can you provide a link to the original video of alex hirsch talking about thumbnails and tiny drawings?

The answer was to add thumbnails, they don’t have to be pretty, just outline the idea and give an explanation of your process

I'm a 2D animator too and it's good that we get some advice from people who have experience in the industry

I remember watching shorts by Alex Hirsch from when he was still attending Calarts. Shout out to his old bud Walby. By now I think it actually is just me and Alex Hirsch who remember Walby.

I can't give advice on the voice acting part, but for animation: study bits of animation you like, figure out what you like about it, and try to emulate it, or do observational drawings of how things move (like find a video of a cat or person, draw a pose, then skip a couple frames and draw that one, etc.). You don't even need a program to do this, a notebook would be fine, but if you want one flipaclip or animation paper are good free ones. There's also lots of animators on here with great tutorials and videos, like Toniko Pantoja, Alex Grigg, NobelFrugal Studio, and moderndayjames just to name a few. Animatorisland has a list of 51 animation exercises you can do too.
For storyboarding study movies or shows you like, pick a scene, and do rough thumbnail drawings of each shot change, noting the framing and the position of the subjects and the acting and how the camera moves, or find boards from shows you like. For practice, I like to take clips from songs or podcasts I listen to or scenes from books and board them out.
For both of them, doing figure studies is super important (using photos from pinterest and a timer or the site lineofaction, or find figure study videos on here), but if you're just starting honestly the most important thing is to keep drawing and not be hard on yourself. Take breaks when you need, it's good to rest and take time to digest things so you don't burn out, but honestly I've improved the most when I get really into something and just constantly drew stuff for it for fun. Even if you're not feeling it, bad drawings are better then no drawings at all and either way you're still subconsciously learning from it.
Sorry for the long comment, hope this helps!👍

I'm currently struggling to find a school education because I live in Germany and in Germany it is so hard to find a school education to become a storyboard artist one day. I was struggling for a while to find something that i would like to want and now I'm sure that i want to be a storyboard artist but i don't know how i get there. I'm also currently working on my own show but until then i need to have a school education to get a good portfolio

Brochure design I think falls under graphic design. Luckily I did have some graphic design teachers so I can answer this based on what they taught me about portfolios. For graphic design portfolios, it's very common and even recommended to show your process. My teacher called them case studies. If thumbnails are part of your process, go for it. The point is for clients to see how you work and what it takes to get to the final product. My teacher also recommended to show your passion while showing your process. Hope that helps.

I’m struggling with how the shorts version of this cuts off before conveying the info about Alex incorporating samples that show he can do storytelling.
I followed this channel because of this video, because this conveyed such good info.
I’m unfollowing because your vids are more about engagement bait than education.
    It’s such a pity.

Feedback is fine! Im trying new stuff as I get to know my TH-cam audience. Powerful animation inspiration is still the priority. I’ve posted tons of vids and think most people will give me the benefit of the doubt as we figure things out.
