Honestly, I kinda dig the line flubbing. It doesn't just add cheesy charm, but people misspeak in real life all the time - if anything them messing up lines makes it more realistic, in a fun way!
If any game deserves a re-release/remaster, it's this. The setting, concept, body horror aspects, potential is definitely fascinating, and warrents a second look with today's technology
The line, "Colt M1991A1, it's from my father's generation" is such a funny fucking line. Everything from the line delivery to the change from 1911 to 1991, which cannot be that long ago in the game's timeline, is just so perfect. What year does this game take place in anyway?
The Colt M1991A1 is a real firearm, its a Series 80 1911 GI-style Colt that had some minor upgrades and it did come out in 1991 as the name suggests. It's an interesting choice for this game because it was a budget 1911 that doesn't have a lot of modernization features that would've likely been present on a Navy Seal's duty pistol. I've noticed that Japanese game devs tended to get fixated on specific firearms that are otherwise not particularly notable in the US - maybe a result of lower information on gun culture.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a remaster of this. The setting and creature design alone makes it unique enough to make it stand out amongst other Resident Evil clones of the era. Speaking of creature designs, does anyone else get Parasite Eve vibes from some of these monsters?
This game scared the shit out of me as a kid. Late 90s pre rendered cut scenes along with the body horror kept me up at night. Glad to know that somebody other than me knows this game.
My god. This game is so of it's time man. the voice acting. the clunky mechanics. The failed attempts at drama! Is like it tries to be the most resident evil non-resident evil game ever. Nice video puncher.
I played deep fear when it came out and I absolutely loved it! Being a huge fan of The Abyss, which was still very present at the time, and The Thing, I loved the atmosphere. I especially liked that things just keep adding up, crisis to crisis. Unlike other survival horrors, you don't get to a place that's already been ravaged by whatever happened. Things start relatively safe and then just go pear-shaped and it just gets more and more oppressive. There is a certain sense of inescapability. This is all helped by the fabulous OST. Kenji Kawai is one of my favourite composers, and his opening theme still lives in my head to this day. His pieces do lend to the urgency of some scenes. And I will never, ever forget Doubois 😂 whenever people talk crap about resident evil's voiceacting, I'll always remember deep fear was a thing
Man, this looks really cool. I'm a sucker for the monster design of the PS1 era. It's somehow more scary than the super detailed stuff we get nowadays with Resident Evil: Village or the FromSoft games.
2:57 God I miss Mitch so much man, the absolute material he could've had with the way shite is day to day nowadays.. he's the only comedian I've ever had a CD of. I do have Carlin books though.
One thing I appreciated a LOT with Deep Fear is that it gave you the option to play with Analog controls if you had the Saturn Analog pad. It does reduce the tension and difficulty even further, but for people who are not a huge fan of tank controls, it's a wonderful option to have. Fear Effect 2 also gives the players this option. Also, Mooky deserved better!!!!!
Kawai is my favourite anime soundtrack producer so thank you for showing me another one of his works. Also love the charm this game is overflowing with 😊
i reallly liked the game, it got a cool setting and atmosphere and i love the "trash vibes" the cutscenes and voice acting have! its relatively easy difficulty also makes it great for beginners. also i noticed Dino Crisis 2 seems to be somewhat inspired from it, the more modern controls with the running and shooting at the same time, mostly eschewing puzzles and instead more combat, basically unlimited refillable ammo at those stations, the underwater section etc.
When i had my sega saturn this and burning rangers were games i wanted at the time. Sadly, due to the N64 and playstation running away with self space i could buy them. I did have panzer dragoon sage, but i wasnt a huge rpg fan.

I agree with your points. The gameplay on the other hand though...
Overblood
@@jonbourgoin182overblood, koudelka, haunting ground, etc

@@tstststs Yeah, doesn't really surprise me that it's a real firearm tbh, there's a million copies out there. Still though, goofy ass line lol.

I always mix this up with the very similar game 'Carrier', so during this review I was constantly thinking ''But where's Jessifer?''
Guarding her "stuff".
I plan on covering Carrier.
OVERBLOOD. PIPOOOO!
@@BoulderPunch Ooh, Looking forward to it!
Deep Fear is a cool name though

Deep Fear/ Cold Fear crossover when?

XD
I still have this game plus the Dreamcast game called Carrier👍
i need a remaster of my fucking life
Wait until you're 45, you'll be wishing for a full remake.
Aahh, good old RE clone games 😂😂 I remember playing this and laughing even when I was like 9 or 10!
The voice acting in this game is really another level 😂
its on this relatively rare level "i think any random person without acting training could do better than some of those voices"
2:57 God I miss Mitch so much man, the absolute material he could've had with the way shite is day to day nowadays.. he's the only comedian I've ever had a CD of. I do have Carlin books though.
So many great jokes. I love the Bigfoot one.
That first enemy introduction had some pretty good early cgi body horror in my eyes. Disturbing but pretty damn interesting.

“Have you ever considered…other methods?”
@@solarixstar I'm going to assume that I don't actually have to explain what I mean.
Saturn emulation is a bit spotty, but enough for the video.
Don't forget Haunting Ground, now!
@@BoulderPunch saturn emulation is actually very good these days.
i hope youre feeling better and no longer have a cold
Deep Fear atmosphere somehow very nostalgic. Maybe it is due to being underwater setting.
The reason she's so ripped is that Anna is short for Anna-bolic steroids.
21:21 I wish this part was voiced by Randy Marsh(Trey Parker)
Dude you NEED to cover Overblood
Kawai is my favourite anime soundtrack producer so thank you for showing me another one of his works. Also love the charm this game is overflowing with 😊
I feel like Michael Crichton’s biggest book was def Sphere when this game out…
Deep Fear is part of those sentimental horror games like Lunacy or Haunted Mansion. Very distinct, likeable characters.
Nirasawa is a classic god in the Toku community
3:30 lol, you're both fired 😂 😅
Anyone else felt sorry for the chimp?
Yup
2:32 It would have helped if you showed the name difference on screen, I couldn't keep up with it from voice alone
It isn't important.
I appreciate the Mitch Hedberg inclusion.
Call it a hot take, but we need more horror characters going "OoOh NoOo WhAtEvEr ShAlL wE dO!?"
Does anyone know the song that plays 16:25 ?
Neat video-- I was a fan of survival horror back in these days, but since it never came to the US, I don't remember this one at all.
Nice video. Funny that between minutes 4 and 6 i heard the word "ammo" like 20 times... so as abundant as in the game i guess
I'm 10 seconds in and I already cannot believe this game is real.
EDIT: That artwork, though!
Thumbnail : wait, they have a DOGGO?!
0:09 My GAWD, whats with that voice choice...

Resident Evil Meets 1989's Leviathan what's not to like?

Please make a video on Cold Fear
last game i bought for my PAL Saturn
Oh man that dude's voice is hilarious.
It’s not a bad game, but it could’ve been better for sure.
I pissed everywhere oh god no it’s on my clothes it’s on the ground it’s in the hall and on the wall I pissed everywhere
Spoilers for the game
Rambo making it out alive easily bumps the game's value up imo
Cold Fear next please. It's a clone of Resident Evil Dead Aim, i think.
I started a playthrough around a year ago but never got around to finishing it. Something I'll tackle at some point.
it's more like the missing link between RE4 and Dead Space
there's oxygen in water too. just saying.
do you plan on playing the new Alone in the dark that no one is talking about lol?
he he okey.. gina
Mookie is gaming's first sigma male.
