Mann this dude is a legend… I was listening to Destiny’s Child Say My Name… the production was done years ago but it’s still just better than anything that’s out right now.
He was just doing a generic, corny version of what Timbaland was already doing for years. So people hired Rodney Jerkins to do the off-brand, generic version of the sound. Well I'm a Reason user, and have Analog Lab, with Mini V unlocked and honestly that's decades worth of sounds just with that. Even Analog Lab which comes with any of there hardware devices has thousands of excellent presets and can be edited significantly without owning the V Collection.
I remember listening to Brandy's 'Full Moon' album and then when 'It's Not Worth It' came on I heard this little sample from Michael Jacksons voice which was so cool!
Always loved Rodney's pop productions. I wonder if he produces rock as well? I love alternative rock and I would love to work on some alternative Indie rock stuff.
Arturia lost me as a customer when they failed to offer reasonable upgrades on the V Collection. And I don't give rat's butt on who endorses them. The synth VST market is saturated. Cherry Audio, G-Force, etc., many are superior to Arturia. I own V Collection 8, and a Polybrute. But now for what they're offering in the upgrade, I'd practically have to pay the same as a new customer. They have no sense of customer loyalty. They will never get me back.
@@iamjamessmith You clearly don't own any VSTs because if you did, you'd know that Arturia upgrades existing VSTs, and add new vintage synths and offer new effects. And you can speak for yourself, but you don't get to say when someone has what they want or need. Simple.
@@commodoor6549 lol, duh. But guess what? If you don't upgrade, what you have still works. Crazy, right? I also have a guitar I bought when I was 15. Still makes music if you can believe it!

I find it very difficult to believe that Darkchild doesn't use any plugins but Arturia's. Don't get me wrong, Arturia's stuff is good but it's not always the best.
@@tonyrobbins2558 it depends on the instrument really. For example, the arturia’s Rhodes are far inferior to Keyscape - omnisphere. Some of Roland’s cloud instruments have more of a rich mid range to my ear, and for bass, Diva packs more of that analog type punch than arturia’s vsts. There’s almost always an alternative that sounds slightly thicker in the lower mids to me. For getting ideas down though, analog lab is really handy, I agree on that.
He’s more than likely getting paid to say that. As great of a legend producer Darkchild is, he really needs to get his health under control. I would hate for us to lose another legend due to health issues.
@thatdudereggie I think after that surgery, he kept on with his bad eating habits... eating, staying in the studio for hours, and then going to sleep. I don't think he works out or does any running. I think he just sits in that chair in that studio for hours

It's nice to listen to a person. Cool atmosphere, let's be positive! Let's cherish our musical experience and musical taste! Let's create styles! All the best to everyone
Pro Tools started in 1985 as Sound Designer by 1990 it was called Pro Tools and Rodney Jerkins began producing in 1994 so the timeline is slightly out, before Rodney was in studio's there were musicians who could play as he does and songs and albums would be cut in a day or two, it's easily verified too if you don't believe me just look at liner notes. And with a mixing board you recorded more than one track at a time so don't believe everything you hear, technology has enabled people to do great things but don't lie to make a point. And yes I was recording in the 80's it was hip hop and I did go to professional studios such as Animal Farm in Central London UK, where Elton John used to record before someone says what do I know. A whole lot actually. Today technology is great but musicians cut songs in a heartbeat so it's not faster now, it can be more efficient due to the nature of the tools but if you are proficient in your instrument whether it's a guitar or a sampler you get the job done quickly cause you have skills for which there really is no substitute. And it's not about speed or technology it's about great songs, and great performances, hence why you don't hear great music anymore, too much reliance of tech and not enough on great performances and songs.
FYI Rodney started his 1st production officially in 1993 with first album of Dawkins and Dawkins (Gospel). Then in 94’ he remixed Patti Labelle "All This Love", he did few unreleased songs for Horace Brown on Uptown Records, album that was shelved….

Arturia layers how much you are allowed to use, if you've already invested in hardware like the minilab, and upgraded to Lab V Pro as well, you'll not be able to pitch bend more than two semitones, unless you shell out hundreds. Considering that their instruments have titles like 'bend me' and various other names, you won't be able to bend any of the instruments particularly usefully. It's an awful shame because whilst their marketing is awesome, unfortunately, their pricing structure appears obtuse.

