effect.

How would a US-Iran war begin?
Ask Netanyahu
Who else saw this in there recommendation in 2019?
america can not handl 2000 taliban then they wanna war whit iran plz
thx bro
:L funny the sats of the kdr of the us solider to a taliban is 1/19 dunno wtf your on about.

Stop building nukes, whicha ren't renowned for being peaceful, and I might consider then.
This guy's prophetic in his analysis. Look at the nature of the conflict today, he's absolutely right.
It's 2019 and we haven't learned a thing!

Great Video, Thank you !
I hope Russia will join since they are both big allies and need each other in the future for support
In 2022, Iran & Russia are close friend. In fact, ally 😂
Attacking Iran would be a catastrophe for the region and would draw the US into a larger war. Some hawks seem to think it would just be a simple matter of airstrikes.

VIVA PERSIA
Wise peaceful analysis!
cool video touched all the topic's I wanted to hear.
There is one quite clear answer to McGovern's last question: The downside is a moral one. Sanctioning an oppressive fundamentalistic regime in Iran is just wrong.
The problem is defining what is strategic interest. It means different thing for different people.
Iran can be a friend of USA. Find better ways to make it a reality. This will be the best path for world peace.
best offense is good defense.
please no more war
war never changes
lets talk we are human not animal
i wonder , us has nukes china has nukes, russia has nukes, india pakistan, north korea has nukes israel has nukes, france has nukes,,,,,,,,,,,,,why not for iran ,,,,
Funny how this was uploaded 2 years ago.But now it's coming to fruition. We don't need more fighting do we?
War with Iran would last as long as a good commercial during the superbowl!
Iran poses no threat to America. The question should be: How would a Iran-Israel war begin?, since Israel is the one that's interested
u tell half the facts just like the media, thx bud
im sure americans thought vietnam was weak too, but they held america back like you wouldn't believe
the thumbnail is not for the Iranian military.

It started, but it's only the tennis warm-up before the match!
Iran actually has 5 seats reserved in their Majlis(Parliament) for religious minorities, including 1 for the Jews.
@MrFrontlinefred Thanks, I think you just answered my question.
starts with a bang
If you're still willing to call that a "war", you haven't done enough homework.
GREAT SPEECH...
@countsmyth The Operation Ajax was spectacular. We should do this again
they dont stand a chance, but their allies do

500 years country like America never and cannot harms any long history of ancient culture OF IRAN
I dont know how it would start, but I know how it would end.
It would start by the machinations of Israel.
No sure how it would begin, but I know how it would end: With the Iranian military being absolutely humiliated by the United States Marines alone.
That was funny! America has started many wars but for centuries Iran has not invaded or started war. So you start but we will end it! Just a wake up call.
We're still not making enemies out of neutrals. It's not wise.
It is our destiny to go to war even if we hate it ...

@shota541 what makes you say that? Just curious.
America is too weak to face Iran, too weak to take on Russia as well. That's not how it's going to happen.
Answer: It would start in the living-rooms, right where the Vietnam War ended. All we can do is ignore the tube and go back to common sense.
Why can’t we be nice to one another? Fighting and killing is no good. You and I have Families and friends. Let be good to one another.
