Nope, I think you got it wrong. Those specific things mentioned in the song like trading jackets and whatnot are most likely the real ones she experienced herself in her previous relationship. But the overall concept of the guy doing the same things he used to do with his ex towards his new gf is the fictional one. I'm sure Josh, if they really ever dated since that would be impossible as Olivia was still minor at that time, would not really reuse all those things he used to do with his ex. Plus Olivia said it's a made-up story about something that her friends used to experience and she thinks it's a relatable one so she made a dang song out of it.
