Do you agree or disagree? I would love to know your thoughts 💕
Hi Rene 👋🏻☺️I came to your channel years ago when you decided to let it go grey and you inspired me to let my natural color show too.I was hoping to see my grey's fully emerge but unfortunately I barely had any"At 47yrs" but still had some and I was proud to have them .I truly can't imagine you without your grey's now cause they look so beautiful and so you.💕👑 My aunt who is in the early 70's still colors her hair blonde, when I asked her why she doesn't let her grey's grow in she says the blonde makes her more youthful..lol 😅 I told her I don't know how she does it for so long ,coloring her hair every few weeks ...that must be so tiring .When my grey's start coming out more I'm just going to embrace them and do my best to let them shine"Hopefully" .😎✨ ✍🏻Oh and on the long hair vs short ; It all depends on how well they take care of it I think.I have seen not so healthy looking grey hair " long and short" it's dried out, frizzy and yellowed with split ends too.I think with grey hair it needs more tlc right ?
Actually it’s a sign of wisdom
Well, if that first gray hair crosses the line into old age status, and deems me ready to eat supper at 3:30pm, then I was officially a part of the elderly crowd at age 32 when my beautician found the very first gray strand. She pulled it out per my request---I later taped it to an index card, noting the discovery date. Fast forward 29 years, I now have a head mostly filled with somewhat kinky hairs in shades of white, gray and silver. It'll be OK until I decide to color it again. In the meantime I wear stylish hats which have gotten me numerous sincere compliments, each one unsolicited.
I agree. Let mine go gray so much easier than coloring. Wish I had your beautiful curls 🤗
I work with a lady at work and I'm guessing she is early 50's and when she did her natural gray she did look a lot old from her case but most women I see with there natural look amazing especially when they have a nice hairstyle
I just have to say as a grey hair sister, I needed to hear this today. There are times when I feel like maybe I should go back, maybe I do look old. But then I ask my husband and he says, " I like your hair now, don't change it". I am so glad you did this video, you have once again talked me off the ledge and encouraged me again that this is the real me and I should embrace it. Thank you, I am so glad you are here on you tube, I just love you and your family and all your videos. Have a wonderful week.
I will say, do as your heart tells you to. There is no right or wrong answer to how someone should have their hair, just be happy😁
Renee I love this video!! Encouraging women to embrace their natural beauty, and not to hide behind fake coloring is honorable. When the world is telling us it’s not good to be older, to be gray, and you should fight it with all you’ve got, your attitude is contrary to the worlds. I love it because such an attitude embraces who we each are as individuals, and helps us appreciate our uniqueness. Each of us has been made with individual talents and gifts. Appreciating our unique self is the best mental health strategy I’ve ever heard. You are beautiful just as you are Renee. Thank you for pointing out that we can each admire our special gifts, and not striving to be like all the other girls. Thank you Renee. You are an amazing gift. Love ya!!!
Awww you are so sweet!! I am a true believer of being yourself...and try to live it every day 💕
I LOVE YOUR HAIR !!!
I support everything you say. I went grey some years ago and have never looked back. It's not a particularly pretty grey but my hair is so much healthier than when I dyed it, it looks shinier and nicer. I also stopped worrying whether people would judge me by my age!
I agree. I used to say I did’t feel like myself if I didn’t dye my hair red. Then my circumstances changed and I couldn’t afford to color as often. Then the salon had to close for 6 months. When she reopened I decided to embrace my natural color. She had taken the 6 months to learn new things and she did an amazing job of coloring my old hair to blend into my new hair. It has now grown out and I love it. So far all the grey I was afraid of turned out to be beautiful highlights around my face. I get so many compliments. Now I think the old red color was just a costume I wore because I feel more like myself than ever. And you are right, my hair has never been healthier than it is now.
