That's pretty much in my opinion why I feel The Patrick Show succeeded where Kamp Koral failed. It took a bit but it managed to cut itself a niche that not necessary can be found 100% inside regular Spongebob and does it as a way to really stretch it wings regardless is it works or fails. I have said it before but NOTHING in Kamp Koral felt like it couldn't be done in the main show because the concept of "Cartoon IP but now kids" is suppose to allow stuff to happen that couldn't work before because of the character's age...something that doesn't work with Spongebob because he is an adult that acts like a child, allowing him be put in scenarios that appeal to any age. Meanwhile Patrick Show was, ironically enough, smarter in its approach. Knowing the humor could still be something you maybe could still get out of regular Spongebob, it decided to switch its FORMAT giving us a way of how the show is presented that does change from its source material. "Fraiser may have Cheers's DNA but as a show itself Fraiser is NOT Cheers" The Patrick Show almost feels like a variety/skit show now which works for introducing ideas rapidly without needing for much structure. For me it feels like some sort of "Spongebob Sample Testing": A plate of different bite sized sales of food for one to nibble on. Some you may like, some you may find taste, but all arr just sampling and so it doesn't take too much of your time. Meanwhile, main spongebob works as the actually fully prepared meal, where you commit to eat the plate rather than just taste test, and so the two can co-exist without much issue.
No matter how you may feel about this show and recent Spongebob including me, the animation is godly and makes you appreciate how it takes advantage of the fact it's a cartoon. Most shows these days would NEVER.
honestly i find myself enjoying patrick show over modern SB and especially kamp koral, it's just so much more up my alley and it really does just feel like the stronger show of the 3 at times

I'm 30 and remember the first time Spongebob came out. I was like 5. So I've seen the shows birth and where it is today. Tbh, The Patrick Show is probably the most refreshing writing in the SpongeBob universe in a decade, at least a few years. It may not be as well written as early SpongeBob but for this era and modern world it works. It may not be top tier writing which I think cartoons need more of, but its exciting and entertaining and goofy yet... Not too sloppy.

Apparently according to a short, Doug Walker wasn't aware of the "Bubble Bass Reviews" episode until after it came out and Nickelodeon never contacted him about the episode when it was in production, despite blatantly using his likeness.
@@DantesGrill Of course, we still can't get Doug Walker to show a full episode of The Patrick Star Show on here in 1080p quality without getting a copyright claim from Paramount Global, even when the show directly mocks him. Don't you love the way copyright works?
If they wanted to use Doug Walker's voice for new lines, then they would ask him or find a good enough soundalike. If they don't want to use his voice, then they don't need to ask at all.
He's a recurring character in both the main show and The Patrick Star Show named Slappy (imo he works a lot better in The Patrick Star Show, he doesn't really fit the main show's style).
Yeah I wasn't expecting this show to get good either, but it knows what it wants to be and has a wide variety of different segments some featuring stop motion even!
Honestly, I feel like the Patrick Show took a similar approach to TTG in being more meta and nonsensical. However, you can tell they were doing it in good fun with the fans instead of it being made because, "LOL, LOOK AT HOW SILLY THESE ANGRY FANS ARE!"
The fact that The Patrick Star Show of all things managed to cause a meltdown in the Steven Universe cult- I mean “fandom” is so amazing and perfect lmao
It’s quite a miracle that this show is doing pretty well. Granted it’s a spin off but at least it has its moments to enjoy like that Nostalgia Critic reference.
The "lack of focus" has been gone for a while in an objective way. I don't really think the first eps lacked of focus but there were some scenes that definitely felt a bit apart from the ep.
I feel like this show's going to be someone's Chowder: a fast paced and high energy cartoon that knows how to be a cartoon in the best way. Im sure its not perfect if I went to watch and judge it now, but im also VERY nostalgia blinded by the artstyle and sense of humor clicking with me
I do know that most of the people crew during a second half of Season 1 are actually from Looney Tunes Cartoons like Gabe Del Valle, Mike Pelensky and Jacob Fleisher. Heck, even Sean Dempsey made his animation return after his first three seasons of "SpongeBob SquarePants".
