My brother got stuck in a snowdrift for hours. Luckily, he was going to a dog sledding competition, so he was surrounded by dogs to keep him warm.

I play in both a 4e and a 5e game. I am also running two 5e games.

In a lot of ways, she reminds me of The Cailleach (pr: Call-ahk), The hag of winter, from Irish mythology.
Both are winter goddesses, both have a giant owl form, etc. The main difference is that Auril is young and attractive instead of old, and, rather than being evil, The Cailleach can be good or evil based on her mood (chaotic neutral, I guess?).
I love your videos I have been listening for the past like month and have learned a lot and actually made my first campaign under 2 weeks and I’m so like overwhelmed of course with how hard it is to make a campaign because I’m so detailed on my stories and side quest and just weapon merchants and just so much stuff I have done under 2 weeks however the reason why i made the campaign under 2 weeks I was just so eager on making it and letting people join and how I made the world so big and just a lot of things in it of course but I do know now it takes longer to actually prepare the campaign that’s for sure depending on how deep and how big the world is but my world is pretty big of course it’s connected on continuing the campaign but I really have learned so much from you two I am absolutely grateful on both of your knowledge thank you so much for sharing your Dungeon master guidance spell (inside joke) thank you again! Hey guys. Love your stuff. I've been watching for a while now. I haven't watched all of it, but I am working my way through. I think it is really funny the way you tear down AO sometimes. It is true, though, that he is a fallible creature. Even though he is an overgod, he isn't the only one. He has dominion over some crystal spheres, but not all of them. He has equals like IO (Asgorath) who can even invade his domain when they choose. This is similar to Mystra and her control over the weave. The weave is just one type of magic in D&D. As an example, any of the power word spells come from a different form of magic not tied to the weave. I am currently building a world in a crystal sphere ruled over by an Overgod that thinks AO is a joke with limited potential that causes all the problems he deals with. This world is a very high magic / high tech world where potential and improvement are met with balance. All that said. I think you guys do a great job. Your info on the show reflects all the hard hours of research you do.

Hummm… Icewind dale. As a Drizzt fan, I wonder if there is an explanation for Auril not being a factor in those books… or maybe she is mentioned and I just don’t remember… it has been a bit since I did a full re-listen of the series.
I have a great Auril story. Minor spoilers for Rime of the Frostmaiden.
We’d just fought a sledgehammer wielding Tomb Tapper in the Mythalar chamber. Suddenly the room grows deathly cold. Due the a party members betrayal Auril had been summoned early to the tomb and we had a round to prepare. I can’t animate objects on a few coins and one other objects, and the icy goddess appears before us, silently watching.
My wizard steps forward to face this figure that had plagued us ever since we prevented a sacrifice in her name.
“Auril, after so long, I think it’s time we break the ice” and *WHAM* nail her in the face with the tomb tappers animated sledgehammer (plays the Eric Andrea We’ll Be Right Back jingle or the JoJo’s To Be Continuer bit).
Needless to say she was out for blood after that which conveniently kept her attention off of our Artifacer and Cleric who carried us during that fight. All according to plan :3

I did it! Let today be known as the day I finished "binging" the dungeoncast, from soup to nuts. I started listening not too long after the premiere of Honor Among Thieves last year which revitalized my interest in D&D, and about halfway in, I started to feel like I could actually manage DM-ing my own game.
If it's gonna happen, it will probably be inspired by your dungeon-building episodes, only turned to overdrive - I want to DM a fully dice-rolled campaign set in a world where chaos won and literally everything can happen. With all the knowledge from the podcast, I feel like I would be ready for anything.
Huge thanks for all the knowledge, inspiration, bad jokes and your (almost) unwavering enthusiasm. My long morning walks to work will never feel quite the same as when I knew there were always two episodes of Dungeoncast ready to fill the time, and I'm always going to look forward to the next episode. SHOUT OUT TO DEMOGORGON!
Are the clerics of Auril mandated to say "Auril-y?" at the end of all encounters?
Playing this campaign now. Last week we encounter auril for the first time with some minions. I got to use my white Dragonborn rune knight to suplex auril off a 30 ft cliff and the action surged to hit her with a flying elbow drop. It didn’t ultimately do much to her but the dm rping her as just bewildered that anyone would dare try this on her was funny
T-shirt weather…. I’m in Ohio, and wear UA T-Shirts & Shorts year round…. Even outside (with a sweatshirt). I throw on pants maybe a few times a year to use power-tools (like a chainsaw) or run our snow plow… light dusts I just throw on a backpack blower (in shorts) for a bit. Hah!

Nothing to do with Auril, but the wife and I are trying to start reading more books this year and I snagged a copy of name of the wind because I remembered William talking about it. So far really loving it! So thank you for the inadvertent suggestion my man :) (also icewind dale is one of my favorites)
