Tony Geary and Genie Francis are wonderful in these intense scenes but any longtime GH fan can tell you that Luke and Laura actually discussed the rape many times right after it occurred. It was only after Luke and Laura became an incredibly popular pairing (after the first summer on the run) that the discussions were completely dropped and the official version became a seduction. In fact, the encounter was deemed a seduction only once on screen. Basically the issue was ignored for 20 years until General Hospital revisited this dark bit of Luke and Laura's history.

These are just powerful scenes with powerful acting and powerful writing. They both should have gotten Emmy's that year. This is one of the best if not THE best Luke and Laura scene ever. So much emotion and care in these scenes.

What I don’t a understand is why Soap Opera Writers keep Romanticizing Rape? Which is a Felony and has been not taking seriously the past hundred yrs They did the same thing. On Days with Ej&Sami it Sickens Me!!! And Women have Suffered. And to have Laura Blame herself wTH Laura always was very troubled and Sensitive Girl Luke took Advantage of her both Physically&Mentally💯

IMHO Laura always had difficulty with understanding safe vs unsafe situations in her life. She had a dysfunctional childhood,then married way too early at 17 yrs,which emotionally she was even younger than 17 based on her actions. Luke was never the right choice for her. Luke was not safe because of the following
1. Mob involved// schemes for money mostly.but could run a bar
2. Self centered.... end justified the means as long as he got what he wanted...helped Laura break up her marriage to Scotty..even posed as Scotty's friend to get better access to Laura= minimal ethical standard or moral base
3. No interest in a stable life and routine which is good for raising kids
4. Was not able to protect Laura from the consequences of his dangerous lifestyle
5. Vengeful, sneaky and unforgiving.... See how he treated Laura about Nikolas/ dealings with the Cassidines
All of these traits spell out UNSAFE SITUATION....EVEN BEFORE WE FACTOR IN THE RAPE
Laura didn't seem to consider these things and how they could affect her in the present and future. Which it did affect her negatively now and later so to speak
The bottom line is if you cannot adequately assess and address your safety needs, you are going to be at risk for being in highly dangerous situations that may have been avoided totally or in part
I am not trying to backhanded blame Laura for the rape. I am trying to show that unsafe situations are dangerous and her rape only serves to prove that point even further.
Leahschoice1. I agree. The writers wrote her as a victim. She was sexually abused by Stavros. Very dysfunctional.

Well last I checked this is a "Pro L&L" site. So just a thought.......You can go watch something else. As for your "Lecture" save it dear, I didn't bother reading 75% of it. I was there from the beginning, and saw differently then you along with millions of other ppl.
Terrible optics. Genie Francis said Laura is someone who desperately wants to do the right thing and do what is expected of her. She felt she had to forgive Luke. Ultimately suppressing a lot of which was a pattern. But for Luke to turn that forgiveness into her fault. So manipulative.

Are we all forgetting the scene whe she said they made love and it wasnt rape...I stayed with GH for a long time but got really confused about this... she said they "made love" and she lied to everyone about it being rape.. this is where I fractured
Michelle Donnellon it was rape from the beginning that's what sent her running through the park to the spot where Liz would be raped ( stay outta that park) then they had kick arse chemistry the writers didn't expect so they tried to re write it as seduction because who wants a supercouple based on a rapey beginning no one believed or liked the rewrite including the actors, the 90's was a v safe sex era for gh which lead to it being readdressed as what it was rape.

Part of the allure of Luke and Laura was the attraction factor. Within months, this cooled, where Gina Francis met her future and present husband and the magic, the spell, was ended.
So glad there not a couple anymore!!! She’s with Kevin Collins and he’s off with Tracy Quartermaine. Tracy is probably the only woman that could hold her own with Luke

@@kleptoclouds6117 Clearly she kept watching LOL. Lord the show is so bad now it needs to bow out. I tried to watch it a few times but its boring as hell. ALSO L&L should have walked off into the sunset together, the writers really screwed up!