I, like my father, started going grey when I was in my mid-twenties. I couldn't abide thinking I could be totally grey by the time I hit 30, so I started coloring it. I tried to get as close to my natural color as possible (I was a redhead), but could never really achieve that natural color (nor could I ever really achieve a color that looked "natural"). I kept coloring my hair until my accident (I fell down our stairs and was severely injured). I couldn't really color it then (in the hospital) and my skin really aged due to a lot of the medication I was on. So I decided to never go back to coloring my hair and I now love my grey hair. I did do the "big chop" method (had my color cut out--it only took two months to get rid of all the color), but that isn't for everyone. I'm glad I did it that way, but not sure I'd do it that way again! At the time, I was wearing my hair short anyway, so it wasn't like I went from long to short, I went from short to very short! I don't think my hair ages me (and I get a lot of compliments on my hair), but (unfortunately) my skin does. The grey goes better with my "older" skin now and as I've gotten older (I'll by 67 in October!!), I've become more accepting of myself as I am (petite, grey hair, wrinkly skin, scars, and all). And while I care less about what others think of me, I still do like to cover my scars. People do "look" when they aren't covered--and I don't think that these people are meaning to be rude. It's just human nature to look at something unusual, that you don't see every day. But around my friends and family (and my doctors), I don't care about showing the scars because they don't notice them any more.
I love the “line in the sand” theory. And it’s CORRECT!
You were stunning with your colored hair and stunning with your natural gray. Love you!!!
I think you made the right decision! It's not having grey hair that makes one appear old. People think of you as younger because you seem to have such a positive outlook on life, are full of energy & have a good sense of humor! Life hasn't beaten you down & made you sour! I'm pretty sure that's why so many of us enjoy & look forward to your videos!!
Good video, Renee. You’re a rockstar. Your hair is beautiful and I love hearing about how good it makes you feel.
I have the opposite story though. To me, colouring my hair is not about being afraid to show our natural hair colour. I have reddish brown hair and, since I was young, in my head I always saw myself with dark brown hair. When I started colouring my hair I finally felt like myself and looked like the self I always pictured.
I went back to my natural hair colour during the first two years at the height of the pandemic (hair salons were closed in Canada for a long time) and hated every minute of it. Reverted back to dark brown as soon as that was possible. To me, embracing your true self does not always mean just accepting the genetic cards we’ve been dealt but rather pursuing what we feel is our BEST self.
Hi! I do hear a lot of women with a red tone in their natural hair say that grey is difficult. And i can certainly understand that.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls As long as we’re happy, we’re good. You’re not happy with your dyed hair and big kudos to you for having the courage to do you!
And thanks for creating this supporting, inclusive community for everyone.
If that's your choice and you feel better about yourself, go for it! I just don't want women to think they "have" to color their hair and that it's just 'part' of getting older. But if you like yourself with a different hair color, you go girl!
@@janhankins911 Yes, totally my point as well. We should never feel shamed for either choice. Both are valid and what’s right for one person does not have to be valid for anyone else.
In my original post, did not mean to criticize what Renee was saying. Really sorry if it came out that way. Just wanted to share my own experience at the opposite end of the spectrum of the hair colour experience.
Renee, I found your channel when you were transitioning to grey. I had been thinking about it for some time, but had been on the fence. Well I'm here to tell you that your encouragement lead me to do the same! I've been grey for what will be two years at the end of October. Best choice I could've made!
Yay!!!!! I'm so glad to hear that!!!
Right on sister!!!
I went grey, too (well before I discovered Renee's channel) and it was the right choice for me. I don't miss the color, I don't miss the process, and I don't miss paying through the nose for it!
Renee you hit the nail on the head. I went through the exact same thing at the age of 62, thinking why do I look harsh all of the sudden? So I decided to let my hair go gray and truly you were instrumental in helping me make that decision cuz I've been with you for years. After I was fully gray, 2 years later,I was at the dentist and he said to me, "I don't say this to too many women your age but you're still really pretty." Voila! I'm 65 now and never look back.
Yay Michelle!!!!! ❤️
I tried without colouring my hair I felt it made me look older but yours is beautiful Renee you don't look 50 at all you have amazing eyes I suppose it's state of mind
Super great video! I'm much older than you, but I totally get it and agree with you 100%. Another key is a GOOD HAIRDRESSER who can freshen up your look by giving you an updated, young looking cut. I recently changed hairdressers. I told the new one, don't look at my face or try to figure out my age. Just treat my hair like any other "young" client, and give me the sassiest haircut ever. I feel like that made a difference for me. Once I got a good cut, I got a lot of compliments. Because just before I switched my hairdresser, I was contemplating coloring again. But luckily I didn't. And yes, your hubby was spot on too.
I found letting my natural hair color grow out to be liberating! And the cash back in your pocket ... lots! It's amazing how much money can be spent trying to defy nature. I agree with you. I hit 70 this year and I've found it's your attitude about life that ages you not your hair color. People I meet are frequently surprised about my actual age and comment I look to be more in my 50s. P.S. I also need to thank my mom for the great genes when it comes to aging.
