I call it now, Sokka is a Battlemaster Fighter. He's tricky and unlike the rest of the party he wears armor. Also, while Katara never changes into anything, second level of druid would be worth it for Circle of the Land for some bonus spells and a bonus Druid Cantrip. It's not a bad way to do a bender, especially now since you can just use your wild shapes to summon a familiar. This could be how the party gets Momo since Aang had nothing for that.

Honestly, she strikes me more as a Drunken Master. Sure, Open Hand Technique fits, but the rest of it doesnt really fit. (Self heal, and sanctuary at ghe start of the day, primarily). DM gives you movement and positioning options right away, then a bit of acrobatic flair, as well as Performance proficiency built in. And then the 6th and 11th level abilities keep you standing, moving, and possibly getting rid of disadvantage for some of her more impressive feats. And then, at 17th level, you get the ability that lets you make up to 5 attacks in your Flurry Bonus action, so long as each are against a diffent foe. And you can make each one of them a Stunning Strike if you're willing to spend the Ki. This is something she does multiple times in the series, when surrounded (mainly 2, once when fighting the Terra Team at the Drill, and again at the party on Ember Island when shes surrounded by boys and gets overwhelmed.)
Hot take: Replace Way of the Four Elements with Way of the Astral Self and flavor text the arms/aura as your water whips. You get reach, can use WIS for unarmed attacks, and can use WIS for STR checks and saves which would let you grapple people with your water whips.
I made my own build for this when I saw it was announced by doing 8 levels of Way of Mercy Monk for some non-spell based healing and some blood-bending or ice augmented attacks as the reflavoured necrotic damage, combined with 12 levels of Circle of the Land (Arctic) Druid for some more spells to do actual water-bending and for the ability to wild shape as a lot of water-bending techniques are actually based around certain animals like the octopus form (the giant octopus stat-block is actually really good for wild shaping).

Sad about the Sokka bashing, he's such a sweet guy once Suki teaches him a lesson. I was surprised there were no blood bending abilities too, even though she refuses to use it. Loved the build as always though!!!
Did you add Spare the Dying just to make that joke? It makes perfect sense for Katara to auto-stabilize anyone anyone, even if they've been struck by lightning. I wasn't expecting it. Guidance and Resistance as "Mom energy". That was fun.
I think it would be dope if you added a section at the end or maybe in the description for power building. My DM encourages us to power build because our home brew campaign is tough as hell.
Before watching prediction: I don't think this is going to be Monk! Maybe 1 level for unarmored defense, max 3 levels cus I think 4 elements has a water whip thing. But primarily I think this build is going to be Druid and/or Cleric Edit: well color surprised! I thought for sure there'd be more druid for watery spells, but honestly this turned out really cool. Sad that a monk subclass seemingly has more flavorful uses of water than all the other classes lol
Idk what Mewtwo's build is gonna be but I predict that Shazam is gonna be a Genie Warlock (at least 6 levels for (almost) at will flying, extra lightning damage on your punches and the ability to disappear to the rock of eternity. Tome pact probably to get shocking grasp, lightning lure and, idk, light?) mixed with Storm Herald Barbarain (Unarmed Defense, bigger punches, extra movement speed and if you go with the Storm Herald you can shoot lightning bolts as a bonus action while in rage. Rage itself can just be flavored as the Shazam transformation) While in rage you have lightning, big punches, resistances and flying as well. Variant Human with the martial adept feat for Unarmed Fighting or the elemental adept feat for Lightning (I would take the punches tho). Very shazamy
I’m currently working on a character made of coral and sea rocks that has water bending powers but uses it to power up his weapons and his coral covered fists. Maybe he could be able to use boiling hot water to add fire damage as well.
Not sure when it would work best for the algorithm, but I’d love to see a Paul Atreides build leading up to when Warner Brothers puts dune up for streaming.
Thanks for making this man! I'm not only gonna make a katara character but a jinbei styled character from one piece! Gonna mix some of the offensive water spells with a monk character. And then make several other water monk characters 👍
I coulda swore you did Katara already... I've been struggling trying to build a similar character to Katara in terms of abilities, the main differences being she needs to use a Longsword (Not a big deal, just use Tasha's optional Monk rule to let her use it as a Monk weapon) & a curse that turns you into a Rabbit (I'm thinking just take that 2nd level in Druid & flavor anything stronger than Rabbit as Rabbit-Angel hybrid forms). While it'd be more powerful being something like this Katara build, I'm kinda thinking Monk8/Cleric8/Druid4, I feel like Sorcerer8/Monk8/Paladin2/Druid2 would be better for Flavor, but that's a problem for obvious reasons. You've really inspired me to try & build a lot of characters from more Niche series, thank you!
You should make a Sokka build one of these days before moving over to the New Team Avatar, preferably starting with Bolin since I'm sure Mako shares most his skillset with Zuko, as well as Korra to Aang.
...So. I guessed you were going to do a druid/monk multiclass... but my gawd. Also "Multiclassing at level 2 because I can't control myself." Same Tulok. Same.
Colossus down just came out a few days ago so see if you can make a build based on either Nika and her MechaNika, or Agatha which could a an interesting True Polymorph build.
Instead of taking 1 level of Druid, wouldn't it make more sense to take the Magic Initiate feat at level 1 for Shape Water, Frostbite and one of the 1st level spells? And wouldn't Command and/or Hold Person make sense for bloodbending, cause there didn't seem to be any, unless I missed something.
When I was trying to build Aqualad from Young Justice I found Water Whip a bit weak, since it eats ki points too fast. I ended up using Torn Whip with a bit of reflavoring instead.
Tulok have you done a MacGyver build? I haven't seen all of your character builds but I would really enjoy if you do make a one. He could get any group out of the fire with uh... Flask of Oil, rope and... an abacus.
Starting a campaign 4000 years before the events of ATLAB. Im starting as a mad waterbending pirate who will eventually bloodbend and use that to run a pirate ship with a crew of corpses
I was really expecting some Sorcerer given that bending powers are seemingly bloodline-related and for the one metamagic in particular that lets you change the damage type of a spell. With that any spell can be water(ice) based.
I knew this was going to be a mix of cleric, druid and monk, but I actually thought she would be a tempest cleric (you could play a tempest cleric without thunder/lightning spells, you just won't deal as much damage) and I thought for healing, you could have her as a dreams druid (wild shape is optional for druids as you've said).
No one ever "destroys the undead" in A:TLA, but in Legend of Korra people are shown using special waterbending skills to calm rampaging spirits. Maybe Katara learned that skill at some point!
For Katara’s slow fall I like to imagine she drops a bucket of water to stop fall damage like Minecraft

