In the books it’s even more heartbreaking cause they had shot arrows with different colored tips and one of the arrows hit her but jon wasn’t 100% sure if it was his arrow or not, yet the writers wanted to have a made up kid kill her in front of him and kill pyp and grenn when they were still alive 🤦♂️ great battle scene I’d compare that to helms deep before the second battle at winterfell

Many of Ygritte’s and Mance’s words are ironic when you realize they both knew Jon was the son of Mance. I suspect Ned Stark also knew, based on his comment about Mance. I believe Benjen also knew. They were protecting Jon. The Wildlings and the Starks share a unique bond, possibly because the Starks are all descended from the wildling Bael the Bard. Think about why Mance visited Jon at least twice in Winterfell when he was growing up. Why does Mance consider Jon his son?
