I'll share an experience my wife and I once had, in case this helps make anybody else see things in a way that keeps them safe. Or, just in case someone out there finds it interesting. This happened well over a decade ago, in southern Arizona.
We were driving together and had to stop for gas. She was going to pump the gas while I went in to get us something from the store. I hadn't taken two full steps away from the vehicle when a woman very quickly approached my wife. She wasn't quite threatening to look at, standing still, but her movements were off. Too hurried. I turned straight back around and stood by while this woman told my wife she had the same vehicle we did. She said she was having trouble getting her back seats to fold down, and was hoping my wife could climb into the back of her vehicle and help her.
I know how dangerous this already sounds to anybody who has a mind for this sort of thing. I'm going to emphasize, here, that this woman did not look like she could present much of a threat, herself. I can see how somebody would believe they were just doing a favor for her. My wife and I were not that trusting then, and we certainly aren't, now. She replied, without missing a beat, that this wasn't her vehicle, and she really doesn't know anything about how the seats work. Then apologized and wished her luck.
Whatever may have happened that day, we didn't have to find out. Weeks later, though, we did learn about people being murdered, by a woman, who was using this same tactic to lure people into her vehicle. Don't know if it was the same person, but it didn't make us feel any worse about sending the one we encountered on her way.
Be polite, but assume the worst of people, and act accordingly. You can survive disappointing someone.

This exact scenario happened to me when I was homeless in Buffalo, New York in 1987.
I was living in an emergency shelter because I had been deported from Canada when I was kicked out of my home by my mother and I was staying with my fiance in London, Ontario.
He went home to Burlington, Ontario after school let out at the University of Western Ontario and his mother decided that if my own mother didn't want me, why should she have to take care of me?
He was Filipino, the only child and the only son so, if anyone knows what that dynamic is like, you know exactly how that played out.
I was a white girl, homeless and with no real prospects.
I went to an emergency shelter in Hamilton, Ontario and a week later Immigration Canada caught up to me and deported me for being a burden on the Canadian government.
I was working at a Burger King in Buffalo, New York, trying to earn enough money to get on my feet as I was only 18 years old and had just left my home on a little island off the coast of Maine.
Some psycho that had been stalking me for a week or more punched my tires out with an ice pic so, I had to walk to my work, which was a mile away from the shelter.
While enroute, a woman stopped me, an obvious hooker, and started to talk to me.
The nah-nah-nahs were prickling on the back of my neck.
I looked over my right shoulder to see one man trying to grab me at my five o'clock position and another closing in on my two o'clock position.
Purely out of instinct, I rushed right into traffic in the middle of a four-lane major road, two lanes on each side and miraculously, not one car hit me.
The man's left hand at my two o'clock position just grazed my right shoulder as I ran out into the street.
A year or so later, while watching the original Equalizer with Edward Woodward, I saw an episode called the Lockbox where homeless women and runaways were being grabbed off the street, locked into rooms the size of a box, tied to beds and were beaten, raped and pumped full of drugs until they became prostitutes.
This was, of course, long before I became a military police soldier.
The good Lord was certainly looking out for me that day.
There but for the grace of God go I.
Remember, it's not just criminals, prostitutes and destitute people these things happen to but your normal daughters, mothers, nieces, even grandmothers that get grabbed.

This was an amazing story Jason but yes...distraction is a key criminal tactic. I've seen scenarios where a pair of thieves act as one will come up and ask you a question and while you look at them the other takes your phone/purse/wallet off the table. I always make it a habit of making sure if anyone comes up and asks me a question while I'm eating etc... to keep a hand on my belongings. Stay safe

I grew up in southern Arizona. Some of the gangs down there had a tactic that relied on exactly what you're saying. Usually, the whole thing began with getting the victim drunk, but that wasn't always an option if the person wasn't on good terms with them. Either way, the injury that would get all the attention would be a head injury. Something that causes bleeding was ideal, since it would ensure any responders know this person, inebriated or not, suffered some head trauma. But while that person was knocked out, they would also drive something like a piece of rebar well up into their rectum, causing serious internal damage. Then they'd dress 'em back up like normal, and leave them to be discovered. The head injury would get the attention while they bled out internally.
I don't have an explanation of why going to all of this trouble was worthwhile...

