    I only noticed 1 rule mistake and 1 play mistake. For retiring the translator u should have gotten a white worker (I would place them on the focus card, to keep track and as a reminder).
    Rules mistake: when u rest the replaced scroll only goes to the house of wisdom if there is a spot in the top row. Else it gets discarded. Great playthrough of the 1st couple turns though.

      Thank you for the clarifications. We were aware of some after having recorded this, but it's always nice to have the hive mind in the comments help find any others. I did end up taking that white worker off-camera shortly after that moment (it was the whole reason I dispatched them). Yeah, someone else pointed out the house of wisdom mistake with the moving of scrolls during the rest. That probably had some impact on the game state for sure.

    Wow, the video is great🔥 Really well done!
    Would appreciate if you share some tips, how do you do this amazing card animation (if it’s not a secret of course)

    I'm definitely more intrigued by this game versus Wayfarers. Great playthrough by the way, and loved the 'zoomed in' view of the playerboards showing your actions and the dice/workers used. So many other playthroughs just have this big overhead camera and I can't see what's going on the board or playerboard. I really appreciate the detail.

    Excited for this to hit retail. Love the theme and the dice manipulation is so cool.

      The dice manipulation is so much fun!

    Such a great game. Awesome to see so much coverage for it. And this gives you a good idea how the game plays
    I do have a few minor points to make, sorry but for the completeness I think it will add to have all mistakes reported. When you rest, you only add a scroll to the house of wisdom if the top location is empty. If there is at least 1 scroll per colour, the scroll will be discarded.
    And Emily should have paid David a coin to remove the gold from his translator. Not that David needed anymore coins.
    Great game and congratulations David

      We always welcome rules clarifications, and I'll try to note them in the description. Thanks.
      The resting action not filling up the house of wisdom unless empty, is a big catch. Thank you for that. I do remember reading that now, but just slipped our minds when we played it here. Dang it! 😅
      And we had missed that silver payment on camera, but caught it just a bit later. But thanks--that is an easy one to miss when it's such a minor interaction with the translator.

    I have a question: when there is the possibility of retiring a translator, do you only choose one on which you have placed your influence marker or can I choose any other translator ready to retire?

    • @meeple
      @meeple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me try to clear it up. When any player uses a translator (whether it's one they'd influenced or not), that translator is retired at the end of that action. All gold on the translator is returned to the main supply. The influence marker is returned to its owner's supply. That owner (or the retiring translator) must then tuck the translator card under 1 of the 4 brown action slots of their player board. If it's the owner's first retiree, then there is no additional cost, but all further retirees for that owner will have additional cost.
      That's straight from the rule book, but to answer more directly--there is no choice in the matter. Translators retire immediately at the end of any action that fulfills their gold requirement.
      Hope that helps. 😁

    Looks great. I really liked the use of the digital aids and animation in the video. One tip, it’s a bit overwhelming for some us to have blurred video moving in the background in addition to the moving animation 22:33. You could darken the blurred part but it’s probably even safer to put it over a shot of your table (which is beautiful and refreshing in a sea of neoprene).

      Fair enough, and thanks for the feedback. I've used imagery before, but I like the idea of shot of the table surface (probably also blurred a bit). I'm glad you enjoyed the digital images though. Our hope is to illustrate the game in a way that can be better understood.

    I’ve loved Wayfarers so much, so I’m really excited for this one as well!

      This one is a less "complicated" game, but crunchier in the thinking that goes on at the table we think.

    Wayfarers and Scholars both look good. Thanks for the Round One. Do you release the rest of the gameplay somewhere? Just for Patreon members, it comes out later, or you don't record it because time/money to edit the video?

    So wow, just wow. Perhaps I am just sleep addled, but there is a lot going on in this game. I mean on a surface level it all checks, but then we get to the dice placement and now some dice turn numbers to six, some dice combine colors to create a secondary color or make a dice color neutral. You have played a few rounds and I am sure it is something you internalize in play, but that is a lot. This seems heavier than Wayfarers.

    • @npckse8508
      @npckse8508 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay having fully watched it now, I feel better. I original watched the rules explanation on another video and it is far less confusing in action than during explanation. Seeing the reasons for changing color and when and why helped.