Honestly, i gave the show and it's actually enjoyable i ain't gonna lie, aside from the parents everything else really caught my eyes and actually made me stick around It's a challenge when giving secondary characters their own shows to star on their own and actually making tven good (Planet Sheen) but in mu opinion The Patrick Show manages to fit
What do you mean FINALLY got good? It was always good! Nah, nah, I get it being too abrasive for some, but this was a show where I instantly got on its wavelength. That said, the switch from script-to-board-driven has given it a whole new energy that works even better than before. Some of my favourite artists have contributed to this show, and frankly, there needs to be a space on TV for creatives to run free. SpongeBob has now managed the rare feat of being both insanely successful/profitable and completely untouchable. It's obvious the show will never die, so Nick just pays the artists to do whatever they want since they have nothing to lose. Given the state of the industry, I'm really glad there's a kids show on right now where I can tell everyone making it is having fun. The Patrick Show and Smiling Friends are safe havens for pure cartoonists.
Originally when the patrick star show started, i really liked the first few episodes a lot, i kinda understand why ppl didn't like it, but i really did, a bit later on tho, when better episodes came out, i started to realise the first few episodes really aren't that great, i think when it gets to the second half of season 1, well, specifically the drooling fool and onwards, there are some really good episodes, some of my favourites being the patterfly effect and get off my lawnie, i mean, the first half of season 1 has some good episodes too, i enjoyef episodes like supersitters and gas station vacation, and it's funny u mention stair wars and fitz Patrick, cus i really enjoyed stair wars, and didn't really like fitz Patrick, i think i just found it a bit repetitive, tho with a lot of the other episodes in the first half of season 1, they aren't the best, and the both the second half and season 2 so half have been a lot more consistent
The only early ep that kind of has gotten worse to me now is Stair Wars. It's good but it spends a lot of time doing whatever and doesn't explore the premise enough. Enemies à la Mode however is excellent imo. It has very little focus while still managing to make a coherent story with fun interactions and outstanding animation.

Unrelated but interestingly, this video appeared as a "watch again" instead of giving me a notification for a new upload. TH-cam what the hell is going on with you?
Considering that the Smiling Friends got Doug Walker, it’d be neat if Doug cameo’d on The Pattick Star Show for real.
Apparently according to a short, Doug Walker wasn't aware of the "Bubble Bass Reviews" episode until after it came out and Nickelodeon never contacted him about the episode when it was in production, despite blatantly using his likeness.
@@andykishore They don't need permission for parodies
@@DantesGrill But how often do you get the man who created it to directly respond to the parody?
@@DantesGrill Of course, we still can't get Doug Walker to show a full episode of The Patrick Star Show on here in 1080p quality without getting a copyright claim from Paramount Global, even when the show directly mocks him. Don't you love the way copyright works?
If they wanted to use Doug Walker's voice for new lines, then they would ask him or find a good enough soundalike. If they don't want to use his voice, then they don't need to ask at all.
THE SECURITY SYSTEM TAKES CONTROL OF SQUIDWARD’S HOUSE - Bubble Bass
1:12 Is that a Peter Lorre caricature??? That is, like, a _decades-old_ Looney Tunes gag. What the hell?
He's a recurring character in both the main show and The Patrick Star Show named Slappy (imo he works a lot better in The Patrick Star Show, he doesn't really fit the main show's style).
It went from being nickelodeon's cleveland show to an animated arrested development
Guys I think the LS stands for looks sexy
True theorist
Game Theory theme starts playing
@@Gold_Gamer_100 That's just a theory. A gay theory
Real talk, it's probably short for Light Speed. Because Sonic
Yeah I wasn't expecting this show to get good either, but it knows what it wants to be and has a wide variety of different segments some featuring stop motion even!
I am praying for Rock Paper Scissors to last at least a couple years and have it be able to stand toe to toe with Spongebob & The Loud House.
iirc the show's S2 was cancelled even before it officially premiered...
Def deserved way better than whatever TLH is.
Okay this is making me seriously consider watching it, it has references, dumb humour and stupid gags. Just my thing.
