In this video I share with you the tools, parts and process involved in retrofitting cruise control to your Mk2 Audi A3, Mk2 Audi TT and Mk1 Audi R8.
This guide should apply to nearly all vehicles in the UK with a multi-function steering wheel and trip computer but there will be some basic models it doesn't apply to as these may require a wire to be added to the engine ECU.
*THIS GUIDE DOESN'T APPLY TO MQB PLATFORM CARS i.e. MK3 A3 & TT + Mk3 R8*
Parts numbers are as follows (there maybe older versions that have been superceded by these);
A3 and S3 : stalk 8P0 953 513 F 9B9 trim : 8P0 953 512A 6PS
TT and R8 : stalk : 8P0 953 513 F 9B9 trim : 8J0 953 512A 6PS
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE VARIATIONS IN THE STALK DEPENDING ON AGE, IDEALLY YOU SHOULD BUY ONE WITH THE SAME NUMBER OF HEADLIGHT SYMBOLS ON IT OR THE MAIN BEAM MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY. IF YOU FIT A 2 SYMBOL CRUISE STALK TO A CAR THAT PREVIOUSLY HAD 3 LIKE I DID AND YOU DON'T HAVE AUTO MAIN BEAM, YOU CAN DISABLE MOMENTARY MAIN BEAM IN THE CENTRAL CONVENIENCE MODULE (09) TO HAVE MAIN BEAM WORKING CORRECTLY. THIS IS ALL BECAUSE THE OPTIONAL AUTO MAIN BEAM FUNCTION REQUIRES A STALK THAT RETURNS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION AFTER MAIN BEAM HAS BEEN ACTIVATED AND ALL CARS GET THIS (WITH OR WITHOUT AUTO MAIN BEAM). FIT THIS 3 SYMBOL STALK TO AN OLDER CAR AND MAIN BEAM WON'T STAY ON AND IF YOUR CCM IS TOO OLD, CODING WON'T HELP EITHER.

Great video mate.Question did you use the audi a3 cruise control stalk on your r8 as im seeing the tt one is way more expensive but looks the same? Woudl like to know if they are cross compatible?
Good work Andrew👏
Thanks so much Sean!
NIce! I had to have the ECU out of my TT to connect a wire from it to the stalk as the earlier cars aren;t pre-wired... BTW you could've Dremmeled the existing cowel to elongate the slot... I had mine fitted professionally so a new cowel was part of the deal
I also had to run the wire in my 07 Audi TT with the 2.0L TFSI (BWA) Engine. Overall it wasn't a terrible job.
Csn i ask the where and cost you had yours fitted? I have purchased the parts, and capable of the physical work but think fir coding and ecu wire i probs should let it be done for me😂😉
Another great money saving video :)
Glad you liked it!
Would the car be drivable between installing and programming or any issues caused? I picked up a 2014 R8 at the weekend - I still can’t believe it doesn’t have cruise!
Had this retro fitted to my 2011 TT, best thing I’ve done to it. Makes driving so much easier
Audi TT is better than R8,what do you think about that?
Just seen your mk5/mk6 C C demo from 5 years ago brilliant thank you :)
Ahh those were the days 🤓
Great video Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Ur a clever old stick lol always like chilling out and watching 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Lee, I watch it back and find it relaxing too weirdly 👍
where`s your LATEST video gone mate ?
Were you wearing ear defenders in case the airbag went off?
Ha ha no, I find it easier to work with the radio on
Hi, I have a MK2 Audi TT 2013. Is it possible to have the Hill Hold function programmed if your car doesnt have it? I have tried to google this with a few conflicting answers and no info on where this could be done... Andrew
You wouldn't be able to have it programmed. It has to be built-in from the factory.
Thanks Andrew
My pleasure 👍
Is the TT up for sale..?
She says no, can't find a suitable replacement, might be a late low mileage Mk2 again
Hi Andrew, brilliant video thank you
Can cruise control be fitted to my
Mk5 R32 2006 model if so where do I purchase the parts needed.
Thank you again best channel on TH-cam VDub:)
Glad you found the video JB. A Febi Bilstein or Meyle stalk will do the trick fine and won’t be much more than a used genuine one
Great job Can this be done to VW Scirocco 2017?
Similar process but the details are important but I think you can do it yes
I had cruise control retro fitted to my then newish 55 plate golf mk5, the local VW dealer were offering it as an upgrade for £125 or so. Basically change the stalk for one with a cruise control switch and programme it in. Took a couple of attempts to get it working properly but well worth it!
When was that! The part costs not much more less than that now! It make me feel better that the main dealer took a couple of attempts to get it working :)
@@volkswizard must have been 2006. Think it was the first one they’d done. They glued a plate in the drivers side door opening which said “this vehicle has and aftermarket speed control device fitted”
Yep the kit came with that sticker@@alansorbie4038
Remember when I had my Mk1TT V6. My dealer was offering retro fitting CC for £150. I think that was in 2006. It was standard fit on my Mk7 GTi PP and also on my current S3 and VW Beetle Cab. But I have never used it
Just £58 - wow - does it come with a free VCDS device and laptop?
Can do it on obd11 too, if you have a vag car you should have one or the other..
My automatic A3 2.0tfsi Quattros got cruise control from factory. Goes well with the comfy half Leather/Alcantara seats
That was unusually generous of Audi back then !
@@volkswizard do a video on it if you like. It’s the 3door s line model. 200bhp. Iv had it 7 months so far, I picked it over the GTi because of the Quattro
Such a shame it doesn’t cover the mk3 TT
The bad news is it's a bugger to fit on those
No excuse for it not to come standard on the Mk3.
Fitting cruise control was the first thing i did too my mk4 gti . Att that time car was 3-4 years old and it bothered me not having cruise control
Did you have to run the wire? Did that once on a TT, not in a rush to repeat 😬
Can this be done on a Mk2 fabia?
Pretty sure yes but no experience personally of Fabia cc
How come these premium cars don’t have cruise control wow a standard Japanese cars will have cruise control I’ve always wanted a golf GTI but with no price cap servicing and low warranty here in Australia I just can’t commit unfortunately maybe one day
Jap cars always had the toys but they are pretty soul less. Audi can get away with it because they are an emotional purchase. As for servicing, we have a good network of independent specialists in the UK, and EU law means you can use them and maintain warranty
