      Make sure the tank is cycled and shrimp are fed nicely. I found it hard first starting out with the fish store shrimps as they seem to not live that long after getting them probably due to the stress transporting them. Good to keep things stable and untouched which a well cycled tank would help on

    i love powdered food. i powder hikari shrimp pellets in my mortar and pestle, mix in a bit of solid pellets, a bit of bug bites, and spirulina. But I've got endlers, chili rasboras, shrimp, mystery snails, black worms, and isopods. tons of cleanup crew so I'm not too worried about a bit of uneaten food (and I only feed once or twice a week)

    I am having great success with my cherry shrimp, and I think it is because I saw your video with the lava rock pile. I had a few lava rocks in the tank, but after that I put more in there.

    Cardinal Tetras are like micro Tuna.
    If you don't like little bugs, before adding shrimp to your tank, put in a few Cardinal Tetras and take them out after the tank is cleared and put in the shrimp. They are hardier and bigger than Neon Tetras 👌🏽

    I’m giving this a try man!! I’ve got to try it. I’ve got 3-4 different colored neocaridinas. They were all gifted to me by friends I’ve made at the pet shops.
    I’ve got extra filters going in cycled tanks for new tanks I’ll be setting up soon. How long should I have the filters running in the new tanks until I bring the shrimp in the tanks? I believe I saw a video of yours where you explained it but I can’t find it.

    • @FishKeepingAnswers

      How’s that stand/set up coming on 🤔

    • @pilotavery
      @pilotavery หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having extra filters running in a tank for about a month is usually enough.

      @@FishKeepingAnswers currently working on it now. My wife is pregnant currently so im home to help her with our 1 year old so I work on it when I get free time. It’ll be done by this week end and I’ll prob have the new tanks up with it. 🦐🙏🏼

      @@pilotavery thank you! I appreciate the info

    • @pilotavery
      @pilotavery หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LesDL69 Wait to clarify, a new filter should be in an established tank for a month until the bacteria grows on that filter. Technically as soon as you put that filter in a brand new tank it's already doing its job so you could put in the fish right away because the media is there. Keep in mind that there is no biofilm or bacteria on any other surface yet so however much filter you would normally need you might consider doubling it. For a shrimp tank it should be enough anyway.

    Are seed shrimp bad for shrimp tanks? I am asking cause i dont have shrimp yet but my first tank with my betta and 2 snails out of no where exploded with seed shrimp and my betta doesnt touch them lol.

    • @FishKeepingAnswers
      @FishKeepingAnswers  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am not sure they are bad, although they will naturally compete for food. I just don’t like them. I find they distract from the shrimp I do want in the tank 😟