I remember watching a few episodes of this thinking it was dumb, but I didn’t know that season 2 would be a lot better
I wasn't expecting you to make another video about this show.
New video on my BIRTHDAY?!?! YUUUUUUSSSSSS!!!!!
Happy cake day
10:37 this joke got me ngl
Genuinely though I would like to see a video on Rock, Paper, Scissors.
That show is goated.
It looks so fun to work on
🤩 The people working on this Nicktoon spinoff is _really _*_giving their all_*_ nowadays!_
As a SU fan, that gag is 100% accurate
That SU ref caught me off Guard. That was good, lol. Heres to The Patrick Star Show! Seems to be doing well.
Some people Here forgot that a Children Show is mainly for Children......
Why have I NEVER heard about this show?
Were you in a coma? Living in Iraq? Or under a rock? Lol
You could say you were living under a rock, although Patrick is living out of his rock in The Patrick Star Show.
I hope that Rock Paper Scissors has a good future on Nickelodeon.
I'm just hoping it isn't the next Fairly Oddparents
Good point.
Now mess with us by releasing the American dad video on Canada Day.
Honestly, I feel like the Patrick Show took a similar approach to TTG in being more meta and nonsensical. However, you can tell they were doing it in good fun with the fans instead of it being made because, "LOL, LOOK AT HOW SILLY THESE ANGRY FANS ARE!"
Hearing it’s been 2+ years since this show aired made me almost have a heart attack
ROCK PAPERS SCISSORS MENTIONED
Rock paper scissors is really funny you should make a video about it so more people can know about it
11:21 if someone asked me to draw Patrick from memory, this is how he would look.
I gotta be honest, The Patrick Show nowadays is SpongeBob Seasons 1-3 compared to modern SpongeBob and Kamp Koral.
The fact that The Patrick Star Show of all things managed to cause a meltdown in the Steven Universe cult- I mean “fandom” is so amazing and perfect lmao
*CHUM IS FÜM.😎*
The fact that Nickelodeon had the guts to make fun of Steven Universe in the Patrick Show makes me suddenly respect them a whole lot more
1:00 HE SHOWED THE THING
It’s quite a miracle that this show is doing pretty well. Granted it’s a spin off but at least it has its moments to enjoy like that Nostalgia Critic reference.
I think Plankton should've gotten a spinoff instead of Patrick
Nah, Patrick works a lot better for a spinoff imo. Plankton could work but it's kind of hard to think of a specific idea for the show tbh.
can’t believe patrick got his groove back
I'm fwiggin mindblown at the Steven Universe artstyle part
tombstone cutaway actually got me they’re cooking here
As cool as it was to have a Nostalgia Critic reference (before Smiling Friends), it's not enough to make up for the lack of focus
The "lack of focus" has been gone for a while in an objective way. I don't really think the first eps lacked of focus but there were some scenes that definitely felt a bit apart from the ep.
1 view in 1 minute?
Wow your channel is growing fast!
If they wanted to make a spin off show, they should have made one about Mermaid Man and Barnacle Bou
A fairly odd parents seinfeld reference after "a show about nothing" is truly incredible work
I feel like this show's going to be someone's Chowder: a fast paced and high energy cartoon that knows how to be a cartoon in the best way.
TWO YEARS???
THANK YOU! finally someone says something positive about the Patrick star show!:) my ass has been over here defending the show since the start HAHA
It's autistic brainrot for small children. Bet you liked Clarence and Uncle Grandpa too
@@Mid-Suavemente okay buddy lmao
@@Mid-Suavemente You're not very good at trolling haha
now all we need is for James Rolfe to be referenced or make a cameo in The Patrick Star Show and it'll all be full circle.
Honestly, i gave the show and it's actually enjoyable i ain't gonna lie, aside from the parents everything else really caught my eyes and actually made me stick around
It's a challenge when giving secondary characters their own shows to star on their own and actually making tven good (Planet Sheen) but in mu opinion The Patrick Show manages to fit
Yea I think early S1 is already great. The weakest eps of the show imo are Late for Breakfast, Pat-a-Thon and Host-a-Palooza but those alright.
