If the video is too fast it is not hard to stop and even go back and watch again, this is how I succeeded. Learning new complicated things takes patience. I wish you success
The things that slowed me down and confused me were the times when he would shift it off screen a little and fold some, then bring it back and when his hands blocked the entire way. I guessed a bit here and there, but ultimately I made a cute little elephant. Mine is tiny, of course, because I used a regular sheet of paper folded into six little square sheets.
My God! This is what i call real deal! It take me one hour and my elephant looks little bit sick : ) But I have it! (The sink step should be explained better - I was about to give up... )
Tetszik! A daruból indulunk, közepes nehézségű, jó lenne az utólsó percekből többet látni! A készítő keze sok helyet eltakar!. Gyakorlottabbaknak így is elkészül!!!!
i really can''t follow this tutorial....i guess it's partly because you zoomed in too much...i can't locate which part you are working on. also this video doesn't have detailed diagrams and captions....could you please redo this one? i searched all videos and only you did this type of elephant....the original diagram by li jun is even harder to follow....please.....thanks.
The little elephant looks perfect. Thank you :) Also given that this is a really old video, one can see how much this channel has improved it's video production quality over the years.
I made it... but the face was a bit difficult to make. There are like no reference points and I couldn't really see what you were doing. But I'm glad that I made it and it actually looks quite good :)
after about an hour and a half of flipping and flopping. i finally got it! it'd be better with more detail shown around 8minutes into it, but at least i finally got it. thanks! it's so adorable :)
The filming was quick, stopped the video and rewinded many times. However the model is fun to fold and it looks funny to have an elephant on the table :) thank you for the video
It would be really helpful if you could fold on camera so people know what on earth is going on seeing as it is such an intricate design and you can easily get lost if you can't see what is going on.
ok, so I'm not quite sure whats going on here, yes a little more wide-angle would have been nice but if you've already done some origami, this is absolutely doable! thanks for the video!
Nice! I tried it with 24 x 24 cm thick 140 gramms carton. The folds have been a bit hard to make in case of the thickness but in the end a nice elephant was made, stabil and puffy. I my opinion a good shown video, but definitely not for beginners
It's so........... cute superrrrrrrr elephant and I've done it.. It has come very well and we've all enjoyed.. Thanks.. It is very clearly taught in an easily understandable manner.. We are all welcoming such a beautiful kind of art, in a SIMPLE and IN LESS TIME DURATION..
It is hard to see because of the camera after about 7:30 or so in places what's going on. A thing to note is sometimes it's more clearly shown on the camera with the second side than the first! Failing that, if you keep (frustrating as it is) scrolling back a little way and watching the lines and looking at it trying to get your bearings it does help. Also tip with paper: you really need paper that holds folds well for this -- cutting up an old gift bag isn't a way to go, you'll end up potentially needing a couple of paper clips to keep its rear tucked in, for one.
people need to calm down. it really isn't that hard to follow.. just pause it a replay each step a couple times. i've been doing origami for two days and got it!
Jo Nakashima plz can you make a remake of this while •zooming out do we see the whole paper •have the little diagrams in the top right corner like in some vids • captions plz we need it
Congratulations, jonakashima now know's he's got a fan, but let's talk about the real deal: just PLEASE zoom out every few folds here and there, because the main reason people like me get lost is because you're folding it too close to the camera and we can't see what's going on with the whole paper, that's all
if i cold pull down a rainbow, i would write your name on it, to show everyone how happy i am to have a person as good as you (to teach me arts and crafts)
