Im surprised that ILM (Ya I know its an Amazon helmet) was not included in this budget episode. I have the z501 Armor Red and honestly for the price its well worth for what I use it for. Mountain biking with a new standard for helmets. Or at least trying to set a new standard up here in Canada.

Scorpion EXO 420 is not a bad rig after all it has a lot of features and benefits of the go fast cool factor better looking and aerodynamic of any of the serious beginner to medium advance type use and the price is killer! No wonder they are going outta stock! I'm a Texan so the XL black with Texas state has my name all over it 💪😎🤘

Something important you forgot to mention about ECE is that they require testing for rotational forces too, whereas Snell & DOT don't. For the majority of motorcycle applications, ECE is actually the safest rating to look for. (Fellow Fortnine viewers will also be aware of the shady shit behind the Snell sticker that makes them overall untrustworthy, as well)

I’ve been wearing a cheap fuel helmet that cost 80 bucks the guy I bought my first motorcycle from (ninja 250r) gave it to me and I didn’t realize there was it was a bullshit helmet till watching this frankly after riding many motorcycles with it and close calls I think it’s time to upgrade lol
The scorpion is my first helmet and I’d definitely recommend it. There really isn’t much wind noise even at high speeds.
The Scorpion helmet I have has a very scratch resistant face shield, much longer lasting than my previous helmets. Note the DOT rating is self reported so might be total hogwash. ECE and Snell are independent tested. See the Sharp rating system online, from the UK.
Great example at a time when I’ve been considering retiring my older Shoei Modular . Of all the street lids I’ve owned the Shoei was the most comfortable,however there are helmets on your list I will definitely check out. Thanks for all your research.

I got the Bell DLX MIPS for $215 on black Friday. It also comes with a self-tinting less standard.
Best ten bucks I ever spent in my life was for a US combat vehicle crewman (CVC, aka DH-132 tanker) helmet I picked up at an incredible sale at a war surplus store in the late 1980s. I liked it because the ear pieces fold in and stores away easy in the bike luggage or a backpack. $2 for cheap rubber army goggles and they're good to go. Decades later, that helmet saved my life when I got in a motorcycle collision with a minivan driven by a 16-year-old with a rather... relaxed view of what those YIELD street signs suggest. Scratched up the helmet and utterly ruined the goggles, but I didn't get a scratch (and my ancient US Air Force arctic parka saved my arms and elbows as well).
I use an HJC i10. If you need a pin lock, the hj31 helmet pin locks work
Another good tip would be to try to find an Arai or Shoei on a good sale, I got my Arai for $350 and its normally like $800

Scorpion helmets are great bang for the buck.

My Bride has the EXO 420 and she loves it. I have a Sedici Strada II Primo that is also DOT and Snell rated and under $200.

HJC i10 was my first helmet, totally would recommend it to start, then I bought an Arai, the rest is history.

i wqas looking at the flex star dlx hows the one you have today? i notice 80 percent of helmets are the same eps liner. Onbly 2 ive found besides mips have a rotational system, 6d, and bell
I got a fly revolt for my first helmet. 165 dollars, came with 2 face shield and is very well vented. Also snell rated
I’m on my 2nd Scorpion 420 and cannot say one thing bad about it. My Cardo system fits perfect and switching visors is simple.

When you say ECE rated, which one do you mean, 22-05 or 22-06? Coz that’s a big difference

I'd love to see you do a review of the 509 street helmets. They are DOT & ECE certified and seem to be very reasonably priced. There isnt much info about these helmets out there and Im hesitant to order one without knowing they are too good to be true.
The Scorpion EXO-R420 comes in a Lonestar graphic, as a Texan, I'm surprised you didn't mention it

The AGV K1 is also a great option for the price. Here in Europe is a very popular choise.
Strange to see no agv on this list, i can get a k1 for 200 or a k5 for 3. what do you think of kyt and airoh as brands and what can you say about their build quality? kyt tt course looks super aggressively shaped and has a few designs i like.
I purchased 3 different helmet Bell Revolver EVO Jackal Modular and LS2 Valiant ll Modular & Scorpion EXO T1200 Mainstay full face helmet! Only problem I have Modular helmet its is heavy! Yammie Noob

Got my Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS last week. Too bad this video just came out. At least got confirmed that it's a good helmet. LOL.
Not too many choices for 3XL round head. Maybe you can consider doing a video for super large/small heads which are usually hard to find a helmet (like which brand usually make bigger helmet, etc).

@@rickbreezy349 oh, I love it. Fits much better than my old LS2. Only thing is I chose the fallen angle graphics which is too high profile to me. Also, it's a bit warm in the south. I might get some modular one like scorpion exo for summer

HJC is THE best cheap helmet brand ever. It’s a total package and I’ve ran their CS-R3, C70 and now C71 models. The noise-proofing and comfort, along with features and designs, totally punch above their price

I don’t get why people would drop 3-4x the cost for a helmet. If you fall you’ll be protected about the same and you’ll have to replace them regardless.

even my Shoei helmet has terrible wind noise and is supposed to be a lot better than these entry level helmets in that department. I just wear ear plugs which I can't convince my wife to do.

The bell qualifier was my first helmet and was terrible, very cheap feeling, creaked all the time, would fog up, had crazy wind noise, the visor would not seal with the gasket when closed. Was light and cheap though.
I would not recommend it.

Been looking at Arai and Shoei helmets for awhile. Started with a Bilt that had a Bluetooth. Didn’t know there was a difference in helmets, until I bought my son a Sedici Strada2 helmet. I was blown away by the weight compared to my Bilt.

Arai helmets are just incredibly comfortable. I have the Cardo system on it.

what helmet should I buy if I wear glasses? ( I can't see without them -_-)
this isnt mentioned in the video, but i have the agv k1 and my glasses fit fine in them! i believe all of the agv k series have glasses slots like k6 and k3 if your more interested in those.
Plus you can wear sunglasses if you plan on starting the ride daytime and coming home afterhours like he mentioned
The HJC i10 has space in the cheeks to be able to hold glasses comfortably

Question for Americans, is it legal to ride without a helmet there? I only ask because you see people in cinema and social media riding without helmets and i was wondering is that a small subset of dickheads who neither care about the law and their life or if it is in fact just not law.
