  • Fab conditions for fishing this night, water was calm, tides were perfect and the fish were biting. Fished two rods, both with pulley pennels with squid and mackerel for bait. Dog fish all night long but managed a decent bull huss. Sadly no scales to measure but other anglers are agreeing that it's weighed was around 12-14lb.

    Good little video . Just moved down South and looking for marks along the coast I can fish on my own . Could you direct me towards that bay or even just name of it 😉. Cheers

      Thanks Steve, glad you liked the video. The bay is called Wattick, it’s just off Dale, if you search it there is plenty in Sea Angler which will direct you to the mark. If you’re after some good rock marks, I’d suggest St Brides and Strumble head. For beaches, Newgale and Amroth are generally the best. I’d also suggest grabbing an old fashioned OS map, they seem to include old piers etc which Google and and online map don’t seem to include, great for spotting marks nobody knows. Tight lines, Ben

      Apologies for jumping in. What is an "os map" old school?
      I also live in Pembrokeshire not long moved trying to find quiet places on beach to head to unfortunately I'm limited capabilities and 2 kids under 16 that come with me and no longer able to do my old school fishing of rocks

    Great fish. I’d be tempted to wear a life jacket at that spot if I was on my own, especially in the wet.

      Yes certainly agree! I’ll be honest, I didn’t have one at the time and thought the same. Some crazy fluke waves here!

    Loving the content, I’m down in Pembrokeshire for my second summer season. Hoping to do a fair bit more sea fishing this season and fingers crossed it will be much more successful!

      @@bengriffithsseaangling2138 100% this place is lush!! I’m slowly getting through your videos! If I was to head out with my lure fishing Rod over the next few weeks rock fishing. What species would be best to target??

    • @bengriffithsseaangling2138
      @bengriffithsseaangling2138  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samuelhamer186 head over to St Brides, that’s a good spot for many species! Mackerel are now starting to come in, but only starting so picking a few up would be lucky! Bass are about too so perhaps seeking them out is an idea. Other species would generally include pollack and wrasse. As we come into May now it will really liven up. Then I’d say there are far more reliable places to fish at. Do you fish with bait at all?

      @@bengriffithsseaangling2138 sweet, amazing advice! I’ve tried it a few times but, I find that I’m buying these pre tied rigs and I don’t actually understand them. I’m going to try give it a go more over the season!

    • @bengriffithsseaangling2138
      @bengriffithsseaangling2138  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samuelhamer186 this might help:
      1) a flapper rig is called a flapper as the line isn’t clipped down so flaps abour when you cast. It’s short range and good for sandy marks.
      2) a pulley rig is clipped down and is great for rocky marks as the weight is lifted up when a fish takes the bait so the lead doesn’t snag in the rocks! As it’s clipped down it’s great for casting.
      3) the most simple of rigs, a running ledger, allows greatest bite detection and is fantastic for bass on clean ground!
