- Welcome back to the Urban Suburban Garden. In today's episode we will be harvesting the last of my sweet potatoes. I had three separate bags of sweet potatoes and harvested each bag one month apart from each other. This way we could see how they looked after 90, 120, and 150 days.
Great harvest! 👍
WOW. That is amazing... I would not have thought there would be that great of a size difference.
They need more water and they will get bigger sweet love water
Sweet potato still young... We can harvest it after 3 to 4 months...wish you success and be healthy always
Don't give up. I had to pull my sweet potatoes early and I spite of there size they were actually very good they didn't have as many strings as the larger sweet potatoes and were creamier when I made my sweet potatoe pie.
Yes wait a little longer. You can always wait closer to your 1st frost for sweet potatos. Potatoes can go. Longer depending on type at least 110. Good luck when you harvest your last batch.
I've never had any luck with Sweet Potatoes in containers, especially Georgia Jets. Last year I had huge Georgia Jets -- one was 7 lbs. Had mole / vole pressure and grew the beauregards and had a wonderful crop with no damage. 300 lbs are in jars for winter. Yum!
Jarring is something I definitely have to learn next. I wasn't expecting to do as well as I did this year. So I gave a lot away. But that was good to.
@@UrbanSuburbanGardenRose Red Homestead is a great channel to learn safe canning. She is a scientist.
Good harvest I am glad you waited. I have Beauregard they are 130 days to. This month on the 28 they will be 150 days. I am hoping to have a nice harvest too. You are on a roll now. Enjoy your harvest. What a difference a day makes. Good job
Thx so much for the encouraging words. This season has been a great learning experience. Can't wait until next spring
October is best time. To get your sweet potato.
Nice for first planting but to me I think you need more water on the potatoes.
Good harvest sir. I wld suggest not using such type of grow bag. Instead use containers or cloth bags so you can retain more moisture.
God bless
I'm not sure what zone you are in but I would consider a natural fertilizer when planting and also after the foliage has grown. I would wait until late October to harvest if growing in bags.
Takes time to make sweet potatoes. Take them out before 1st freeze. 😋
Thx I appreciate the help 🙏🏾
you work very hard and you harvest the labor of your works, keep up the good work and perseverance! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
My Beauregard sweet potatoes have been growing 120 days and still need another 3-4 weeks. Pulled a few big ones today, but the others need a bit longer.
I thought sweet potatos were 120 days minimum?
Some varieties like Georgia Jets are 90 days. I just harvested some and they were a nice size and some had split. So I probably should have harvested earlier.
I know now, but the tag that came with the potatoes read 90 days to harvest. Plus, I'm a newbie to the garden game. Lol
@@UrbanSuburbanGarden Basically, so am I.
Here in Az, we can grow the sweet potatoes year round but not regular potatoes.
Great job!
Make sure you always plant potatoes in the dark of the moon.
