my guy you have done it again! as my grandparents would spend every winter in peru and had done so for decades i grew up with stories of the inca as a kid. The house was filled with ceramics, figures, pottery and textiles (some inca, some chimu, some chancay, nazca and more), along with bows and other objects from the amazon. you make history come alive through your videos and though we sadly will never have had the possibility to experience this amazing culture because of the Spanish, this video really makes me understand why my grandparents fell in love with the history and culture of the area. Can't wait for the next part!!
Wonderful! I'm glad you liked it. There are so many magnificent civilizations in Andean history, and I wanted to give an impression of that. That's very cool your grandparents had artifacts. It's awesome scrolling through these comments and seeing other people's interest in Inca history get sparked by this video. ~Chris
You can partially experience this in rural areas of Perú, especially near the ancient capital of the Empire, Cuzco. Well, regarding the Spanish, unfortunately due to Europe's naval advances, they had to arrive at some point. Fortunately, it can be said that way, the Spanish arrived and not the French, Dutch or British, because most likely there would not have been a trace of this civilization left. Contrary to what is believed in culturally Protestant countries, the Spanish were less destructive than they believe, Protestant propaganda was very harsh against Spain, for being the most powerful Catholic kingdom in its time. They even believe that the Spanish inquisition was more abusive than the Protestant inquisitions or those of northern/central Europe, which is completely false and ridiculous, but it shows a lot the power of propaganda. Greetings from Perú.
Absolute perfection. GREAT call on making a longer video. I really really like it when you take the time to describe the lives and culture of a civilization. Adds more stakes and meaning to the battles. I didn't know anything about the history of South America before watching this, and now i know quite a bit. Great job keeping the narrative focused on the core elements enough so it's very easy to follow, but with such rich detail in them at the same time. Great usage of territory maps at the perfect times for full clarity. Plus of course, only this channel has this amazing style of immersive art. This really made me feel like I was in the mysterious alien world of old South America. Not just because of the landscapes or different way of life, but because even the Incas didn't know how to handle the mysterious parts of the continent, such as the deep Amazon or the surprisingly tough Mapuche people near the Maule River. Makes the continent feel like an onion where there's always more around the corner.
I LOVE this! These longer form videos and videos on the ancient and lost world of the Americas. There is so much information I can absorb it all at once. I cant tell you how excited I am
The Inca's strategic brilliance and adaptability were amazing. I had no idea they used psychological warfare and managed such a vast empire without writing! Truly impressive
Incredible work! I can't stress enough how good of a job this video makes in portraying the Inca as a civilization in their own right to the likes of the Romans or Chinese and not just a footnote in History. Keep up the good work!
If you look at a topographical map of South America and where the Inca Empire was based in, it was very impressive that they got so large and powerful, yet maintained it quite well. It took an unforeseen threat from the different side of the world to lay them low: Disease from the Old World.
The Inca Empire, which thrived in the 15th and early 16th centuries, was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. What’s fascinating is that they built a vast network of roads, known as the Inca Road System, stretching over 25,000 miles. This impressive infrastructure connected their empire, from the high Andes to the coast. Despite never developing a system of writing, they used quipus, knotted cords, to keep records. Imagine a history documentary showcasing these roads, with stunning views of the Andes, as you discover how the Incas managed communication and control across such a massive and rugged terrain!
I love your capacity to tell the history in the form of a rather compelling narrative; that takes effort and talent. The fresh art is also quite emotive and brings the context to life. Love y'all's work!

As a Peruvian, I would request that for part 2 and Spanish conquest, you take into consideration all the angles, not only the “official one” that frames Spanish as almighty and barbaric killers. The conquest was mainly thanks to the tribes the Spanish allied with, and in the case of the Incas, Huascar family cheered when Spanish executed Atahualpa. Moreover, Incas survived the whole 300 years of Spanish dominion, they were consider nobility and they had riches and power in Cuzco. It was Simon Bolivar (controverted character) who eliminated the nobility titles that Inca had, and he let the white criollos to seize indigenous lands. You will find there are many interesting facts of the Spanish dominion time that reveals a simbiosis of the Andean people and the Spanish that settled in my country, giving birth to mixed peoples and culture.
This is not true, Spanish burned down all the storages of food and make the inhabitants slaves. The frequent name of locations called "Tambo Quemad" means specifically that.

my guy you have done it again! as my grandparents would spend every winter in peru and had done so for decades i grew up with stories of the inca as a kid.
Man this is absolutely amazing! Seriously Netflix should be all over these guys
Thanks! We're here whenever Netflix is ready lol
Oh boy, the kids in AP world history are going to love this one!
As a peruvian living in Cuzco I thank you for this, good sir.
Thank you! Hope to be visiting in 2026!
~Chris
Yoooo this is sick, I’m from Peru, Arequipa and honestly this is one of the best history videos of the Incas!!!
Incredible work! I can't stress enough how good of a job this video makes in portraying the Inca as a civilization in their own right to the likes of the Romans or Chinese and not just a footnote in History. Keep up the good work!
Your ability to weave a compelling tale of history while keeping it informative and visually stunning is truly commendable
This deserves so much more attention
Thanks! The comments and shares help quite a bit!
~Chris
If you look at a topographical map of South America and where the Inca Empire was based in, it was very impressive that they got so large and powerful, yet maintained it quite well. It took an unforeseen threat from the different side of the world to lay them low: Disease from the Old World.
As a Peruvian I have been waiting for this video!
Hope you enjoyed it :)
~Chris
@@HistoryDose Watched it many times and sent it to my family. Thank you for your in depth dive into Inca History
This has to be one of their best yet !