Finally, finished the whole set. Also, water whip being Force damage doesn't really make sense, think you meant Bludgeoning.
Before watching prediction: I don't think this is going to be Monk! Maybe 1 level for unarmored defense, max 3 levels cus I think 4 elements has a water whip thing. But primarily I think this build is going to be Druid and/or Cleric
Edit: well color surprised! I thought for sure there'd be more druid for watery spells, but honestly this turned out really cool. Sad that a monk subclass seemingly has more flavorful uses of water than all the other classes lol
I clicked so fast when that notification. My favourite character builder and my favourite fictional character.
I’m excited for this video
Extra spell choices: * exist *
Tulok: LONGSTRIDER AND JUMP
Turn undead could be equated to a water bending technique seen in legend of korra that can calm raging spirits with a pretty light show
Fun video for sure! Personally, I would have dipped deeper into Druid for Wall of Water, Tidal Wave, & Watery Sphere.
The four dislikes on this video were Ozai, Azula, Admiral Zhao, and Anderson Cooper
The turn undead technically could be the spirit pacification stuff from season 2 of Korra. xD
Groans*
She and her brother Sokka really saved the day
When they found the Ava-cicle Aang
Katara freed him then revived him too
When Azula took her aim
You should make a Sokka build one of these days before moving over to the New Team Avatar, preferably starting with Bolin since I'm sure Mako shares most his skillset with Zuko, as well as Korra to Aang.
...So. I guessed you were going to do a druid/monk multiclass... but my gawd.
Also "Multiclassing at level 2 because I can't control myself."
Same Tulok. Same.
I’d love to see you make these characters in a Mutants and Mastermind for all those insane character creations
Great build, hope to see Azula soon
I ran out of my second glass of water right before you said we were gonna be short of water at the end
Ah, my build prediction was wrong. I was guessing 15 Arctic Druid and 5 Four Elements Monk. Still loved the video, we need more healers!
I CANT WAIT!!!
Yup! Amazing!!!
Colossus down just came out a few days ago so see if you can make a build based on either Nika and her MechaNika, or Agatha which could a an interesting True Polymorph build.
All I can say is that ending comment better not age poorly Tulok...
That and thank you for the build as always.
I took a sip of water every time you said water, now I need to use the restroom.
I could see astral monk work well with a water bender, just reflavor the spectral arms as water arms
The level in druid seems to be a waste
When I was trying to build Aqualad from Young Justice I found Water Whip a bit weak, since it eats ki points too fast. I ended up using Torn Whip with a bit of reflavoring instead.
The Savage Worlds setting of 50 Fathoms is one of the few settings I can think of where water elemental magic is one of the stronger options.
Cleric, Druid, AND MONK?!
Also who else noticed that Monk's level 2 was written "Monk 1" in the video?
How to play HK-47 in Dungeons and Dragons (Knights of the Old Republic Build for D&D 5E)
I'm only at the cleric/monk/druid part, but I'm expecting the astral way mink specialisation, reflavouring the arms as water.
I'd have started in Druid, she can't heal at "low level".
Up next - Sparky sparky boom man!
Tulok you might not have cast a wide net aiming for Yakov AND Avatar fans, but you caught at least one.
I would love to see Voldo from soul Caliber
Race: .........human...? XD
Took a sip every time you said "water". Went through a tall glass and a half. Hydrate or diedrate
7:15 Forgot to change a 1 to a 2 there.
This looks pretty fun 👌
No one ever "destroys the undead" in A:TLA, but in Legend of Korra people are shown using special waterbending skills to calm rampaging spirits. Maybe Katara learned that skill at some point!
Curious question, on the Goku video he got the foresight spell, did it get added to the sorcerer spell list? If not then how did he get it?
Its not in an official source but it was in the class feature variants unearthed arcana.
@@bean2562 Oh. Thank you.
Want to see a Sokka build so bad!