Renee, keep rockin' and enjoying your wonderful hair :) I "went grey" about 6 years ago and I LOVE it. I use Hair Biology Silver & Glowing shampoo which is amazing and very affordable. Just use it like any other shampoo. I also use their serum that makes my hair look shiny and healthy. I can't believe I put those awful chemicals on my hair and into my body through my scalp for so long -- even though I knew it didn't look all that great! If that's confusing to some people, I'm still really happy :)
I love your videos and your hair ! I went natural a couple of years ago. I was in my mid to late 60’s. To my surprise my hair grew out totally white. I found that white hair, at least for me, wasn’t so easy to take care of. Yellowing was one problem and stubborn coarse hairs were another. In my case because I’m older it did make me look much older. I have a pale complexion and don’t like wearing a lot of make up so I always looked washed out . I’ve started coloring my hair medium blonde and what a big difference! I feel like myself again. I guess what I’m trying to say is that gray is not for everyone. It looks great on some people but not on others. I wish I did like it because I saved a lot of money. Oh well
What matter's is you are GORGEOUS ! From one silver sister to another, big hug's and Merry Christmas from New York 🤗
awww thank you so much!!!! 💗
Agree totally, the root touch ups, the time to color and the drying out of my hair was getting to crazy. We all gray naturally, it is beautiful now. The worst was growing out the colored junk and appreciate the natural look. I'm not totally gray yet, only my natural brown/ blonde and the gray. I get compliments, people actually thought I was coloring my hair but it is all natural.
I stopped coloring my hair and now I'm asked where I get my hair colored. When I say it's natural, women are aghast--they say other women would pay a lot of money to get their hair like mine. I don't have to pay anything for it!
Your hair is SO BEAUTIFUL ❤️!I'm going gray and I hope my hair will be as gorgeous 🥰😍 as yours !!! Very pretty don't change a THING !!!!
Thank you so much!!
Good morning Renee! Some people lack confidence which I believe what is holding them back from being their authentic self. I am 43 years old, this month is my two year anniversary of no chemicals on my hair. I don’t have a lot of silver sparkles but I love what I do have! U are a fabulous!
This is so timely!! I have been contemplating going "natural" for a couple of years now, and I have been asking my husband of 32 years all kinds of questions. WELL, he made the statement YOU realized yourself, about my hair not matching my skin, at the age I am now, turned 60 in Sept of last year. Makes perfect sense!! I haven't decided WHICH avenue I'm taking to go natural, but I do NOT plan to color my roots as I have for the last 20yrs....I also have naturally curly hair by the way!! Excited & apprehensive!!!!!! Going to watch more of your grey hair journey videos!! Thank you!!
Renee, I have been following you since you began your grey hair journey…. I have listened to so many people explain exactly what you and Randy said!…This is by far, the BEST video and advice I have ever heard on the subject…. Your hair in my opinion just keeps getting more and more beautiful as time goes on.. YOU were the most influential person in my decision to go Grey… you encouraged me in the comments, until one day you said, just do it!..I just turned 66 and I honestly never looked better!…it has been 29 months so far and my hair is still changing as you said!…you are quite an influencer, Renee, about SO many things!..thank you for this profound video!..you gave me so many answers to so many of my questions to myself!..the line in the sand is the KEY for me!…thank you so very much for being you, sharing everything you do, sometimes I don’t think you realize just how much you and your family and your channel change lives!…please thank Randy as well for his opinions and analogy on this subject!…love you Renee!..you look and are, spectacular!!!!💜💜💜💜💜💜
Awww Linda! 💗💗 we have been together for a long time!! I love knowing that you have embraced your natural hair color. Makes me 😃
Silver hair is a Crown for the aged. It shows you have wisdom. You are beautiful and wonderful. Hurting people say hurting things and foolish people say foolish things. Keep being you yourself only one of a kind a masterpiece!💗😄😊😊😊💗
Your hair is beautiful! I stopped coloring my hair and to my surprise it was snow white and I love it ! Everyone tells me they like it and just the other day I had a comment on it being pretty. I need to get a new picture of my snow white hair instead of the one you see now.
Oh wow! Your hair sounds beautiful!
Aging is not a fight you can win!!! Embracing it, allows us to age gracefully. It’s a beautiful thing.