It's a wise idea in general to be aware of your surroundings always. One time I was shopping in a grocery store and I had recently bought an expensive truck that was new. I was aware that this could make me a target, as criminals may assume that I was wealthy and follow me to my home or possibly track me. Shortly after entering the grocery store a woman came up to me and began a conversation first about how I "looked familiar" but before I could even respond she asked me about my necklace. There was nothing special about it, it was an eye, specifically the eye of Horus, it was cheap, I bought it off Amazon for like $10. I tried to be nice and keep talking to her, but something felt very weird and off. I wasn't indicating that I wanted the conversation, but she kept walking alongside me to keep me talking. Then she asked what school I went to. We'll just say I wouldn't have gone to the same school as her, this was impossible. As she was doing this, I was looking around and keeping watch. After my third attempt to end the conversation and resume shopping, I just abandoned my cart and walked back to my truck. I was alone, and I realize now that I should have asked for an escort to my vehicle. There were 3 suspicious gentlemen watching me walk outside that were talking with each other, but once I made eye contact with them, they scattered. I left that store and nothing happened.

A lil late to the party though having worked federal undercover(for those familiar, Group I UCO Operative), the only issue with "befriending" the local barber, waitress, etc., is that they were all on the local "narcotraficante peluca grande's" payroll, and in the rare chance that they were not, with the fear of the local cartel deeply imbedded within them, they would say absolutely nothing, and any attempt to "befriend" them or even start a conversation with them sent up MASSIVE red flags🚩, and a phone call would have been made prior to one even leaving the barber shop, restaurant, etc.

I'm not sure about that. Back in Queens I knew a police officer of Russian descent who used to do undercover work inside the Russian Mob. How about recruiting someone whom the intended target would never suspect? Like say the CIA wanted to get my brother and they recruited me or one of his children? Or instead of terrorizing his brother Michael into signing a lot of false confessions, they would have played it smart and let him " escape " somehow- of course with the visible signs of physical abuse on his body. Anything is possible if you're hiring people for their brains, ruthlessness and skills and not to fulfill the race quota. But that ship has sailed so it is what it is. And thanks to the losers by the name of Nuland and Kolomojsky, I would never work with the CIA or the FBI- like ever. Great job, ladies and gentlemen, go back to studying Das Kapital or Main Kampf or your proper personal pronouns. If Steve Rogers were real, he would be spinning in his grave, so " Heil Hydra! ".

  • @alancranford3398

Thanks for explaining how kidnap operations happen. Criminal and law enforcement kidnap operations are pretty much the same--determine who the kidnap victim will be, why the kidnap will happen, plan out the kidnap for maximum success, have a means to move the victim where the purpose of the kidnap can be carried out. There are multiple fail points in the plan and a good plan will have nested contingencies including aborting the operation and having the kidnap team escape the area immediately.
I have no known enemies at present. Doesn't mean that I'm not on anybody's enemies list--just I'm ignorant of having enemies. There's always the mistaken identity factor--Jason Hanson described how the CIA will take additional steps for positive identification to include surveilling the target and establishing the victim's behavior patterns. Not everybody is that careful. I've encountered multiple ringers--people who closely resembled other individuals that were living hundreds or thousands of miles away from them, never met, no relationship, but someone who could be mistaken for "a person of interest." Saddam Hussain reportedly had several doubles--as did Winston Churchill and Field Marshall Montgomery. Then there are just coincidences. I hope I don't look like one of the terrorists on the top ten most wanted list. My brother was in law enforcement, and he bragged that in his profession "the customer is always wrong." If I'm ever a kidnap target, it won't matter if I were mistaken for someone important or if I'm the real target--I'll be that customer who is always wrong. However, this video had a lot of lessons to unpack.
Lessons that General Heinrich Kreipe and Adolf Eichmann could have benefitted from. General Kreipe was in charge of German forces occupying Crete during World War Two and British SOE agents captured him. Kreipe was a punctual creature of habit. These habits were used to plan an ambush and effect the capture. Adolf Eichmann violated the basic principle of leaving his entire life behind when he fled prosecution for war crimes. True, Eichmann had extremely motivated professionals on his trail when he was finally captured in 1960, but Eichmann had his family with him and there were other things that gave him away. If you've reason to drop off the face of Planet Earth, never forget that someone will be looking for you your entire life. When that someone has the limitless resources of a nation-state and all the time in the world, any connection to your old life compromises your new life. I wonder if a sex change would have thrown off the Mossad. Christine Jorgensen didn't abandon her old life, but would the Mossad have been looking for a woman? Studying these two cases shows where kidnap countermeasures failed. Kreipe was armed and had an armed bodyguard/chauffeur with him when kidnapped. Eichmann was armed and wary--but was lured into a trap. As I said, I don't know that I'm on anybody's list, but that's not enough to avoid being kidnapped.
Modern skilled surveillance can be impossible to detect. Jason Hanson might be on someone's list, but he has taken measures to mitigate the risks and has allies looking out for him. The first countermeasure to being kidnapped is acknowledging "it can happen to me." The second kidnap countermeasure is staying off someone's enemies list. Third--be vigilant. Those three countermeasures will go far to keep you from becoming a victim. Or put it another way--when the strange man offers you candy to get into his white van, RUN AWAY.
