The Free Folk had no need for extravagant ceremonies and such; if you give yourself to each other willingly, and you say you love each other, then that's enough. And if you don't like each other anymore, then you can just part ways. None of the BS that comes with marriage, especially the BS nowadays...

At least divorcing your partner wouldn't come with a bunch of expensive legal issues like who gets what property, custody battles, etc. It's a much simpler lifestyle.

In the books it’s even more heartbreaking cause they had shot arrows with different colored tips and one of the arrows hit her but jon wasn’t 100% sure if it was his arrow or not, yet the writers wanted to have a made up kid kill her in front of him and kill pyp and grenn when they were still alive 🤦♂️ great battle scene I’d compare that to helms deep before the second battle at winterfell