About three years ago I just got fed up with the whole vicious circle of trying to get rid of the gray. My dye jobs only lasted a few weeks before the gray roots were back and the fading color gave my hair an orangey tinge, and these were expensive salon jobs. I am saving a ton of money and time I spend doing more worthwhile things than smelling chemicals in a salon chair. I find longer hair like yours that is gray/silver is a really pretty look.
I started getting gray hair when I was 13 - and 2 years ago I decided to stop fighting nature and embrace the grays - at 27. Gray hair isn’t dictated by age. My grandmother was completely white by 16. I feel so much happier now that I don’t dye my hair to adhere to a beauty standard of youth, and feel freedom that I can play with my hair for fun instead. I even added some chunks of gray in to complement my hair since it’s naturally about 50/50 salt and pepper right now. The biggest win for my experience was just feeling the freedom to play and express myself instead of continuing to try to hold on to my old dark hair by covering my roots every 4 weeks.
I know exactly what you mean! You look beautiful! I’m thinking to let my hair to be gray! Thank you! ❤️
You can do it....and we're all here to help when it gets rough :)
Hi Renee! I’m 56 and I’ve been highlighting my hair for years. My natural color is a light brown. I have a lot of blonde highlights. What you said is true. I’ve just been afraid it would make me look older to go natural. Idk how much gray I would have. Your hair looks great on you and you don’t look older at all. I love the curl in your hair as well. Thank you for this video. Women that are afraid to go natural need to watch this. Love your videos Renee. Have a great day!
It’s a lot of $$$$ if you go to a salon.
Love to go grey can’t wait I’m going to embrace the natural grey
Loved❤❤❤
Preach it! I stopped coloring my gray hair in 2019 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! Plus I get compliments all the time that my gray hair is gorgeous!
Hi there 😄 you've a gorgeous picture on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
Your absolutely beautiful! Love your accent! 🥰❤️
Loved your video! You look fantastic with your natural silvers! I finally stopped coloring mine in 2016 when I was 62. I wanted to do it years before and wished I did. I looked in the mirror one day and said “Who am I trying to kid” and finally embraced my gray. It turned out mostly white and I wear my hair the same as yours but with bangs. It is so empowering going gray! It’s funny that I never got compliments on my dark brown hair but now I get them all the time as you must, too. Anyway, yours looks so beautiful and I found your you tube channel because of your gray hair. I love all your videos! There are so many silver sisters these days rocking their grays!😍
Yay!!! I said the same thing to myself..."who am I trying to kid"....then I decided to be myself 💗
You are absolutely right. I just recently grew mine out. I am 71years old. I have very few wrinkles in my face. I dyed my hair starting at age 50and always said I wouldn't have gray hair as long as Paul Mitchell made hair color, then last year I saw a picture of Jamie Lee Curtis in a magazine. I looked at her and said she absolutely rocks that short white hair. My mom had beautiful white hair. A couple of years ago I was very ill and I have a side effect of where I can't stand long enough to style shoulder length hair so I had it cut short. Real short. I thought to myself I bet I can rock that white hair like Jamie. Talked it over with my hairdresser and by gosh I did it! I don't regret it and get compliments on it.
What a beautiful thing to say Randy!!❤. He’s tight. If you take care of yourself just like he said, skin, makeup, clothing, behavior says EVERYTHING
I have been watching you for about a year. I too have curly hair. It was about a year ago I stopped coloring my hair and absolutely love it. I refer to my gray hair as wisdom highlights. Thanks for encouraging woman to be their true selves.
Renee, you look great with your gray hair. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters!!
I love your gray hair, your curls and your attitude Renee. I am older, but I have never colored my hair, what ever color it changes too is what I live with. I think your awesome !
I am 64 years old and I love this video. I am going to let my grey grow out now. Your hair is so beautiful.
One of my sisters in law started going grey in her twenties and never thought to dye it. Her complexion is similar to yours and I think that combination is stunning! I‘m ten years older than you, but both my parents went grey very late in life, but I‘m so looking forward to going grey.
I think you look younger with gray hair! You have a fun, youthful personality and I think the gray is sassy, especially with the curls.
I absolutely love your hair! Curls, volume, colour, length and all!!!
Thank you so much!!
The other day watching a video ( When you took your B to school) and you had your beautiful hair back in a headband...and thought that's beautiful AND IT TRULY WAS Renee!!! As it always is 💛
Rock it Hot Momma 🤩 lol
Have a great week and give those sweet boys some lovin...
