Kalak is a cognitive shadow. In some ways cognitive shadows are like spren, because they consist of investiture instead of their original “body materials”. So, yes, the heralds are human form, but their original bodies are gone. They get a new physical body each time they are brought back, but it is made from investiture each time. So they are not completely like spren in the way pattern and Syl are spren Zahel talk about himself being a cognitive shadow in chapter 14/15, the laundry fight. He says he is something akin to a fossil. More a copy of what he once was. The same goes for the heralds
Thanks for the explanation. I do still find it weird though that he is called "a spren" and not "like a spren". Sort of like if a human said an ape (other primate) was a human when we know they're not but we do have similar biologies. So why would the spren believe something that is not true. It just feels like there's more to it but maybe I'm overthinking it.
I will say The Sunlit Man has some hints that complicate or at least helps us theory craft around Hoid’s memory loss, so I definitely recommend getting to that one if you have the brain space for it!
If I don't remember wrong Odium says he could feel that the contract still is active. I could be wrong though since I read it last december and my memory is awful 😂
I can't remember reading that...hmm. I might be a bit biased as I sign contracts at work and have to get them resigned when there are any changes. My governance team would never allow this contract to go through with Taravangian 😂
@@AbbySalter hahahaha exactly xD Dalinar need it signed! I could ve wrong too since it was almost a year since I read it and my memory is almost as bad as Dory in Finding Nemo 😅
