    Do many ppl in DCM go to private equity - with the debt capacity analysis, acquisition finance + merger modelling etc, it seems very aligned to what DCM bankers do already?
    From what I read I see mostly those in an M&A group tend to focus on private equity / the exit opps

    • @angelasunx3
      @angelasunx3  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally not as many in DCM since the work involved less modeling compared to other groups like M&A, Lev Fin or industry groups

    Once you’re in the space how hard is it and how stressful is this type of work? I’m a 19yr old majoring in finance and I took some interest in the private equity space along with VC and I’m curious on the type of work you do, the hours, etc.

    • @angelasunx3
      @angelasunx3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hours and stress vary based on the job / firm. VC will generally have better hours while PE and IB generally have longer hours. Usually the higher the pay the longer the hours / stress at a junior level at least

    • @ekko5597
      @ekko5597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In terms of hours, 60-80 hours per week is typical, which is well above most financial fields but significantly less than Investment Banking.
      In terms of difficulty/stress, it depends mostly on the individual and partially on the team. PE is freeform, fast-paced, and requires highly motivated individuals with the intuition to derive their own path forwards. If you prefer structure, stability, direct orders, etc. then Private Equity isn't for you, but if you enjoy complex problem solving, relationship building, and highly independent work, then PE is perfect for you.

    Hi I was wondering graduating from a target school is essential or atleast extremely comman among private equity and if I didn't graduate from a target school what are my chances of going into such a position

    • @angelasunx3
      @angelasunx3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your role prior to PE probably matters more than what school you went to but I would say many people who go to PE went to a target school (more so than in IB even). Definitely not essential though, just more difficult without

    I joined a BB a few months back as an experienced analyst but have not seen any email communication from PE recruiters (only for other IB roles) that you mentioned in your video. Do these recruiters typically only target those who are right out of school or would it take more time for them to reach out?

    • @angelasunx3
      @angelasunx3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They often get email addresses from previous year analysts who will pass them on, and send those emails to both your work and school emails. They'll generally target analysts regardless of which year they're in.

    • @vssnav
      @vssnav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi again, I watched your other video on investment banking video and I commented on it there and you replied back. Are you working in investment banking or private equity? I know you recommend Financial Edge for learning about investment banking and private equity, but are these courses enough to get an entry-level job in either profession? You also have a link for financial courses from Wall Street Prep, which are less expensive than Financial Edge, can the Wall Street Prep Private Course get you an entry-level job in either profession as well?

    Belid 123, asked a good question and mine is very similar. I have a business degree in accounting from a non traditional school. How could I get into investment banking? Even if it was with an internship first. I just thought it was harder because they recruit younger individuals versus someone older

    • @angelasunx3
      @angelasunx3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're still in college, you won't need a finance or even a business degree. However, if you've already graduated and are trying to lateral in, you'll need a job relevant to finance to some degree (accounting major is fine)