Renee, I landed on your channel during the beginning of the pandemic looking for encouragement on making the decision to go grey. You were so instrumental and had such a positive attitude about going grey that I decided to do the same. My hair grew out to a beautiful silver that is much healthier and often gets complemented. I still wear it in an edgy bob cut and have fun with the latest fashions. Thank you for making this video and reminding all of us that grey hair doesn't make you look old.
Good morning Precious! I think your gray hair makes you even more beautiful and certainly, you do not look old! Have a great day!🐶🐈🐾❤️
I love it! Grateful to have found your videos!! I'm 36, have been trying to hide my grey for the past 3 years and am so done. I've been feeling like it was me hiding from my truth and I'm ready to stand beautifully in it and let it all grow out. Your videos are so inspiring, and your curls AND your grey are beautiful!!! Just like your energy
Thank you for this encouragement. I'm 49yrs old and have not colored my hair at all. The gray hair have sprung in so quickly. I made my decision not to color my hair . Thanks to you and Beth have confirmed to me to embrace my natural gray hair.
If my hair looked like yours I would absolutely go grey! I tried on a grey wig and everyone agreed it wasn't for me. You on th eother hand look amazing! You look younger than your actual age but no matter what age you are, your look awesome!
Hi there 😄 you've a gorgeous picture on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
I love the variation in your natural hair colour Renee. It’a fabulous 🌟💕
Oh thank you!
I think the silver and white brightens up your face. And Randy is right. You take care of yourself and are full of energy which keeps you youthful and vibrant.
I agree. I'm growing my grey out now & I've had people say "don't do it, You'll look so much older than you are"! Men will not be as attracted to you"! And to be honest, I initially felt the same way & I realized it's because of society's dysfunctional ideals around youth & beauty. The right people could care less about my hair color & it doesn't matter anyway, I'm the only one who should care about my hair color.
I've been going grey since I was 30, I'm 45 & can't wait to finally rock what nature has given me! I have youthful skin as well, so this hair situation will absolutely throw people off and now I find it comical. I'm just grateful I have beautiful hair that grows and I'm excited to see the end result of this grow out!
you go girl - i am now grey thanks to you - thanks from a black canadian happier woman.
Awww yay!!!!!!
I have grey curly hair and I also get compliments from strangers when I'm out and about. I haven't ever dyed my hair, I have probably saved my self a lot of time and money! I recommend it
Love, love, love this video! I have been Grey for 5 years now and I love it. I used to get three colors on my hair....I loved it at the time but I just got tired of it. So, I'm like you I have imbraced my grey! You are so beautiful Grey curls and all, I hope more women take your advice and go natural. Way to go! 😃
Thank you so much!!
I too have gray curly kinky hair ...since age 18...I'm now 65. I never "fit in" I colored my hair for the volume results....until 2021! I realized I was then coping with alopecia. Still am but I am using natural hair follicle booster growth products on my now naturally white hair. I cannot go back to coloring due to fragile white hair. I'm still in process of imbracibg my curly white hair that is fly awayc...thin...and fragile. You are blessed with a lot of beautiful curly hair and hair volume! God bless our hair journey!
I have very long straight hair. I had color it blonde for a very long time till about 14 years ago I stopped coloring my hair. It looks great just very long sun kissed/white straight hair. and I'm 63. I agree. Let it go and you'll find your self feeling great ! Thanks for the video.
I totally agree with you on the gray hair. When I let my hair go gray, it took on a natural light that lit my skin up. I have curly gray hair and absolutely love it! I’ve had more compliments on it than ever in my life.
Also, if my hair would look like that comment is an often occurrence in my life.
Let’s just let our little light shine! 😃
I’m 65 almost 66 and still color my hair. I get it colored every 4 weeks. My hair is fine and a little above my shoulders. By the time it’s time to color it I have about an inch of white/grey hair. I can’t decide what to do. I can’t imagine how much I’ve spent in the years since 29 yrs of age. Your hair is beautiful
Thank you Renee for the encouragement. I’m struggling with this myself right now.
You are so welcome 💕
I think the gray makes you look very classy, Renee! I am 50 and just got some grays coming in. I'm late to the party. LOL My dad went gray later in life as well. My mom got gray very early but she is 76 and still dyes it a light blonde. She only colors it 3 to 4 times a year because that's all it needs.
