That thumbnail reminds me of the pillar of fire from the book of Exodus, also seen in the Prince of Egypt. Shout-out to Jeff Goldblum for voicing Moses's brother.
Been absolutely loving these Year of The Elements episodes!
I've been figuring out ways to work dnd elements into an Irish myth-based setting, and since the ancient Celts were animists, this year is going to come in handy.
Bit of trivia for an elemental myrmidon episode: Irish myth mentions the gods and other magical beings turning the elements into an armed host. So in a way, they have a basis in myth.
Really loving the inclusion of images alongside what you are talking about. Helps me tremendously, thanks
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW IMPORTANT THIS VIDEO IS TO ME. I'm a new DM and I'm running Pota currently. I would love love love if you did videos on the other 3 princess
Imix was the major villain for the first ever dnd campaign ive dmed
Imix: "I rule the Elemental Plane of Fire!"
Kossuth: "You really think that? You're adorable!"
Archomentals are the Princes of the Elements because top-tier Primordials like the Elemental Lords of Faerun can be considered their kings.
it is interesting how the lore can make the planar subtypes feel different. outer planes dont feel like inner planes, which dont feel like material planes, which dont feel like far realm stuff etc etc. at the same time they have enough carry over that none feel out of place, at least not to much.
Got my hot tea....my bowl of laughy leaf....time to enter......THE DUNGEON CAST!!!!!
50 degrees sounds great! It's 18 where I'm at, and my water pipes are frozen. Thank you kindly for the entertainment today and thinking of hot places!
Will's all "it's cold outside... it's like 60⁰F" and it's like 10⁰F where I am 😂
That remark made me side-eye my window.. I'm also in California; at least the parts where we get frequently get dumped on by snow lol.
Love you guys, keep on keeping on.
I love what you guys do, thanks for everything!
Painting fast and long enough to guide the party to safety from a kaiju is a hell of an encounter objective
Brian refusing to move on until Will did the conversion 😂
It's not that Princes of the Apocalypse sucks, it's just very by the numbers running through dungeons with elemental flavors. So, great for a table that wants a simple, pretty on the rails adventure (you can even mix and match who the final boss is). But, if your table wants more roll play or intrigue, it's not for them.
I'm so excited about this year's theme!
Wooohooo great timing guys I’m running a module that features Imix!
keep the amazing videos coming im always so excited when a new one comes out
Princes of the Apocalypse was written as something of an homage to The Temple of Elemental Evil. It has been reviewed negatively by most, but I am looking to add it to my library (a used copy so WotC doesn't get my money) because as you mentioned, it has cool stuff that I could take and use in my own campaign.
It has really good bones for a campaign to run. My players absolutely loved what I did with it.
I think with a bit of plot reworking, it will be just fine. As written, it's kind of nonsense.
And good man for not giving WotC money.
Happy New Year! Love you two.
Are you going too cover the ice lord Cryonax? Also excellent video as always and shout out to demogorgon and his ixitxachitls homie!!😎
The "converting days to metric" joke reminded me that in Forgotten Realms, they kinda converted weeks to metric. Rather than 7 day weeks in FR, they use tendays, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Nice video, but for the record, the Plane of fire does have one overarching ruler that Imix answers too..that would be Kossuth, the neutral Greater Deity/primordial of fire, and the strongest being on the plane
Only for faerun.
@@ReverseUnicorn I mean the lore also states the Efreeti sultan is scared of him, & the city of brass the second biggest city in the Great Wheel after Sigil, so in my head that establishes him as multiplanar
True story for the concept of a pit fiend avatar: I wanted the threat of a pit fiend for a level 11 party, so they had to stop it from coming through a portal. When they did, it blew up and reconstituted as the 4E immolith. I used the atropal stat block from ToA with fire flavor and salamander minions. It worked pretty well as a CR 11 pit fiend.
ITS THE YEAR OF THE ELEMENTALLLLL!!!! P.S. it’s negative temps in IN rn.lmao
I know this is late but Imix is summoning Fire elementals with their maximum hit points so he burns 30hp to get a fire elemental with 156 each
Fire Ginasi+warlock of levestus+ring of winter= weird reoccurring villain that keeps the players guessing
Had no clue about Imix. Can’t wait to finish the episode ! Any plans for an episode on Kossuth?
Very possibly
he can be put into an iron flask
Imix, the Prince of Elemental Fire, WILL burn everything down if you call him iMix.
I'd hate for him to get loose in the plane of dry leaves and oily rags.
Just drop levistus on him, lol
Real strategy though, cause if he tried to melt him it's not like asmo would allow that
can you guys do an episode on time dragons
Yes we will at some point!
@@Thedungeoncast great!
The elementals are stronger the simpler the concept they represent is
A heat elemental would be extreamly powerful as it was the first concept
Then a fire elemental would be slightly weaker because the concept in more complex and could not exist without heat
A smoke elemental would be another step lower due to them needing both heat and fire to exist
Love the show, keep up the great work guys. Shout out to Demogorgon!