Every History Dose upload is like a mini-Christmas just for me.
This channel as well as others like Epic History Tv has convinced me to buy TH-cam premium instead of Netflix or HBO. This is the kind of stuff I want to watch.
Great work guys !
Thanks so much!
Thank you for these wonderful images, and the research behind your compelling presentations. I watch them, I and re-watch them.
Thank you!
This is definitely one of the best works so far, more indigenous episodes please!!!
I loved this video so much. I actually had the privilege of visiting Cusco as a 17 year old on a Spanish trip. I understood some of the magnificence of what I was seeing at Machu Picchu, but nothing like I would now. Thank you for this video. It's another absolute masterpiece.
Thanks so much! I saw Inca ruins when I traveled in northwest Argentina years ago, and I also didn't fully appreciate them when I saw them. Planning on visiting Peru in 2026!
~Chris
We need this channel to blow up. Seriously. Every video is a masterpiece! I am honored and grateful for the privilege of watching these in all its narrative and visual glory.
Thanks so much! The comments and especially shares go a long way!
~Chris
That encounter with Incas left such a deep impact on Mapuches, that every other foreigner since then, starting with Spanish colonists and ending with a Dutch backpacker today, would be called "winka", or "new Inca", even non-native Chileans will get that label, because you never know what they might be up to, right?
30 min video is awesome, much love! Havent seen yet it but i already know its gonna be a banger
Thank you so much for covering andean history in such great way! I was born in Peru and still think that andean and prehispanic cultures are very underrepresented in film, documentaries and so on.
One of the most fascinating things about history is how interconnected the events are across different cultures and time periods.
This video means a lot to me. Thank you for putting so much effort into this.
Traditional TV networks cannot hope to compete with such work. Brilliant, as always.
Dude, your channel is a work of art! Never stop making videos like this. As an ancient history buff, it would be awesome if you made some videos about older civilizations like ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, or ancient Greece. Periods like the Bronze Age told in your video format would be so good!
The life of Nezahualcóyotl would make an epic episode. An orphaned prince, whose quest to avenge his father and reclaim his birthright created the aztec empire. And a ruler who was also an accomplished poet, scholar, and architect.
This is a side of history I never knew much about and its absolutely fascinating. The history of the Inca is so rich and beautiful!
A truly extraordinary view into the Incas. Joe’s artwork is always special but this video had such emotion in the art that it really told a tale beyond mere history. Chris’s detailed research weaves it all together into a gripping tale that is both informative and at times shocking. Thank you for the massive time and effort that goes into each moment
Thank you, you're very kind. This was hundreds of hours of work, because we really wanted to transport people into the incredible world of the Incas.

Love all your work but this is up there with the best, I've just learned a lot!

Thanks so much. I started the channel with my brother because I wanted an excuse to do deep dives on historical topics--just pure love of human history. It's awesome being able to spark others' curiosity in a subject!

this might be your best one yet, which is saying ALOT
Thank you so much! I could feel this one was special. Some topics are just so good I'm dying to share them. Was anxious to release this one.

Thank you guys for inspiring me and getting me back not only into art which I haven’t done in a while, but back into history/reading as well. I still can’t believe a channel as informative and professional as yours goes under appreciated. But slow growth is better than no growth.
The Inca acted alot the the Persians. With their large polyglot armies and fair treatment of the conquered.
Interesting!
Fair treatment? Nah man, just like the Persians they made them slaves. So obviously Alexander/ Pizzaro had support from subjected local populations when they fought their rulers.
@nuclearwinter391 the other pops did the same thing, them just were convinced cause they was promised the same level of control as the incas
@@Youngchiefstunna2003 and they've got that. Under the Spaniards. For better or for worse, nobody knows. Because the wars in between them were horrific too. History is written by the winners. In this phase some are trying to re-write it- but still.. they write in English or Spanish.
@ That’s coming from an outsider, my ppl still past down oral stories of our history, just because it isn’t written doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, those people and their descendants still exist
Better than any history channel specials I can recall
Cool video! Can't wait for a part 2 (preferably ASAP)

Excellent work here Sir 👌
A phenomenal work with beautiful art, and professional narration. This is high quality work, its strive for truth, fidelity and respect to part of my people's history is greatly appreciated. My thanks to you and your team.
You just made my week with this video. You and your brother keep up the good work, seriously. ❤❤❤
Absolutely awesome
