This was the first premium tank I ever bought. I had no idea about the tank other than I had been killed a lot by them. Lucky for me its become one of my favorite tanks! Great Games QB!!
i like this qb a little bit more.. he talks whatever is going on on his mind and doesn't take everything very seriously, and doesn't always try to sound up cheerful
i got this during patch 9.7, and use camo on my vehicle, along with gun rammer, gun laying drive, and coated optics and i really like it. it one shots tier 5 and most tier 6, and the sheer alpha is a great fear inducer. worth it for any fans of soviet TDs.
The SU-122-44 is very near OP if you ask me, it has the same dpm as the STB-1 which is known to have some of the best dpm in the game and the SU is three tiers lower, the SU's armour is only 90mm but with the ridiculous sloping it's so much better than most tier 7 heavy fronts and it's quite mobile along with the armour just makes it great at almost every role, I consistently get really good games with either playing as a sniper or a close range brawler, makes a hell of a lot of credits too.
Akina YTOGF Close but not quite, SU-122-44 100% with no equipment is 2925 with ap and gold, Tortoise is 3380 with ap and gold. A 455 dpm difference is a lot, yet there is also a two tier difference between the two TDs and both have different play-styles. Probably a bad comparison but still great TDs none-the-less.
The angling isn't the best to do as smarter enemy will track u first, with 122-44's narrow gun arc is better face hugging and hope Stalinium mantlet safe you

Too bad I don't have the replay of the game, I'm sure a lot of people would've wanted to see how it happened. This video helped me a lot in the early stages of learning to play the su-122-44, but after getting used to how it drives I've gotten more comfortable and way more aggressive in it. SU12244 is so op in terms of DPM, I have done 5k+ damage in it which is quite ridiculous in a tier 7 TD and the 62% WR without platoon makes it a quite lovely tank to drive around in random battles
I never found the lack of preferential match making much of a problem. Nor have I experienced any particular problems with accuracy. Granted, that last may be because I'm a fairly poor player anyway so I can't tell if I fail because the gun is inaccurate or because I suck. :D

It's outrageous to show a replay getting to that position at E1 on Prokorovkha in the SU-122-44 ...then firing and NOT getting spotted. Outrageous luck.
SU-122-44 is such an OP tank, I love playing it every time, but I have 5 skill crew from Obj. 268...sometimes when I meet players with bad crews, I can fire in the open at 300 meters and not get spotted somehow. The dpm is massive, and I don't even mind meeting tier 10 tanks, I just play it like a medium. I got the SU when I sold Super Pershing and it was the best thing I have ever done in my life :D
Well i just mastered this tank. I learnt that, in the city battles with tier 9 mm like ensk, you should be always watch the corridors from sides, to punish rushing meds or heavy tanks. If you can manage to get in edge positions to make yourself hard to shoot, but very close to their vintage, you can always use your dpm and make a good result even iif you lose battle. In tier 7-8 battles you just brawl and snipe if you find very good position.
Qb, i use rammer, vents and gld + bia, repair and camo crew( + 6th sense ofc) to maximize my dpm. My gun now reloads in just 6.6 seconds. I plan to do same crew and equipment setup on stb1 because it has the same rof and dpm with 122-44( but equipped with vert stabs instead of gld) to be as OP as possible
It seems to also be very versatile. I play mine completely different. No net, no binocs. Just rammer, vents, and gld. W/ BIA and rations. This tank is an absolute nightmare to fight at close quarters. If I'm top tier in it, I will quite often just charge head first into the enemy, fire off my 390 alpha round every 6.2 seconds and just out brawl everything. Even if you die in the first 4-5 minutes it's still a good 2k damage easy. It's definitely a fun tank to play. Couldn't recommend it enough for credits, crew training, or just having fun.
The su-152 turns way slower and has lower armour but does that matter when you can put out 390 average damage every 7,09 secs,instead of the su-122-44's 9,98 sec reload
I personaly play this tank as a brawler. You just come turn your tank and shoot directly. if I'm close range and just turned my tank it seems to hit all the time but the aim circle is superbig and has big chance to miss, and still I hit al my shots.
I own a SU-122-44 on WoT Xbox 360 edition. My opinion it is a great platform I love it, you could say it is abit OP its DPM is incredible but you do struggle to get through a lot of tanks with its 175mm of pen. That aside I would recommend this tier 7 premium TD. It is a favorite in my garage xD
20:00 To give you an answer, no. I don't think it should be preferential MM. The reason being that whenever I get tier V-VII matches in the SU-122-44, I know that I dominate the field, both as a heavy tank which can bounce mostly anything or tier V, as well as a *decently* accurate TD against tier VI-VII. All around, no, it should be just how it is!
As a side note, thank you GB for your modpack, and thank you for the wonderful videos I've been getting into lately. You really go in depth with the things I actually think about during a game. Not thing such as "can he shoot me and penetrate over this hill using the arch of his "big stupid heavy tank" gun. I think about camo, calculations, and exactly how the battle will turn out! Every tank bounces shells from two teirs lower. Not to mention when you get into a t8 match you have horrible pen, then when you hit a t9 match you can't pen any tanks from the front even with premium shells, not to mention you're a 2 shot for nearly every heavy and TD.
are you talking its pen is bad comparing it to all the rest of the tanks in its tier or just the tds at its tier? cuz if its the entirety of its tier, its not the worst for its tier, such as the first two packages (the dirt stock tank and the first package) for the t-43 has 126 mm (or somewhere in that range) which is terrible (atleast from experience). The pen isn't bad if you find a spot where you can find a bush that lets you take shots at peoples flanks, which then makes it easier for you to pen. thats why the tank is speedy so it can get into the bush and if you have a good camo crew you can get there unspotted.
The su-122-44 is a pretty good tank. After the long-range engagements i play this tank on short ranges an play with his armor. Unangled you will need up to 175 mm of penetration to penetrate this front and angled is this armor one of the thikest in tier 7. Sinceraly Konst57
Why is it that, whenever I'm in sniper view on any un-turreted tank I can not turn the hull in sniper view when I'm already on the edge of movement for the gun?
+Daniel Neumann That's just how the game works, i think it is to prevent accidental hull movement while in sniper mode causing you to reset your aiming circle.

