    I bet the students at ATP fly 2 times a day, 5 days a week, no holidays. Basically crunch time for the entire 9 months. PURE HELL.

      That sounds fun better then going to college for 4 years and then having to get flight time on top of that

    I start my journey with ATP this upcoming Monday. I don't know anything about planes and don't have any or my knowledge test done. They've also shortened the time from 9 months to 7 months. I'm also not what you'd necessarily call a quick learner so keep me in your prayers. I plan on coming back to this comment in roughly 7 months considering everything goes well to report on how it went. BTW thanks for your honesty Base leg!

    Not sure if it’s too late for this comment , but you said if you go to ATP , you’ll be out with about 300 fight hours , okay. Let’s say you take the 4 year route in college , get all you licenses there , and by the time you finish you have your CFI , how many hours will you have then ? will you still have 300 like if it was ATP , or will have a lot more ? please answer my question , thank you !

      Great question. The benefits of going to ATP is you can accelerate through the program faster than at a University. If you are a Quick learner and it comes easy to you. At a University they break the ratings up into 4 years. The first year is private pilot. Second year is instrument. Third year is commercial. Fourth year is certified flight instructor. (CFI). I been out of school for a few years. So don’t quote me. But that’s typically how it’s been at University’s. And I’m sure it’s the same now. But in regard to overall flight time at the end of training. It all depends on you. If you can get all of your ratings at the bare minimum time requirement. Then you would have roughly 250-280 ish. But if you start having to redo lessons or need extra help. You’ll be at 300 ish or more.

      @@baseleg So basically you would finish it with the same amount of hours as you would in ATP ?

    Thanks for the video it answered a lot of my questions! Also do you have any thoughts about American Airlines cadet Academy or any other cadet Academy? Personally I’m planning on trying to be an airline pilot as quick as possible bc I’ve been told seniority is everything. I really appreciate it!

    • @baseleg
      @baseleg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I have no information about that. Sorry. But Seniority is the key. I would do as much research as you can about the cadet program and if it’s a good fit for you. Then go ahead and do it. But remember you don’t have to go through a cadet program to be a airline pilot

    You think after spending some odd years with a regional that a major will really care about a degree?

    • @baseleg
      @baseleg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      John W I know that the majors Prefer a 4 year degree. Can you get a job with out one? Sure... but it might be harder.

    Is there anytime to have a part time job at atp school?while housing at an atp school and doing it fulltime?

    • @kylejohnson3851
      @kylejohnson3851 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clapnn I’m going to ATP and can tell you it’s possible to work part time but you better be disciplined. ATP doesn’t recommend working and recommends studying and flying like it’s your full time job. The program requires a lot of self study so depends on how fast you can memorize and internalize the material and apply it in the air. It can be pretty intense. Did my instrument rating in 40 days which is screaming fast imo. I was stressed out for sure and I wasn’t working at all. Hope this helps

    ATP is an overpriced pilot mill turning out low skilled pilots.