Wow, I’m in awe of you. You make so much sense and I’m scared but listening to you has finally helped me make up my mind to stop colouring my hair too. I’ve been wanting to since watching your channel and also because I too go every 3 weeks and my hair has become course & brittle. Not to mention the cost to keeping it coloured. Anyway I’m giving up my hair colouring addiction and will make today Day 1 of my self improvement journey. I will even keep a journal. Wow I feel so good already. Thank you thank you Renee, I’m sending you an electronic hug 🤗
Hi! What a gorgeous picture you've on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi 😃. I hope my compliment is appreciated 🌹☺️
Thank for this encouragement message to us women. As an Asian with black hair, I used to dye my hair to brownish to make my face look brighter. After I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago, I stopped putting chemicals to my body. Now, I am 58 and my hair is still black with some grey coming out. I did like you did - trimming off some of the grey hair. Your video gave me encouragement to be myself. I will try. Thanks a lot.
Hi Renee, I just wanted to say you look fabulous! I love your curly, grey hair. Its obvious you take good care of your skin too.
I stopped colouring my hair in my fifties, as I was tired of my dyed hair looking great for a few weeks, then the grey roots would be visible! I've embraced my grey hair and don't care what anyone else thinks! The people that matter to me, love me regardless of my hair colour. My slightly wavy hair became curly in my late fifties as well.
YES! This is the content for which I originally started following you! I too have curly hair that I colored for 20 years. I’m fully grown out now and get a ton of compliments. I will NEVER go back to coloring! Thanks for the positive boost 😊
You are so welcome!!!
I love your channel and your hair I'm 50 and inbracing my gray hair. You give the strength to be me the way God planned for me to look like love n e .
Well said!! I went through the same thing!! I’m 68 now but I don’t regret going gray at an early age! I got lots of negative comments! I get same comments!!
I stopped coloring my hair 6 years ago. I colored it for 30 years. I am now 60 and my hair is completely white. Most days I am okay with it. I do get compliments on it and sometimes you do get the comment why did you let your hair go. 😮 I really enjoy your channel.
Renee, I love your grey hair. It looks healthy, shiny, and soft. You have a youthful face which makes you even more beautiful with your grey hair. Thank you for your encouraging words on going grey
Hey I’m 38 and just noticed some grey hairs coming through this year. I’m really not thrilled about the idea of colouring mine because of toxic chemicals and having to touch up the roots all the time and potentially damaging my hair even more. I wasn’t sure how I’d embrace my grey hair but this video really makes me feel better about not wanting to die it and just let my hair do its thing. I do really like the silver strands in my hair it looks like glitter.
People who say you shouldn't hide behind fake color...? We wear lip and eye color get cosmetic surgery, sooo... I enjoy my true color which is brunette and thank you Monsieur L'Oreal.
So when Randy looks at you he looks at you with love admiration and proud that you take care of yourself and that you look good and you’re healthy what a beautiful thing for a man to do for a woman
I am 57 with grey fine hair. My husband told me I look beautiful and he does not want me to wear makeup either because I’m beautiful. My insecurity comes from a couple of older women at church they color their hair. That I would look better if I colored my hair and wear makeup. I told them my husband says I look beautiful just the way I am. Sometimes I look at the mirror I think of those ladies and feel ugly. Over and over my husband my husband tells me how beautiful I am even though I don’t ask.
I just want to thank you for your video it was very beneficial to me. By the way you are a very kind person. Keep up the good work!!😊
@@charmingintrovert3240 hi thank you for letting me know that I’m not alone in this. Have a blessed day!!!
Honey let me say you are a beauty, and your husband is right, my sister in law was gray at 17 ,18 years old and she was pretty. You stay like you are, you are beautiful, and your skin looks great, I am 76 and been gray for years and I have never colored it. Love love it gal.
During Covid with the salons being shut down I started letting my grey grow out. I was on the fence about it, but decided that it was the perfect time. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair and I've never been complimented about my hair. Sometimes I still think about coloring it, but it doesn't take long for me to remember the endless cost and skin reactions that I have from the coloring chemicals. My hair is so much better and the grey hair has texture that the pre grey didn't have. Thank for the encouragement in being letting our true selves shine.
Hi there 😄 you've a gorgeous picture on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
@@jacksonpeterson7080 Thank you so much!
@@tereasamarshall3038 You're welcome. Where are you from?