What is the mod that show wn8 rating in the post game reports, is it another funcion of xvm? I use other modpack which has xvm but there is not such function and i want to see what is the wn8 of my battle. Which modpack does ot lie in? Can it be downloaded separately?
QB you only used the cammo net and binos for the first couple of mins of the game. the rest of the time u were moving. Are u sure they are worth leaving the vents at home. also the firing arc is poor on this tank so arnt you potentially moving alot to get the aim in the aim time ?
nathaniel perry they really arent problems though. You shouldent be spotting for yourself in the 122 44. And after the accuracy changes, aimtime is much more important than accuracy. and the 122 44 is actually pretty good at that.

In my humble oppinion. Easily one of the best premium vehicles in the game. Mobile, bouncy if the Matchmaker is generous and puts you in a tier 6-7 game. And the same gun as the IS but faster. Never had anny complaints with this vehicle.
Akina YTOGF The derp definitely seems the way to go. The only problem is the low DPM when facing Heavy Tans (200-300 damage for a 15 sec reload). Is the 122mm full of APCR a viable option?
217mm is still not good enough...I'm those unlucky ones that using stock ISUs often face t10 HTs more than t6s minions......so I would still recommend the 152 DPM of derp is actually similar if the HE penetrates....The point of using derp not just hope RNG makes you one shot others, is cripple them as well

P.S. Well the SU152 has the same gun and if I am not mistaking, the reload on it is even faster so the DPM is even better. But the agility is overwhelming.
Sure the SU-152 has a slightly faster reload, but is that really worth it when the SU-122-44 has better acceleration, top speed, hull traverse, armor, camo values, and makes more credits? I don't think so.
***** That's my point exactly. If you enjoy the gun and the DPM only, you can get them for free. I however prefer to play my 122-44 as close support of HT's or use the speed to exploit gaps. So I prefer the 122-44 :)
i personally think its the best premium tank, i just recently got my master badge for it i did 5,183 damage in a tier 7 game, for me the tank isnt OP, it has its moments but between not being able to bounce alot of hits like he is in the video and the how HP it has for tier 8/9/10 games you often times get 1 hit by a GW panther "well for me anyways" but over all its a great tier 7 tank.
Is it worth me leaving the Asia server and starting over on the EU server? I really do not like it there at all. And yes i am up to t10 on the asia server.
is a very good tank for makingCredits and it will put your brain at work because you can spot the enemies without firing, changing sides quicly, using HE shells for tanks that you are not sure of penetration or tier9Monsters :), fast reload, good cammo-is good to use cammo net and telescope; is one tank that you can play in so many ways :)
The thing with this TD is that you get this kind of MM very rarely.. it struggles with t8, and its in t9 matches like 60 percent of the time so you can't make much money then because of innacurate and low pen gun without prem ammo, and not a good camo also exposes you to t9guns that 2-hit you easily... I only get frustrated like hell in this, i choose e25 or su100y over it nobrainer

