‘Am I Wrong’ is one of their most political songs. It dates to late 2016 and deliberately references a current political controversy in South Korea where a prominent politician referred to ordinary Korean people as ‘pigs and dogs’.
This is powerful music and social activism from a band whose platform was precarious at the time. It is one of the most incisive songs of the 21st century in its context. Four months later it was followed up by ‘Spring Day’, which made them part of a movement that brought down the corrupt government.

Am I Wrong is from 2016 (from their Wings album) so their ages ranged from 19-23. I think even if this song is political it's very hard for BTS to just come out and say that's what the song is about. They could face serious backlash and even be blacklisted in South Korea for criticizing the Korean government and/or school system. Even with Spring Day so many people believe that song is about the Sewol Ferry disaster but BTS have never confirmed that.

They kinda confirmed in a interview back in 2020.
[In Esquire’s Winter cover story, Dave Holmes asks the members of BTS if “Spring Day” is about a specific event and he the interviewer mentions the Sewol Ferry disaster. BTS responds saying that “It is about a sad event, as you said, but it is also about longing,” Jin, the oldest member of the group, told Esquire.

This song is another sign that BTS has not been afraid to use their platform to give the messages they have wanted.
As you have been told, this song is about social criticism and makes clear reference to a phrase said by an official from an administration that was very harsh in persecuting artists who expressed opinions against him. Being that BTS was a group that was rising strongly, the bravery is really admired.
Another important point of Am I Wrong is that it is a fusion with blues, you might even recognize the samples of the blues of the same name by Keb' Mo', a five-time Grammy winner who has writing and producing credits on the song by BTS.
V or RM? You really don't need to have just one favourite. I support the 7 as a group, but also their solo projects because they all deserve it, but my bias is V. From the first second I heard his voice in the Hwarang OST, he captivated me, just like his character; I learned about the existence of BTS from that OST and I met them precisely in the Wings era, which is the album where Am I Wrong (2016) was included.

it is political. The incident they are referring to with the pigs and dogs line made it even to the LA Times. South Korean government official Na Hyang-wook, head of the Education Ministry’s policy bureau, was overheard to say to his friends while out drinking that 99% of his country’s people are “like dogs and pigs.”, that they have no ability to move up in the world and can be treated like animals - simply fed and kept alive.
Also the MAYDAY quote is actually about the day not the nautical sos signal, on May Day the working classes usually are off work & celebrate. Like the reference of storks and crow tits, it is goes back to the official. That the working classes will never aspire to greater things, and BTS is not having it. Considering that in 2016 they were still considered a fluke in Korea, it took a lot of guts to address these things in a song. Because you do not do this in general and especially not in KPop in South Korea.

Oh I love the rythm of this song. It is completeley different. The choreo is amazing. They were so brave with this lyrics. I bet the government was not happy. It looks like a fun song but the lyrics are a hard criticism.

Not just the lyrics but the choreography is political commentary and in South Korea could have gotten them blacklisted yet they full on did this live on TV. We do love them being subtly subversive, at the big Busan concert last month they performed Ma City in front of government officials (and has a whole bit about a city’s uprising for democracy) which might not sound like much but again kpop really stays far away from politics but BTS started with social commentary songs and keeps it up. The songs hook is based on one by Keb Mo an American blues player (I think he’s Grammy awarded) he’s so very talented and yes they do credit him in the song.

The camera man did a bad job he failed to film their cool moves which they practiced for hours and hours. There's a dance practice video that shows every single move. Jimins high notes. Heaven

It's an older song and it's definitely political. This was around the time if the Sewall incident and the the government try covering it up ,along calling people names just because their statues wasn't way up there. It was so bad that in the end the president got kicked out of office. This was really risky for the boys to put out at the time but they've always have fought against discrimination and injustice.

BTS is best live but I would advise you to watch an m/v or a lyric video first so you can hear the album version. You take pot luck with the quality of lives. HOME is a really great track. There is no m/v but they did an amazing remote performance for the Jimmy Fallon show.💜

This is a very political song
    It’s a protest and
Satirical song during the park presidency and
    Following
    1 the Sewol Ferry disaster
    2. A statement by the education ministry that 99 per cent of the population should be seen as dogs and pigs who would be happy as long as the 1% kept their stomachs full
    3. The arrest of two government officials over the creation of an artists black list
Park and other officials were arrested
Park is serving a 25 year prison term
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_South_Korean_political_scandal
The sample that begins the track is from American blues artist Keb’mo

Park was pardoned this year by the current President who is very problematic himself.