Basically you know the crease that you made I the step before the sink fold? Well you are opening up the model and reversing the direction of these creases. That means you hate to turn the mountain folds into valley folds and valley folds into mountain folds. As for the new crease you have to follow, at the top of the crease you made before the sink fold after you open up the model there will be a small polygon shape made. Make a new crease (a mountain fold)
Worked out well. There were some difficult bits to understand but got it eventually. Quite a cute model and i like all the shaping you can do to make it look the way you want. Thanks for the tutorial!
Watched it all straight through from beginning to end; without actually doing any copying; and, I must say it does look difficult; not for beginners...more for intermediates/or, experts, possibly.
The model was fairly simple if you followed along slowly, but the filming was done very poorly. I think jonakashima should do a remake video for this model. Thumbs if you agree.
oh my god I had like 3 breakdowns but I made it! and how you think we can explain the open sink part? I watched it again and again and then I got it, that's it
The camera is way too close to the fingers and the model so it is very difficult to see what he is doing, his fingers are in the way all the time and a spoken explanation would also be helpful. Otherwise I managed to make it and with a little bit of practice I bet my elephants will look as good as his! =)
i tried with a smaller sheet (about 15x15) and with lighter paper. at the end the head tended to droop away from the body which i fixed by pinching inwards the inside fold where it connects to the body. thank you this is very cute =)
i can't follow at 8:38 :/ i never know which side or edge you are working on... but at least i got further till the last time i watched this a few days ago^^ good video! I'll try it again, sometime^^
I really love your origami, but i've noticed that its harder for me to follow along when you use paper colored on both sides. Could you use paper that's white on one side? Thumbs up if you agree, I'm sure he'd do it if we all ask :]
Continued* - to turn the shape you are looking at into an upside down triangle. It's a difficult step but I hope this will make things a little clearer.
Well I essentially got it done, though i should've used more flexible paper to make it look more like the model; trying again for a class; if they're good they'll get the ones I make
i think i just wasted my time trying to make sth using my imagination and not actual information and guidance! what a surprise! it would REALLY help if you zoomed out so we could see what exactly is being folded! and also if you talked us through it, instead of writing a sentence for every hundreadth fold you made! thanks!
Really the vid is pretty clear until you hit about the 8 minute mark. Looked at the model design and these too are pretty vague. While origami is an art, and does take practice occasionally poor or vague instruction doesn't help improve one's abilities.
go a little bit ahead on the video, he do the same thing on the other side and WE SEE what he does! (and it's better, for true ;)) Dear Jo, I really LOVE the fact that you don't speak (because for me, Origami is a kind of meditation, doesn't need any bla-bla ;)) but PLEASE, SHOW US what you're DOING! Your camera is too close sometimes! Thank you!!!! (and I think your paper is a bit too heavy for the model...)
Hi. I'm quite lost when you start shaping the body of the elephant. The picture of the elephant looks gorgeous but I can't seem to make out what is going on after a while. Please help
You really need to use paper with two different colors. Also you need to go into more explanation and camera views at 7:50. Otherwise, good video until then.
thanks for the vid but after a certain point, mainly around the head assembly the video was of no use, zoomed in far to close, couldn't see the technique used. Nice thumbs tho.
Am I the only person who has made this model? I've made one from a sheet of printer paper and from a sheet of kami paper. I think this video is very easy to follow along. Honestly people, if you're not blind you can pretty much make this, he's showing you the steps right in front of you! If you can't make this, then there's no way you can follow a diagram.
If the video is too fast it is not hard to stop and even go back and watch again, this is how I succeeded. Learning new complicated things takes patience. I wish you success

