Congratulations Jack and Nicole! Planting our food is a good thing. Beautiful garden, beautiful flowers. Fruit trees will be the joy of tomorrow. Nature is beautiful and teaches us to be better humans, more humble, with more love than prejudices.
Watching older videos is very knowledgeable... Specially when one day in the future I want to get my own home and grow my food forest. I’m growing right now making mistakes but those mistakes will make me a better gardener in the future.

Pick axes and mattocks are held on via a wide caliper handle. They are not wedged like axes. Thus if you swing a pick like an axes the head comes lose. A simple nut and bolt can be used to prevent slippage, but ideally you never swing this tool above your head. Its designed for short chopping motions. Let the tool do the work, not your back. A sharpshooter spade if kept sharp makes quick work of SW clay too. No bending required. Garden spade works in a pinch too.
you guys are awesome. got to admit, she does have a nice berm. you've got it figured out Jake - a beautiful, vegan, green woman doing the work while you watch!!! Really enjoyed the chemistry you guys have. Thanks for the video and info.
Yes 100 acres of them and grasses and ponds ..I now see the animals coming back wild turkey deer feral hogs and wild rabbit ! Neighbours say it's been 25 years cents those animals were seen in the area ! I paid 40,000 for 100 aces of cleared cattle land and now have a forest ! 😎🤗😘
The soil looks very nice adding castings is amazing indeed, also to add rabbit fert, and bat guano, adding to your grow at certain times is very necessary.
By the way Jake the idea of water being a magnifying glass is actually a wise tale I used to think the same thing but I learned that that was wrong it actually can help the plant cool off when it's very sunny.
Whoaw that's quite some work, but I can see why. Were I live (the Netherlands) our soil is much softer (no need for a pick). I just dig a hole with the shuffle and put the trees in it. That was 2.5 years ago and they are now several feeth higher :)
Thank you for the instructions. I bet you will use these steps now that you are going to build your orchard in Canada. Would love to see a "refresh" instruction video once you start planting your trees up north. For now greetings from Amsterdam
Good job guys! I admire gardeners in Arizona all the extra effort you need to put in. Here in San Diego 100% native soil is all you need and the trees do amazing.
Nice to see you Jake. I have grown the mango seed inside the plastic bag. I can see the roots too. Can you tell how to transplant that to the pot or to the ground. Thanks from Australia
Where would you get the worm cast soil from your local store. I only know of the big box stores. What kind of store do I look for. Thank you for your help
So in the old garden where you had 3 feet of mulch you would still put the root ball at the level of the old ground and cover it with the 3 feet of mulch?
Hey guys! I planted a peach tree last week and hard pruned it. It isn’t looking so well, it seems sad and the soil under and around the tree seems like it’s holding moisture. We are in Louisiana so drainage is a problem here, we have hard clay. When I planted I added native soil with compost/pine bark soil conditioner/top soil. I believe I added a little sand too. Should I dig it up and amend? If so what should I add? Or should I dig it up and pot it for a while?
If I may, you only need to make the mistake of digging in saddles once to really regret it. As much as it sucks, closed toed shoes is really worth the potential cut off toe. But good vid.
Who told you the hole should be twice the depth of the pot? 2 -3 times the diameter is good but the crown of the tee should be just above the normal ground level and sitting on solid soil, not filled in, or the tree will sink too deep and the crown will rnd up below surface level. Roots go out. If planting a grass, deeper ould be okay because most of their roots grow down.
Jenna Snow you can add pond water to increase microbial life and put lots of mulch around it I have lots of trees and I have never used any fertilizers just Marengo water pond water and mulch is your best answer
Jenna Snow plant comfrey next to it, and use the leaves to mulch. It’s a dynamic accumulator with a deep tap root, and it’s leaves break down quickly fertilizing the tree.
Here is more info on the part about the roots closing at night, thanks for tip Jake nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1469-8137.2011.04039.x
When Nicole made the hole wider i was surprised she did not use an iron-spear like this one ( 5 feet long and weighs around 15½ pound ) that is fantastic when making holes in a really hard soil. www.jula.se/catalog/tradgard/tradgardsredskap/markarbete/spett/spett-708744/#tab02
Nicole you should find something more comfortable to garden in. It was annoying to watch you keep pulling your shorts legs down while you dug. Aside from this I loved the video.
He is tired of women taking advantage of him and at the end telling him to leave when he builds the garden for them now he wants to work less and talk more kk
I love it! I love planting trees!

I think Nicole might have learned about proper gardening attire too 😂😂😂 as someone who's dug a hole in clay with sandals I gotta say: Never again.
Nicole needs proper working attire
Thank you for sharing. Nice to see you two so happy and content together. Very Classy woman. Hard to find these days. Hang on to her.

Nice job

Wait is this the front yard?? This yard looks bigger did you guys moved I’m sorry I haven’t really been updated been really busy.
Jake you're good with Plants but you're not too bright when it comes to women. Talking to her and treating her like she's an employee
Chris Oneil S She’ll soon become tired of that treatment. I give them three yrs. max.
Alisia Lopez I think Nichole really loves Jake as he really loves Nichole
Put a nail so the metal does not move. Dangerous when pick moves.

It's a good idea to have shoes on while using a pick hammer
Um pé de goiaba!
Thanks!!!!!
jake, where do you buy your paracord shoes?
Bradley Mathis Keen UNEEK
nice
Where is the local sore for the fresh "ingredients" for the soil mix? Can you use this same mixture for container gardening?
Can anyone tell me the link or video were he did the water catchment underground for his fruit trees in AZ?
If I may, you only need to make the mistake of digging in saddles once to really regret it. As much as it sucks, closed toed shoes is really worth the potential cut off toe. But good vid.
Oregon guava? How is it surviving the winter?
Does a tree grown with worm castings count as vegan? Asking because of the shirt.
Biscuit will look at that as a fire hydrant.
What can you do to help improve trees that have been in the ground for years already???
Jenna Snow you can add pond water to increase microbial life and put lots of mulch around it I have lots of trees and I have never used any fertilizers just Marengo water pond water and mulch is your best answer
gardencraver Calvin field thank you for the awesome advice
Jenna Snow plant comfrey next to it, and use the leaves to mulch. It’s a dynamic accumulator with a deep tap root, and it’s leaves break down quickly fertilizing the tree.
GeeEeeDee thank you
I am sorry I am new here and I am so confused are y'all living off grid. Or traveling the world. Please fill me in
I missed it if you had tested the pH of the soil? I know that most fruit bearing plants need specific pH levels to produce well?
Chuck
I love you Nicole 😘
VeganAthlete hahahahah.....

Dude I love watching you but Please and Thank you go a very long way...especially if your planing on a long life together.
I mean the upper roots that hang off of the rootstock.

xan very Jam planting.....
2 Tips:
1. Digging in sandals is dangerous, you can inadvertently cut your toes off.
2. FFS, it's too hot, let Nicole wear a bikini!
Totally inappropriate
Just keep singing Red Hot Chilli Peppers. As you grow them.😉
Get free worm castings got my own worm farm
I would like to try some. phone # ?
Swinging a pick-axe with open shoes. Nice.
Jake it's not the same seeing you in a different garden
You two are cute together. I’m old, I say things like cute - it’s a compliment ;)
