Top Ten Things To Do In Lucca Italy

  • We would like to share our top ten things to do in Lucca, our favorite Tuscan city. The walls of Lucca are like an elevated park surrounding the city. Rent a bicycle, have a picnic or just take a stroll. Nothing is better than simple Italian food. Foccacia is a local favorite but we found the best place for pizza. Also on our list is the Guinigi Tower, Palazzo Mansi, Puccini's birthplace, opera, San Michele church, Via Fililungo, and the Anfiteatro. Lucca is a small city with lovely plazas surrounded by cafes, small shops selling local foods, not too many visitors and welcoming locals. Colleen and Gary, Far Fiasco.

    I posted this before but it’s not showing up so I’m taking a second try. Sorry if it is doubled.
    My wife and I went to Lucca a handful of years ago but just for the day. We happened upon this great little pizza spot so when I saw your video I had hopes that you might stroll past it. Little did I know, it was Pizza Da Felice! 🤤
    We also chose to climb Guingi Tower and I have to say it was worth every one of the 250 steps up! The view is wonderful.
    My wife still cherishes a beautiful red purse that we bought in a family run leather shop on the east side of town. Thanks for the memories! 🥰👍

      Sorry for the delay! We have just returned from Europe. We spent a month in Lucca (our third visit). Of course, we ate at da Felice and it's still delicious! We hope you will have a chance to visit Lucca again. It really is special!

    Thank you for this great little video. My wife and I were in Luca several years ago and in our wanderings happened upon this great little pizza place… Of course we couldn’t remember the name of it… So, when I saw your video, I had hopes that you might somehow walk by. Little did I know it was Pizza da Feliz!
    We also claimed that tower with the garden on top and yes it does have a great view!
    On the east side of town there’s a family owned leather goods shop. My wife purchased a lovely red purse there and still loves it today. Thanks for the memories🥰

    Piazza San Salvatore is the name on the map but for all lucca citizens is Piazza della Pupporona, for obvious reasons 😂

    • @ColleenAndGary
      @ColleenAndGary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you....we did not know that! However, we don't understand the meaning of "pupporona." I am learning the Italian language but I guess this is slang?

    • @foionco87

    Omg you paid €4 for a piece of bread...I had to pause the video when I saw the window price.... even MORE funny...I thought it was €11 for the whole huge sheet!!! Even that would have been pricey. He is Bavaria we get huge home made heavy loaves of bread made within hours for €2.20....that friends we have in USA pay €7-9 for...they visit us and blown away at how cheap it is. You guys need to find Off the Beaten Path spots....that’s what makes Europe amazing. Good luck

    so you spent 2 weeks in Lucca, did you need a car to visit the surrounding areas of Tuscany? Did you rent an apartment?

    • @ColleenAndGary
      @ColleenAndGary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, we did not rent a car, but one would certainly come in handy if you want to visit some small towns. The train station is very convenient and you can easily get to Pisa, Viareggio, Pistoia, Lavorno, Florence, etc. And we took a taxi to a nearby vineyard.

    • @JohnnyBiscotti
      @JohnnyBiscotti 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ColleenAndGary so I am firm with 17 days in Lucca....inside or outside the wall....does it matter....is there a better area? Are the taxi's readily available- is there a taxi service you would recommend.....thanks so much!!

      @@JohnnyBiscotti Excellent! We always stay inside the walls....we like being as close to everything as possible. Last time we stayed near the Torre Guinigi and really liked that area. There are taxi stands at the Porta Santa Maria and Piazza Napoleon/Grande....and also at the train station. We used Radio Taxi Lucca. Have fun!

    Thank you for this lovely video, but... Napoleon was a bastard? For sure he wasn't Mother Theresa, but ruler in that time had to be a bit harsh, but overall Europe owes to Napoleon a lot. He wasn't solely a conquerer, but a reformator. I hope I said that right.