If you add an audible explanation as you make the folds it would really help those of us who are not strictly visual learners.
I think it would be very helpful if you also listed the type of paper you have used in the description :) Maybe that's just me haha.
It's actually amazing what you can do with a single piece of paper O.o
i really can''t follow this tutorial....i guess it's partly because you zoomed in too much...i can't locate which part you are working on. also this video doesn't have detailed diagrams and captions....could you please redo this one? i searched all videos and only you did this type of elephant....the original diagram by li jun is even harder to follow....please.....thanks.
@starkiss446 24cm x 24cm (it's on the video 0:23)
The little elephant looks perfect. Thank you :) Also given that this is a really old video, one can see how much this channel has improved it's video production quality over the years.

it'd be better with more detail shown around 8minutes into it, but at least i finally got it.
thanks! it's so adorable :)
From the "open sink" part onward, I lost it. I can't fold anything the way you do.
same
The sink is a hard part, but finally I overcomed this difficulty. Great Origami!
I usually make a bunch of origami creations and sell them at my school, thanks so much for teaching how to make these!
Woa, It's really cute elephant. Your hand is magic. I like your chanel very much. Thanks
This is so cute. I folded the ends of the legs out to make tusks when I finished. Not quite as tidy a box, but... tusks! Thanks for the video!
The filming was quick, stopped the video and rewinded many times. However the model is fun to fold and it looks funny to have an elephant on the table :)
thank you for the video
It's very easy to follow, just watch it step by step, and rewatching some of the parts that you don't get. This is not bad instructions at all.
It would be really helpful if you could fold on camera so people know what on earth is going on seeing as it is such an intricate design and you can easily get lost if you can't see what is going on.
I think the video is fine, it's close enough so we can see in detail and he doesn't leave any steps out. Mine turned out super cute, thanks so much!
ok, so I'm not quite sure whats going on here, yes a little more wide-angle would have been nice but if you've already done some origami, this is absolutely doable! thanks for the video!
Don't give up . Take your time and you will do it right
Nice! I tried it with 24 x 24 cm thick 140 gramms carton. The folds have been a bit hard to make in case of the thickness but in the end a nice elephant was made, stabil and puffy. I my opinion a good shown video, but definitely not for beginners

A nice, elegant model.

AN HOUR!!! It took me a whole freaking hour to make this!! I got lost at the ear pleating part.... and the face shaping part...
people need to calm down. it really isn't that hard to follow.. just pause it a replay each step a couple times. i've been doing origami for two days and got it!
Jo Nakashima plz can you make a remake of this while

