In all honesty, I don’t know much about H1 racing. However, I do have a ‘layman’s question’ When the red boat got, (in my opinion), significantly out of shape in turn 1 of heat 4, it seams to me that the blue and white boat had no choice, but to go outside of the outer-limit marker. Why did the blue and white boat get DQ’ed? it seams to me he had no other options. I appreciate any education that anyone could provide. Respectfully, thank you.
Literally my same thought when it happened. Also a first timer seeing these in person and don't know a lot of what's going on. To me it seems like the blue boat was just following the wake/tail of the U-8 to stay in his lane but then all of a sudden realized the lane was outside the track since the U-8 hopped wide of his lane by like 50ft. Don't understand how that is a DQ for staying in your lane when the lane gets moved. Also really curious to know how many laps the unlimited boats can run on a tank of fuel. To me if it's +3 laps or so of a final heat race length then why not just park the boats on the dock till the track gets cleared and then restart the race first time around and everyone gets put back in their lane vs pulling the boats out an refueling just to get rained out. I don't know, maybe something to consider for the future.
Heat 4 BS calls of DSQ on a boat preventing a wreck is why some boats will never go back to Madison. Thunder on the Ohio will always sound like hairdryers. Punish the rookie and give the points away. Sad.
These people are literally putting their lives on the line to entertain us... and you take a whole lap from them for hitting a bouy? Wow that's really messed up guys for real...
I’m new to h1 racing as well but dam that was good racing. Really fun to watch.
I love Strong Racing!!!!!
There was a movie about the Miss Madison . Not sure how much was fiction but it was a good look inside thunderboat racing.
