Hi Emma your lovely tulips changing colour is nothing to do with cross pollination since this would only affect what is produced from the resulting seed. What is happening is a natural result of ageing. Think of it like people getting old and developing grey hair. 🙂
Well done, When I 1st started to grow rhubarb I killed them every time, In new and exciting ways. its so nice now to have so much rhubarb every year, we make jam every year and make it into Jam cake which is so yummy
Thanks for explaining about the pollution under the fine netting, I’ve got some but was wondering how they would pollinate with it on. Also you do make me laugh whose alive and who’s died play it with your kids! I did used to poke my kids when they were little to check they were still breathing in their sleep. I still occasionally do it now they are 22 and 25 years old and it’s usually after a heavy night out😂 I just get so paranoid. Xx
Emma I'm so pleased for you that your new rhubarb is starting to show signs of life 🎉 keep an eye as it grows for flower stems because they will suck the goodness from the stems that you will want to eventually pull and eat. I grew my rhubarb plants from seed last year, also a newbie at rhubarb growing and they have enormous leaves and stems already. I did have a couple of flower stems which I cut off at their base and since then the plant has dramatically grown, woohoo!
Emma, I think you are just delightful. I just found your channel. I love your honesty and your humor. I live in the states and love gardening too. Keep up the good work, we are all learning as we go.
Hi Emma. Maybe you could try putting a "belt" of coffee grounds around the edge (inside of outside) of the polytunnel to ceep the slugs away. Sometimes you can be lucky to get it from a café or something like that. Have not tried it yet, but have collected coffee grounds from my work all winther 😅 I have found it very effective to remove and kill all I see. Get out both morning and evening and kollect the "precious" 🤣
You're plot is looking so fabulous Emma, I went to my plot after watching you're vlog a couple of weeks ago , I started with emptying my greenhouse and found a couple of bags of tulip bulbs I'd forgotten about, But when I looked at them they were sprouting so I whacked them in the border of my plot, Maybe theyll grow I'm not sure yet, I also went to screwfix and bought some water piping and I'm going up this sunday to attempt the structure that you have made on youres, then I'm gonna transplant afew of my brassica seedlings in that bed and hope for the best, Thank you so much for toure advice, Have a magiKal easter weekend, blessingZ and positive planting energies xx
Beginner gardener yes. But you will eventually find out, no matter how long you've been gardening, there'll always be something new you are learning. In Physics and chemistry, all factors can be controlled in a lab. They try for 99% confidence. Biology? anything above 65% correlation is worth looking into! It's so complex that you never know for sure, if you know right. 6:10 LOL, I used to do that a long time ago.
Hi Emma with the slugs I have been told get some beer I a pint or tub and put it around your veg the slugs will go for the beer and not eat your greens
Your Tulips are lovely , beautiful range of colours. Would be interested if that anti-slug stuff works. I think you are right though try a range of ways of combatting them , beer traps etc.
Great video Emma. As a newbie to allotment and veg growing I’m definitely going to get some plug plant veg, whack them in and see how they go. I might even try the slugless too. I use nematodes on my garden at home and it’s brilliant but I fancy trying something new. Interested to see what you think of it. Deb
😀 really enjoying your videos recently 👍 do you know roughly what size your allotment plot is? It looks huge! Because you have so much room for access to beds, and the shed, I was hoping to compare the size to allotments near me that I might have access to soon 😀 thanks
hi Emma your peas look ok but mind the pigeons on my Allotment we have plenty and they will strip them hope you dont have any all best in your Gardening😆
I really hope that people watching your channel hoping to learn something don’t think that is the proper way to remove plants from there containers. Watched you tip your peas out in a heap and the same with this one video and your Cauliflowers . To people watching this is not the way to remove them gently easing out will remove without any damage or shock
Isn't Nature wonderful always inventing and renewing itself. All We can do is admire. We too are her creation.
Your tulips are like rhubarb and custard, I love them!!!

Hi Emma, I have read somewhere about slugs , they like oat bran and you can make a garlic drench
I hope this helps

My peas are being munched on by slugs 😭Any advice?
At 7:02 does your son say well done ? 😂
These tulips look real but shop bought? Have they been plopped into the ground just for the video? All closed buds, all standing tightly shaped. Hmmm?