My thoughts while watching this video: Okay, yeah. I got this. Okay that looks simple. Open sink? You lost me.
Great comment! Some people are seriously irritating complaining about the most stupid things.
I feel awesome, I managed to do it neatly on my second attempt!
great elephant, mine looks fine, thanks for the video!
Some other guys here need to try harder. It seems doable for a beginner like me.
Basically you know the crease that you made I the step before the sink fold? Well you are opening up the model and reversing the direction of these creases. Worked out well. There were some difficult bits to understand but got it eventually. Quite a cute model and i like all the shaping you can do to make it look the way you want. Thanks for the tutorial!
This project does not use 'random' folding, most of those folds are folds that you use for other origami figures.
i could understood the whole video. i personally think its really clear. Thank you so much for the 352 time. Your videos are great
lost me at the sink, gonna washup now, ty for posting.
lesson learned: don't attempt origami late at night; it doesn't turn out well when you are too tired to move your fingers accurately.
Sooo true! I read quite late your comment and now I have a ball of paper in front of me instead of having that cute origami elephant. LOL
I threw it away. It ended up being an elephant without legs and it was really creepy
Thanks! You're awesome!
The sink fold was a little tricky but my brain came in handy
Adjust your camera a bit at the open sink part so what you are doing can actually be seen.
I watched it again and again and then I got it, that's it
It's so weird I don't have to do the step at 10:30... I don't get the two little triangles =/
It's so cute!! ^^ Thank you for the tutorial =)
10:08 theres supposed to be a little part sticking out but i cant make it stick out?
The camera is way too close to the fingers and the model so it is very difficult to see what he is doing, his fingers are in the way all the time and a spoken explanation would also be helpful. Otherwise I managed to make it and with a little bit of practice I bet my elephants will look as good as his! =)
Nice one! Such a cute, original and funny little model!
i tried with a smaller sheet (about 15x15) and with lighter paper. at the end the head tended to droop away from the body which i fixed by pinching inwards the inside fold where it connects to the body. thank you this is very cute =)
THE ELEPHANT IS SO CUTE! ITS MY FAVORITE ANIMAL!!
IDK if i needed to do all CAPS, lol.
Thanks! There are also other origami elephants on my channel:
th-cam.com/video/-dWRopbNdeY/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/w-M4u3oQqdA/w-d-xo.html
It's a very nice elephant model but difficult to make without any verbal instructions and some of the steps made off the camera.
keep trying the bird base, it is hard at first but then gets really easy :D
What was the kind of paper used in the clip? I used the colored construction paper but the shape was not as good as the one in the clip? :(
cool elephant..looks cute!
супер!!! только в некоторых моментах, Вы делаете делаете слоника вне камеры! =)
at 12:00 you fold the inside from when do you fold? and why dont you use guidefoldline anymore.!
the video is from 2010... his videos weren't as good as how they are now
This was awesome - was lost for a while, but came out good. Thanks!!
os sorprendiste con el elefante quedo muy bello
i can't follow at 8:38 :/ i never know which side or edge you are working on...
but at least i got further till the last time i watched this a few days ago^^
good video! I'll try it again, sometime^^
I really love your origami, but i've noticed that its harder for me to follow along when you use paper colored on both sides. Could you use paper that's white on one side? Thumbs up if you agree, I'm sure he'd do it if we all ask :]
where do you get the paper
its kinda like a rabbit ear but without any raw edges so you have to open up the model a bit before you do it
Woohoo! I finished it. -Compares kashima's to mines- Aww dammit going to make a new one.
Continued* - to turn the shape you are looking at into an upside down triangle. It's a difficult step but I hope this will make things a little clearer.
Голубой слоник, наш оркестр пришел!
i made the elephant, thank for the origami, cool!!
me resulto el elefante pero creo que me demore 20 minutos en terminarlo. lo hice!!!!!
It looks so cool! But its soo confusing D: only made it until about 8-9 min.
@102gab i knew you couldn't make this quit complaining about origami that is amazing
Around 11:30 are you supposed to guess where to fold? Otherwise great video
Well I essentially got it done, though i should've used more flexible paper to make it look more like the model; trying again for a class; if they're good they'll get the ones I make
This pretty cute elephant from the finishing one I really like but tried hard couldnt follow. pls remake another video !
i think i just wasted my time trying to make sth using my imagination and not actual information and guidance! what a surprise!
it would REALLY help if you zoomed out so we could see what exactly is being folded! and also if you talked us through it, instead of writing a sentence for every hundreadth fold you made! thanks!

Ow vc Humilha nos seus origamis !! muito fera meus parabens !!!

**i cant
+Ashlynn P. I agree!!! i was fine until minute 8:00. The camara isnt poiting at the right direction
¿Jo Nakashima qué papel usaste? Jo Nakashima what role did you use?
Hi. I'm quite lost when you start shaping the body of the elephant. The picture of the elephant looks gorgeous but I can't seem to make out what is going on after a while. Please help
Made one. It was awesome!
it's work with paper?
Nice scratching on minute 16:59
opening the sink...I CAN'T DO THIS !
İts the simplest tip in origami

it's very nice and I made it successfully
How many of you wants this to be done in the current Jo Nakashima style?
why are so many people confused about this vid 0_o, it can't be explained any better.
thanks for the vid but after a certain point, mainly around the head assembly the video was of no use, zoomed in far to close, couldn't see the technique used. Nice thumbs tho.
aw i was hoping at one point youd have to blow it up
I got lost at 9:21. Where do you fold? I got the tale and the diamond shape. Can you add on to that? Thanks! Great Vid!
nice work enjoyed it and did it came out well
one small suggestion pleas keep the camera a bit away as the subject is getting lost many a times

Random question, but do you have any tutorials on how to make a dragonfly?
I just finished mine. Thank you for sharing. :)