Most brands are the same, I'm a Reason guy and every main update is £200. Things cost money they are not just going to give it fir free, they are a business.
What exactly is your logic here? With the 6 new instruments included, buying them individually would be around 1200 dollars. But the strings and everything else is all Darkchild. The fact that he was able to do all that and mix and master it in one night is truly impressive.
Dude has genuine talent.
Some of your stuff was on point but Rodney was (1) Far from cheap lol. He had his business right and he was coming off the Brandy album in 98. So he was not a cheaper version of Timbaland. His prices were just as high.
Timbaland absolutely is a goat and opened up a completely different chamber than anybody in both hip-hop & R&B. And the man did it a few times.
Also I cant let u just say “Butterflies” by MJ was a passed over song by other artists. Just flat out not true.
Marsha Ambrosius wrote that song as a young girl and recorded it as a demo tape to get a deal. She was working with the Touch of Jazz camp and they played it for MJ. He LOVED it.
She didnt even kno they played it for him. They ask if MJ can have it and like any sane person, she said hell yeah lol.
So no it wasnt passed over numerous times. Simply not true.
Brandy’s Full Moon is a masterpiece 💯
Facts ugh 😩
I'm sold. If it's good enough for Darkchild, then it's definitely good enough for me
AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEE!!!!
He likes this, I am an Omnisphere 2 man, I love that synth. shoutout to Darkchild.
R&B Producer Legend Darkchild! 🎶
V Collection plus Pigments is pretty much all you need. Plus beats. Arturia, are you going to create a new beat/groove plugin???
I would also add FX Collection as well. Arturia have done an excellent job on these software emulations of vintage gear.
seriously need a arturia beat machine
@@Itaketoomanypics Seriously thinking about a DrumBrute.
@@michaelgrijak8623 i was looking at the beatstep pro but id love a software version
Well I'm a Reason user, and have Analog Lab, with Mini V unlocked and honestly that's decades worth of sounds just with that. Even Analog Lab which comes with any of there hardware devices has thousands of excellent presets and can be edited significantly without owning the V Collection.
Legend 🔥🔥
the instrumental on "all in me"" angel in disguise is my top fav!! the sounds are beautiful! I love both albums
I remember listening to Brandy's 'Full Moon' album and then when 'It's Not Worth It' came on I heard this little sample from Michael Jacksons voice which was so cool!
I took that invitation to sit side by side at the Grammy's personally. See you there man
Rodney was my idol growing up.
A legend for real!❤
Always loved Rodney's pop productions. I wonder if he produces rock as well? I love alternative rock and I would love to work on some alternative Indie rock stuff.
I worked with him on a track for Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger LP.
@@MobiusMinded did the track make the album?
Check out Genesis by Polyphia which Rodney worked on 👍
@@Bradleybrookwood absolutely
OMG ...he shouted us out: LET'S GO TOLEDO
Arturia! Greetings from SpiderWerks DSP! We are gonna do a shoot out soon with your products. Good luck!
Thank you for your insight.
Arturia plus Dark Child equals profound amazingness
Arturia lost me as a customer when they failed to offer reasonable upgrades on the V Collection. And I don't give rat's butt on who endorses them. The synth VST market is saturated. Cherry Audio, G-Force, etc., many are superior to Arturia. I own V Collection 8, and a Polybrute. But now for what they're offering in the upgrade, I'd practically have to pay the same as a new customer. They have no sense of customer loyalty. They will never get me back.
This right here!
You don't need more shit if you already have V Collection 8 and a Polybrute. You're set. If you want more, it costs money. Simple.
What’s your go to synth nowadays?
Let's goooo Darkchild! 😁
SUPERB LIGHT TO MUSIC PRODUCTION.
nicely done Arturia
Master production skills....🔥🔥👍💯
The big boss of hip-hop rnb ❤
Darkchild produced “Endlessly” by Kali Uchis instrumentation is UNREAL.
Amazing producer , like babyface , last big good period of music !
The V collection is a chance for New génération to have the fat Sound as if they were rich in the 80´s !!
For music prodction the tools are there !
Let’s do music now !!
🎧🎤🎺
Are there any Darkchild presets? 👀
he got that yeezygap hoodie on, he a real one
I find it very difficult to believe that Darkchild doesn't use any plugins but Arturia's. Don't get me wrong, Arturia's stuff is good but it's not always the best.
They paid him to say that
What’s the best to you I’m curious
@@tonyrobbins2558 it depends on the instrument really. For example, the arturia’s Rhodes are far inferior to Keyscape - omnisphere. Some of Roland’s cloud instruments have more of a rich mid range to my ear, and for bass, Diva packs more of that analog type punch than arturia’s vsts. There’s almost always an alternative that sounds slightly thicker in the lower mids to me.
For getting ideas down though, analog lab is really handy, I agree on that.
😂😂😂
He’s more than likely getting paid to say that. Victor Wooten admitted that he has an endorsement deal with “Fodera” and the contract dictates that he can’t seen players any other brands of bass guitar. Victor also admitted that companies pay celebrities to embellish their products so that the customer will subscribe to their narrative.
Love to see it. Legendary
Thank you for this story! - Really cool advice as well - thanks
As great of a legend producer Darkchild is, he really needs to get his health under control. I would hate for us to lose another legend due to health issues.
I remember he said he had gotten the weight loss surgery, but it looks like he had gained that weight back
@@DaMixWizard Wow really? That’s unfortunate for him if that happened. He is getting bigger and I’m concerned for his health.
@thatdudereggie I think after that surgery, he kept on with his bad eating habits... eating, staying in the studio for hours, and then going to sleep. I don't think he works out or does any running. I think he just sits in that chair in that studio for hours
@@DaMixWizard All man that’s no good. I pray he gets inspired to get back in shape and be healthy!! We are rooting for him!!
The Man Himself 🔥🔥🔥
The OG 🔥🔥🔥
90s LEGEND!!!
Appreciate the content 💪🏾
I have a Akai MPK249 for the DAW Reason there software devices, and a Arturia Keylab 49 for there software devices. I see them as rivals in terms of sound capabilities and quality both are excellent in My opinion.
It's nice to listen to a person. Cool atmosphere, let's be positive! Let's cherish our musical experience and musical taste! Let's create styles! All the best to everyone
Arturia Did It Again !
Dopeness!! Great video
Vous deviez être trop content ,sa c'est de la reconnaissance pour votre travaille bravo 🔥🔥👍
Yea but what about serum and Omnisphere and diva are - I do dig this but it’s not all i use

