This really is very impressive work. RL team just keep on top of innovative development and inline with what the industry needs. I've been using this and it is so fluid, speeds everything up and I have not run into a single issue thus far. It robust, easy and a perfect bridge into UE for Character Animation. You guys are smashing it.
What a great news! Can’t believe we can now transfer characters and motions from CC and iClone into Unreal and edit them with Control Rig. Love this 👍🏻
I have some questions regarding 'Character Creator UE Control Rig' vs 'IClone Unreal Live Link'? 1. What are the different use cases between this 'Character Creator UE Control Rig' and 'IClone Unreal Live Link'? 2. Why would i use one of these tools over the other? 3. If they are used together, in what way would they be used in unison? This tool does look awesome! I can't wait to look more into this tool!
Hi @MalikFrost12, 1) The biggest difference between the two is that Live Link allows you to bring iClone animations into Unreal Engine, while UE Control Rig lets you adjust motions directly within Unreal Engine. 2) Typically, you would use UE Control Rig to make direct adjustments to animations in Unreal Engine. This is particularly handy for quickly applying or fixing interactive motions with objects and props in the level, or for certain types of motions that can't be accomplished using iClone. Additionally, UE Control Rig is compatible with Metahuman Animator if you prefer to use that instead. 3) These two technologies can seamlessly complement each other in the following manner: Begin by using Live Link to transfer the iClone character along with its animations to Unreal Engine. Next, utilize the UE Control Rig to precisely refine the animation according to your vision. For more information, visit the following: www.reallusion.com/auto-setup/unreal-engine/ magazine.reallusion.com/2024/05/30/reallusion-introduces-cc-ue-control-rig-for-streamlined-character-animation-in-unreal-engine-for-free/ www.reallusion.com/iclone/live-link/unreal-engine/
Hi @shadyartstudio, Yes, the CC UE Control Rig works with the MetaHuman animator. They share the same facial control rig, making them compatible. However, achieving optimal animation may still require some fine-tuning. For best results, we recommend using iClone AccuFace or iPhone Live Face facial capture.
These rigs are still built on the UE4 skeleton. Is there a reason for that? Seems crazy that you would build these fantastic free assets and then not use the UE5 skeleton, considering UE5 is now a few years old.
Hi @musashidanmcgrath UE4 bones still exist due to different spine segment counts with the UE5 skeleton. However, UE5.4 offers enhanced retargeting features, making it easier to transfer animations from UE4 to UE5, even with UE4 bones. Please follow up, if this solution does not work for you.
Is there a way to get the 'Mouth Sticky' and 'Mouth Press' controls onto the CC Control rig plugin? I seem to be missing some controls from the face board when using the CC Control Rig plugin after having exported FBX from CC4. I chose the highest face detail when exporting too.
Hi @AnimatorHeadSpace, MH Face Control has more controllers than CC Face, now with an additional ""Mouth press"" control. Please let us know of any other type of controllers you will need and we can plan to include them in a future release.
@@reallusion Sweet! For the mouth, it would be cool if we had 'zipper' controls for the corners of the lips. That way it'll be easier to form mouth shapes/phonemes when it comes to doing lip sync animation. This is essentially what the 'mouth sticky' on the MH Face would do. Basically, zipper controls on for the corners of the mouth is a must have for any Animator wanting to do serious facial animation. Also, it'd be really cool if we got actual FK controls on the tongue. That would be sick :D Thanks.
