Bleeding the brakes is a pain on any bike. Not called ‘bleedin’ brakes’ for nothing! Well done and good photography and finding the leaking nipple due to the damaged seat face in the caliper body. (Same prob happens to domestic water supply taps) I’ve always found that the easiest way is to find a patient friend willing to squeeze the lever on command. Then with a topped up reservoir and hose from nipple into drain jar. Are you ready? Ok, open nipple/squeeze lever gently and hold/close nipple/pause/open nipple/squeeze lever/hold/close nipple/pause/open nipple/squeeze lever/hold - keep this up until clear brake fluid is flowing into the jar. The lovely Honda Super Dream 250N - iconic! (Nice retro chest of drawers in the workshop!)
Thank you. I would love to find that helpful friend to help out. But your description seems spot on. 👍🏻 The drawers have been through a lot and may be on the move again soon.
Well done!!! 😊 Dirt and scratches on the bleeding nipple seat was a new one, never seen that before. It is just incredible to see all the strange issues you have stumbled upon. It's also impressive to see how you manages to stay calm, spend time on analyzing the problem, try out different methods and don't give up until the problem is solved! Persistence pays off! 👍 I hope all the strange issues are sorted now? 🤞
Thank you. I think that was the last mechanical component to be fitted, once I've done the cosmetics there should just be simple items remaining like refitting turn signals, mirrors etc then a final strip and build. As this was a dry build. But I'm not expecting too many more surprises.
I was watching you with the caliper thinking you've got a leak somewhere, well done finding it,I use a Mity Vac on mine, much easier Ryan, your getting on to the easier part of the project now 🤔
@@RyansGarageUK I've got too much experience of paint lol,I'm no expert on spraying but you just want to get a smooth even finish, you might find it easier if you hang side panels to spray rather than laying them flat,it dries quick and easy to sort out if it goes wrong👍
another enjoyable vid Ryan and another moment of "how the hell did that happen?" - I mean what could possibly have caused that damage in the bleed nipple housing - I just don't know! glad you watched Nat doing his tank this week and got some tips, it was great viewing, learnt so much. keep it up I'm still looking forward to your episodes each week
Flying along now. That calliper damage is strange, never seen that before. The only thing I can think of is possibly corrosion it is an old machine and you don’t know anything about it’s past.
You dont seem to understand the dynamics of having Air in the system. Air always rises to the highest point it can so Pumping fluid into the caliper would work if the brake line union was at the highest point which it isn't. All you're doing is leaving air bubbles sitting in the top of the caliper bore just under the bleed nipple which is the highest point. You won't push them through the line no matter how you try if they can't get there in the first place! You're better off bleeding them in the normal way... The bleed nipple seat can be re-dressed with the careful use of a drill bit of the appropriate size. That seat looks like something has got trapped in there and become embedded in the seat then has been dislodged creating the leak. Always keep brake components as immaculately clean as you can to prevent this re-occuring. Those disc brakes were never the best so they need all the help they can get!.....
Had a chuckle at 6.20 looked like a patient in hospital on a drip!

Always learning from your videos Ryan thank you so much.
Looking forward to seeing the tank painted and the next episode.
Your a star 👍😊
Cheers Jim, I appreciate your support and comments.

Impatiently waiting for your next upload!, loving your videos so far mate!, coming along nicely now!
I'm uploading it this afternoon. 😀
@@RyansGarageUK Was a mega episode!, can’t wait for the next one! 😀
You were lucky ! When I tried to bleed the brake on my 250N all the threads came out with the bleed nipple , and that was 30yrs ago lol . Fair play .
Hi, Then I think I was lucky, as if I had stripped the threads I'm not sure I would have been capable of sorting that out. Cheers. Ryan
Well done Ryan glad you found the problem with the caliper and getting it fixed always a good moment when you beat the issue
Cheers Sean, it was beginning to beat me so was glad to finally sort it.
Well spotted!
Thanks Alan.

Thanks Derek, I do hope so, although I have almost no experience of paint so may be another steep learning curve.

Thanks Tim, and I have no bloody idea how that damage was caused. It did seem very strange to me.
Good show
Thanks Robert. That's appreciated.

Hi Chris. Yes I agree, this old bike has had a long and unknown history, so whilst anything is possible. I suspect it was some strange corrosion.
👍👍👍
Thank you.
