Doesn't work because you need people who are fit and can endure the hard work. Such people do not have the motivation to do backbreaking work when prisoners in some states are forbidden from earning more than 40cents a day. Not even an illegal would work for that.
They need to reach the productivity levels of the illegals or the crops rot and there are losses. So it is better to not plant than to gamble due to the outlays.
Putting prisoners to work on private farms sounds like slavery.
What farmer s do is pay a piece rate so if picker works hard make s s good wage. The farmer know s how much it will cost per pound. Unmotivated worker has to be paid minimum wage. Cost goes up to more than farmer need s to make a profit. Good harvesters can make $ 20 an hour must be in good physical shape and high motivated people.

I was a white farm worker for dairies, I worked both union and nonunion dairies and they were as different as night and day. These farmers that hire immigrants without checking on their legal work status have poor farming practices or greedy and don't want to pay a fair wage. Both the union and nonunion dairies were paid the same amount for their milk but the union dairies paid more and health benefits with legal work force. Nonunion depends on illegal work force to pay less
They should come in the right way...not thru the fences..you as farmers should get them by going for them and registering who will be working on your farms!cheap labour!
Farmers should be responsible to hire legal immigrants. Pick them up from the border with their papers in hand. Take them to their farms and house them. Work them. Put them on a bus back to the border they go. Signing out of u.s. customs. Come back next year. How is that scenario a problem.

Work in a farm is very extenuant, and you dont get enough for the work, you wanna take it? Ok you gonna do it for 10 buck at hour? Of course not, you gonna ask at least 20 bucks for hour plus benefits, now you are discovering who inmigrants has been overexploted for decades, if you get this work, and get the payment who you are asking the prices gonna go up, because as always, the sellers, transporters, farmers and you american worker dont gonna lose they money, so the extra cost of this USA workers gonna be paid for consummers

Well if those people who want Welfare Benefits like Ebt, Cash Assistance,Med,Sec8 or any of that other free shit they will have to do community service at 40 hrs per a week in them farmer field's if they want those welfare benefits this is a good why for them to payback there debt to taxpayer & government. And then we have those people that are in our prison system they can be working in them farmer fields too and they can do the 40 hrs per a week of community service to and this is how they can payback the taxpayer & government for housing them in those prison

Brothers are not going to work on the farms. Only a small percentage have ever done that. Mexican and some other Spanish speakers are the ones that work in the fields and Ranches. What the farmers have to do is build temporary housing near the farms or on the farms for the workers. The Asians use to work on the rail roads In the US. Now they are buying Many corporations and companies Then sending the profits back to the far East. The Indians are buying the liquor stores and hotels and pay the Mexicans peanuts to work there. Choose to live like GOD says in the holy Bible, revenge is mine And forgive everyone everything! And you will live and learn the way our forefathers instructed US.
