  • These cars were far apart in price when they were new, but now days they can be found for roughly the same price. They both bring a similar package (small, light weight, nimble) but with totally different vibes. Each one has unique strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately it’s up to you which one you would choose for your current situation.

I've had a tuned 335d which is way more reliable, economical, and badass than the 335i. Just picked up a abarth for 5k, and it easily surpasses the 335d in fun factor. Can't believe how much fun this thing is to drive!

I wouldn't exactly say that the 1 series is a fun car for cheap. I bought a 135i for $15k at 75k miles. I had to replace the rotors, calipers, and brake pads. Then I had to replace the charge pipe and the spark plugs at the same time. All of that cost money. Afterwards it ran great. But I wouldn't recommend a 135i unless you can handle the maintenance.

You're right that while the price to obtain the car is one thing, you may have more expenses to take care of. If someone wanted a 1 series and had less of a budget, I would definitely recommend the 128i instead.

I just love the colour on your 1 series!

I appreciate it man! Deep Sea Blue is the official color. I wanted Le Mans Blue but this one is pretty close!

Pretty close to that Deep Sea Blue on my 2021 KIA Forte GT with GT2 Package.

Id have the BMW as a daily driver as i own a Fiat 500 they are fun to drive but not reliable and very fragile compared to a German Saloon car ,If i only wanted a weekend fun car id take the Abarth as it would be more thrilling to drive than the 1 series

Also unless im mistaken the 168bhp UK version of the Abarth where i am does 0-60 in 6 seconds exactly the same time as the 1 series? so in the USA they must detune it slightly also if your using super unleaded gas instead of the usual cheap stuff the Abarth should make use of the full BHP the top speed though would be the BMW as the Abarth is more short gear ratios 134mph top speed where as the BMW is limited to 155mph

Our USA cars are definitely handicapped compared to the UK spec. We get the multiair while you get the T-Jet. I have never driven a T-Jet so I cannot speak on it. I personally have never been able to get my Abarth above 121 MPH and that was going down a hill. It simply ran out of power because it still had plenty of revs left. I would love to drive a Euro spec Abarth though because I imagine I would like it a lot more.

@@JasonJoyrides That's weird as even the non turbo 1.4 with 100bhp does 120mph here in England ? And the Abarth here does like near 140mph if downhill

Both cool cars. You’re absolutely right about the bmw handling. I purchased Ohlins road and tracks for mine along with Whiteline bushings, subframes and diff, Turner adjustable control arms, swaybar upgrades, and Ground Control hybrid street plates. That should fix the ok handling 😅

Sounds similar to what I have planned. The BMW can handle but it doesn’t feel as tossable as the Fiat for sure. I really want to drive a 1er that has been set up correctly though to see how much potential it has