Rodney the Goat
🐐🔥
Legend
Excellent!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well if the V collection is so great. My question is, will Darkchild sell all his hardware instruments? 😎
How tall is Rodney?
Motivating
For Me Toni Braxton solidified him
Pro Tools started in 1985 as Sound Designer by 1990 it was called Pro Tools and Rodney Jerkins began producing in 1994 so the timeline is slightly out, before Rodney was in studio's there were musicians who could play as he does and songs and albums would be cut in a day or two, it's easily verified too if you don't believe me just look at liner notes.
@@strictlyswingshow Thanks for correcting me in Rodney first producing in 1993, it doesn’t detract from my point but always got to gain knowledge so appreciate that 。。。。。👍🏿
The Pontiac Bandit is now a producer?
Ok I'll give Arturia another try, got infatuated with Syntronik 😂
I was thinking of upgrading. But i got V8 for 299 and you guys want me to pay 299 to upgrade to V10. I dont feel like theres enough upgrades in there for me this time. Im just hoping yall dont want $400 next year for the upgrade. 😅
🔥🔥
🐐
only bundle i ever bought.... i'd never afford all these synths
thumbnail looks like hes ina barbershop
If you saw this man in person what would say to Him what would you do?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish i lived in the US. The Australian music scene is basically non-existent. No opportunities to meet any decent artists you admire.
if fat bass was a person...
😂😂😂😂
You a savage for that one ☝️ 😂
v collective
WHO'S HIS BROTHER???
Who goes to Toledo for vacation? 🤣
Does he age??
Arturia layers how much you are allowed to use, if you've already invested in hardware like the minilab, and upgraded to Lab V Pro as well, you'll not be able to pitch bend more than two semitones, unless you shell out hundreds. Considering that their instruments have titles like 'bend me' and various other names, you won't be able to bend any of the instruments particularly usefully. It's an awful shame because whilst their marketing is awesome, unfortunately, their pricing structure appears obtuse.
Or just donate it to some new artists/beatmakers that are coming?
Funny how the didn’t show his massive synth collection haha
personal, I think it was too much TECNOLOGY that help to kill the music industry. along with very little recording artist talent.
But it was a lot more fun recording the old way. :)
he used a lot the Mpc3000 with ( triton, etc)
I get the feeling this was more paid advertising than a biopic….
Yeah. Look at the CPU getting pinged just playing two Arturia plugins. Looks about right.
I upgraded to V9 and then X dropped the next day smh
hey why don't you ask why Arturia doesn't like customers, I bought 2023-12-02 six days before the update on the X, I didn't get the new update, if I want to use the X I have to pay 199 euros again,. This company is a scam no matter how much hardware or software you buy beforehand, they don't give a damn about you. I contacted them, wrote for a long time, nothing worked, they wrote back buy the program again. Arturia screw you.
199 to update fron 9 to X. Arturia disappoints even more than NI in terms of updates these days.
Most brands are the same, I'm a Reason guy and every main update is £200. Things cost money they are not just going to give it fir free, they are a business.
What exactly is your logic here? With the 6 new instruments included, buying them individually would be around 1200 dollars. So either you want things that aren't free to be free or you have very little concept of how any of these ecosystems work and why they do. Arturia is one of the best and most consistent software companies when it comes to loyalty to customers and fair pricing
@@caelenkibler6049 And they do quality Hardware ontop, of some of the best software plugins out there, they are impressive as a brand. They probably spend over a million dollars creating this new update and people think that should be free.
@@caelenkibler6049 I would say the existing users should get a better discount. I bought a full version of 9 for 300 or something. Also now the full version is 599. Simple math will give you something like 99 instead of 199.
@@caelenkibler6049 Yep.
Too bad it crashes my DAW since 2014.