Renee, you are blessed with so much which includes (but not limited to) a youthful body, mind and spirit. Hair is always negotiable and you took ownership of that, which is awesome and commendable! I shaved my head out of being done with the lies of the dyes and NEVER regretted it! (wish I could post a pic here). Thanks for being brave and bold and a pleasure! - Laura
I was attracted to your channel just days ago, when you were talking about your health and how you had tried intermittent fasting (something that was super helpful for me as a diabetic), but also I couldnt miss your beautiful curly gray hair! I love it (wish I could I do something with my straight, thin, fine hair) but most of all you have a very vivacious, energetic and inspiring spirit that flows out of your heart ❤.
So needed this. I'm almost a year end in growing my gray hair and was strongly thinking of dying it. Thanks for changing my mind to hang in there.
Renee, nice your hair is that color of grey. I'm older than you are and some of my outspoken grandchildren have told me to color my hair. Wish my grey was your color of grey. Happy person, great skincare, stylish properly fitting clothing, active lifestyle and your youthful upscale hairstyle all make you appear younger. Happy and frequent smiling makes you appear younger too! Great Video☀️
Thank you so much for your comments on this topic, I have had so many people criticized me because at once I was starting to let my hair go gray and they were telling me that I was looking so old and I should not let my hair go gray.
Renee, As long as I have watched you in your transformation and said, NOPE! I won't go grey yet, I am 60 and my hair is to the middle of my back, layered and I have always cut and colored my hair with brown, blonde highlights and have for the last several yrs. allowed the grey in but not completely. I THINK you may have just pushed me over that line into enjoying my long layered big hair by letting it be natural. Here I gooooooo! Thanks!
Did you go thru with it? How do you like it?
Thank you for this great video, love your attitude! My husband was not, and still isn’t supportive of me going grey, he would prefer I get it coloured, but I knew it had to be done. Like you, I wasn’t happy with the way I looked with my coloured hair, I constantly felt washed out and not myself. I finally bit the bullet in June 2020 when my roots needed doing after just two weeks, and I haven’t looked back since. Fortunately for me, everyone I know has been very supportive and complimentary about my now healthy silver hair. I had the best compliment from my 7 year old granddaughter the other day when we were talking about why my hair was grey, I told her when we get older our hair goes grey, but she said I look young. I’m loving the freedom and cost of visiting the hair salon, and looking forward to my hair looking better and better, and the natural colour suiting my complexion as I no longer feel washed out 😘
I am 56 and stopped coloring my curly hair 3 years ago. It is a mix of some silver and more brown (definitely not as striking as yours) but I do feel at home in it and it is so much healthier than when I was dying it. I have decided to think of the silver streaks as tinsel and am looking forward to more of it!
I love my grey, curly hair! And I love yours too. I let mine go about 4 years ago, and I have been so much happier. I always felt self conscious with roots.
Also, hairstyle makes a huge difference. Keep styling your grey hair, ladies! Also, we don’t spell it gray. Gray can be an old lady color. Grey is poppin!
Renee, I totally agree with everything you said! I was 62 when I decided to stop coloring my hair and go my natural color gray in January 2020 I am now 65. I absolutely love my white/gray hair! I started watching your TH-cam channel in the beginning of my journey and You have been such encouragement in my Journey to Going gray! Thank you❤️
Hi there 😄 you've a gorgeous picture on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
You look very fresh and beautiful with your grey hair. It brings out your eyes and bright personality. Very encouraging , starting the transitioning to embracing gray here ❤.
I am a 59-year-old African American woman this decision has been on my mind probably a couple months now and I haven't colored it so you can imagine what it looks like I think I'm going to go for the big chop opposed to letting it grow out but this message is what I needed to hear thank you I miss seeing the two boys in this video🐾❤🐾❤🐶❤🐶
You go girl!!!
I did the big chop thing when I stopped coloring my hair. It has advantages--it only took me two months to get rid of all the color in my hair. But it also has disadvantages--my hair was really, really, really short for about 3 months! I was wearing my hair relatively short before doing the big chop, so it wasn't as drastic as if I'd had longer hair before getting it done. Looking back, I'm glad I did it that way--it took a relatively short period of time to be "natural". But I'm not sure I'd do it that way again. Renee managed to look good throughout her transition, so I wonder if I'd have just let it grow out naturally if that would have looked a little better (on the other hand, my hair was ultra-short for only about 3 months--not a long time in the grand scheme of things). I guess there is no "right" or "wrong" way to do this and it's ultimately up to each person which method they choose.