balraj singh The E-25 isn't that much more maneuverable. 44 degrees traverse vs 42. And they're both premium TDs, they both have amazing camo rating. Just because the E-25's is great, doesn't mean the 122-44's is bad.
E-25 has cheaper ammo but the pen of the gun is also weaker; same MM, similar price....Stick with 122-44 is better, but if you don't have russian TD crew then don't get it
I consider from non-gold spamming PoV, unless have prem account and every battle is a ace mastery level you can't make much credits with gold spamming... MM I admit Iwas worng(thought E-25 can meet t9 due to normally see R-25 with normal t7 platoon) And E-25 relative low ammo capacity limits it....135*60=8100 , 122-44 390*35=13650
That is the maximum render range to see tanks: if your friends spot an tank you couldnt spot because its outof your view range, you will still see that enemy tank as long as it is in the square on the minimap. The range of the square is around 500 meter or so, maybe 550. Correct me if i am wrong with that number.
How is the Panther well armoured the Panther has paper armor and it doesn't matter from which side ur shooting it from it might have a good gun but it's armour is horrible

agree, it can catch up to ELC in turn fight is really useful...The DPM is close to Tortoise with rammer+BIA, which is ridiculous

Isn't that a very exposed position for a TD on Prokhorovka? Did you drive there because the teams were so bad (red) and you expected no scouting?

In hindsight, a solid ram on that last arty would have sealed the deal. But who expects such a low role at point blank range?
I've gotten 5k damage games in it in tier 9 games. It can perform in any tier with that ROF.

i've got 4th skill on my su and all i can say is, it needs a pen buff, armor buff and pref mm

QuickyBaby, wich gun do you think is beter to grind for the BL-10 on the ISU: The KV-2s howitzer or the top gun on the SU-152/SU-122-44?
I go for the Derp, especially more paperthin tanks are in high tiers now(WTs, Japanese, French HT/side of TDs, many MTs, M103...e.t.c)

i personally think its the best premium tank, i just recently got my master badge for it i did 5,183 damage in a tier 7 game, for me the tank isnt OP, it has its moments but between not being able to bounce alot of hits like he is in the video and the how HP it has for tier 8/9/10 games you often times get 1 hit by a GW panther "well for me anyways" but over all its a great tier 7 tank.

is a very good tank for makingCredits and it will put your brain at work because you can spot the enemies without firing, changing sides quicly, using HE shells for tanks that you are not sure of penetration or tier9Monsters :), fast reload, good cammo-is good to use cammo net and telescope; is one tank that you can play in so many ways :)
The thing with this TD is that you get this kind of MM very rarely..
it struggles with t8, and its in t9 matches like 60 percent of the time so you can't make much money then because of innacurate and low pen gun without prem ammo,
and not a good camo also exposes you to t9guns that 2-hit you easily...
I only get frustrated like hell in this, i choose e25 or su100y over it nobrainer

Anyway, i already bought su-122-44, after e-25 was removed, my favorite tank, no matter the tier 9 battles. Its still kicking ass. 3k battles in it so far. Also thanks for the videos, keep up the good work! Liked ;)

RoF isn't, DPM is. The 122-44 actually has higher DPM than the E-25.
Well yeah but e25 has higher camo rating and more manuvereable too .

balraj singh The E-25 isn't that much more maneuverable. 44 degrees traverse vs 42. And they're both premium TDs, they both have amazing camo rating. Just because the E-25's is great, doesn't mean the 122-44's is bad.

E-25 has cheaper ammo but the pen of the gun is also weaker; same MM, similar price....Stick with 122-44 is better, but if you don't have russian TD crew then don't get it
I consider from non-gold spamming PoV, unless have prem account and every battle is a ace mastery level you can't make much credits with gold spamming...
MM I admit Iwas worng(thought E-25 can meet t9 due to normally see R-25 with normal t7 platoon)
And E-25 relative low ammo capacity limits it....135*60=8100 , 122-44 390*35=13650

What means this square on the minimap???
That is the maximum render range to see tanks: if your friends spot an tank you couldnt spot because its outof your view range, you will still see that enemy tank as long as it is in the square on the minimap. The range of the square is around 500 meter or so, maybe 550. Correct me if i am wrong with that number.
bram meerhof the large square is the renderdistance, i think you can adjust it in the settings (if not, it is 500m) while circle is the viewrange.

How is the Panther well armoured the Panther has paper armor and it doesn't matter from which side ur shooting it from it might have a good gun but it's armour is horrible

It depends on the map you are playing, but usually 100m. If the map you are playing is 700m x 700m, one square is 70m.
