Not sure if I agree with this penalty, but how was the 'will of the people' being subverted? He was voted out by a super majority of the legislature, who represent the majority of the Tennessee populace, and his district will have the chance to vote him back into office, or choose someone who better represents their will, during their upcoming special election if they so desire.

I’ve worked as nonpartisan staff in three state legislatures (2 red states and 1 blue). This is absolutely despicable. I’ve seen members who were accused of sexual assault or were found to be sleeping with interns and they weren’t even removed!!! I left nonpartisan work due to the rise of misinformation and authoritarianism. It breaks my heart to see democracy withering and dying. Tennessee is reprehensible. The shooting took place in Nashville. I am from Tennessee, and I am appalled by this action. It is very concerning that elected officials can be removed and replaced at will. It is disrespectful and insulting to the voters. We should be proud of these 3 for actually listening to and supporting their constituents.. Tennessee supports guns, violence against women and children (in the form of rape and incest), and discrimination against people in the LBGTQ community.

So compelling, the arguments, the drama, I was riveted for the whole thing. I was sure at the end, after each of the three and their supporters spoke, that justice would prevail. The truth was too obvious in multiple ways. I was wrong. Instead it was like a slow, deliberate lynch mob. The hard core old school Republicans that want to maintain their stranglehold prevailed to the shame of the state of Tennessee and to the shame of our country. This could have been a stellar example of democracy in action, a pattern for the rest of the country to follow. Instead, the voices of about 200,000 people were silenced by those with power who were too entrenched, inflexible or threatened to do anything else. Lord, help our country. The pettiness and hatred of several stood out above the silent "foot soldiers" of their party. The bravery and selflessness of others who spoke showed that there are still heroes that listen to and speak for the people. PLEASE VOTE LIKE YOU (and your childrens') LIVES DEPEND ON IT.