I did the big chop when I went natural and it was really really short but it was a cute look I must say but it's just hair it will grow back
I think you're right. Here's the thing with me -- my husband is 11 years my senior and he colors his hair...like, every 30 days I see box color in the garbage where he's touched up his color. I stopped coloring my hair last year and have embraced my gray. I wish he'd embrace his hair color -- but I don't say anything negative to him or try to shame him into letting the color go because I have experienced negative comments about me embracing my gray --- and it's not a good feeling, especially in the 1st few months of me, not coloring...but, I'm so much more confident in how I look -- it just takes time. Maybe one day he'll embrace his. Your hair is beautiful!
Renee you are the reason I let my Grey grow out and I am loving it. I get lots of compliments on how pretty it is. I thank you so much for giving me the courage to do it.
I so agree. I see photos of women with grey hair and those that look older have more to do with their face. Those with a healthier face/skin don't look older with grey hair. Those with a less healthier face/skin look older no matter their hair color.
Renee. I am A full time stylist that has spent most of my career specializing in curly hair. your hair looks fantastic! What I've found is the hair that looks best natural (unpigmented) is usually thick and therefore docent make the person look bald on top. just a bit of a pro tip. Luv R
Thank You ! Colored my hair for 20 years, Stayed white haired for 15 years, went blonde in 2021 & Now in 2022 a year later, no more color miss my color 😢 and most importantly , my hair that is white don't like color ,on it no more!. So Thank You!. You look fabulous and very fit . Bottom line you look great!
Kudos for you! You look gorgeous and fashionable!!! Btw I'm a fashion and image consultant and lately, I've been bleaching most of my hair (highlights) to look more greysh and just love it! It screams classy!
Renee, you are one of the women who walked me through my going gray process. My hair has grown in; I love the way it turned out; I get compliments all the time. My husband grew a beard and it's white! I'm in good shape, work out, etc. David recently posted a photo of us on FB taken three years ago and I had my dark hair. It was flat, thinner and I probably powdered the root line. It was life changing and perhaps folks are not so shocked to learn I'm in my 60s. No one used to believe my age when it was dyed. But I am soooo much happier and comfortable with the way I look.
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that 💗
You are a phenomenal woman! ❤️👏🏽 im
Transitioning now age 57 my hubby is happy cause hes already fully grey at 63. Im confident and thankful to your videos. Love it embrace it grey sisters 🎉
Thank you so much!
You look gorgeous my hair didn’t start getting silver until mid 60’s
Girl, You are Beautiful! Your hair is Beautiful! I’m 62. I have dark hair that doesn’t need color. I wish that my hair was as beautiful as yours. But God gave me Straight , thin hair. I will be grateful that I still have hair 😍
OH MY GOSH!! I do the same thing. I had naturally auburn hair and got to coloring every 4 weeks and got sick of the cycle and time and money. But now after 2 years and I’m 50 I have ladies say they love my hair. I think just like you and sometimes ask are you talking about the curls or the color. Recently I get so many comments from younger women not just the older ladies like use to happen when I tried to maintain the auburn which is a hard feat. Dang!! I can’t get past hearing you say so much of what I have also experienced. I love the feel of my crazy curly hair. It wasn’t easy but it’s been a great decision. Dear lady I wish we could talk!!!
Thank you for the inspiration! I am starting now, I hurt my back and had to skip an appt..which looking back, I am so glad happened, because I saw 14 weeks of grey ! I realised my true self was popping out , why was I covering it up! If a women's hair is crown of glory, then we should be proud of our beautuful silver crowns!
Yay! You are so welcome!
Thanks for the encouragement!!! I don't color my hair but I do have curly hair. I can't say I haven't thought about adding a color. Thanks again.
Renee, I have followed you from the beginning, and now I am completely transitioned to silver and loving it because of YOU! You are beautiful and your hair suits you. You have no idea the age of the person who asked if you were 30 or 70? Probably someone very young. I think it's harder for them to know age. You look GREAT! I think Randy is right, that you look young, but people always believe silver hair goes on old people, and hopefully this stereotype will change as more people are owning it! Oddly, I had the reverse thing happen many years ago when Jon Benet Ramsey was killed. I remember the first time seeing her photo (one of the pageant photos) and I had no idea if she was a little girl or a teen, or even late teen because of her make up, hair, etc. It can really make it hard to know for sure? I'd hang onto the point that she thought you could be 30! :)
