Outstanding discussion. Congratulations to these two good men for working hard and making their entrepreneurial dreams come true. I now have a goal to one day soon, own a pair of their beautiful shoes.
A big part of the allure of Savile Row is the heritage and history, though it is always nice to see someone back themselves because they have the conviction that they can bring something new and contribute value. There have been some long term fixtures on the Row that have had to pack up and it’s always a pity but at the same time, you root for the newbies. Bold move from these 2 to go on the Row and not on Jermyn Street. Their shoes are exceptional, I hope they succeed.
Wonderful chat with two icons of shoemaking with an added bonus of a shoe polishing masterclass. Tom your Terry Haste suit in all its glory looked dashing on you sir.
Thank you, Tom, for slowing the answers from the two G&G partners in order to dig deeper on technical aspects. Sometimes shorthand terminology loses ignoramuses like me, so one much appreciated the unravelling of a seemingly simple subject as shoe making. I shall never again look at shoes in the same light ~ Nick.
Such nice gentleman. I loved meeting Tony when I dropped by. Then ordered some MTO shoes at the Las Vegas Trunk show. I can’t wait to wear them. Lovely interview.
I know that I say this every time, but it was another excellent, and very informative video. Brilliant interview with G&G. A bonus was the shoe shine, and seeing that the wax that I use, Saphir was mentioned, I also use their shoe cream. I had a chuckle when I saw that the shoe shine chap had tramlines in his trousers. I had my usual glass or 2 of 10 year old tawny whilst I was watching. Laughed at the Tom 'One Take' Chamberlin bit, although I did miss the out takes. I'm guessing that Tom's suit was the Brioni one featured in the latest issue of The Rake?
Superb insight. I am part of a military family and have spent many hours in that wonderful building. It has been an honour and privilege to do so. You encompass the standards people envisage of such places impeccably.
Exceptional. It’s so heartening to see British traditional craftsmanship, creativity, entrepreneurship and sartorial elegance shine…and I say this as an Irishman. 😂 Great work gents. Also, an utter chef’s kiss to the gent at the end. Making a craft like that into an art form is the highest form of civilisation as far as I’m concerned. Inspiring. ❤
Although a regular customer of G & G (I’ve visited the factory too) I wasn’t aware of the meaning of some of those shoemaking terms until this excellent video. One constructive point - it would be helpful if the camera could zoom in on details when discussed. It was, for example, not easy to see the way the welt fits to the inner sole as the camera shot was effectively fixed in place the whole time.
Fantastic, the correct term for the rasp that is used on 'good stuff' is "hand stitched rasp".. not "hand pricked". Fantastic video .... oh!, the wax used on the cord used on welting and attaching soles is "hand wax" or "coad" .... it's a blend of bee's wax, tallow and pine rosin.
Thank you Tom. A fantastic video. Personally I would like to have had an a - z on which product to use when cleaning shoes. I know you did your best to identify products but would be really keen to hear detail of each stage. That aside another wonderful video. All the best.
Such delight I took from this engaging interaction by not only the finest shoemakers in the world but with the superb shoeshine at the end of the video. Whilst sitting back with my Cohiba I was intrigued on all aspects of this video. Mr Chamberlin can anybody pop in to see the shoeshine gent or is this only for Gaziano Girling? Could this be made clear.
That chap made an exceptional job on your shoes. Very impressive.

My favorite Gentleman's London so far. Steve's polishing comments were extremely helpful. Thanks Tom!

The shoe shine chap was brilliant

I'm currently awaiting to receive my first pair of MTO Gaziano & Girling shoes and feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!
Truly fascinating. Thank you Tom
just love these episodes! Brilliant tour of all things gentlemanly and British.

Absolutely brilliant. Even this colonist can appreciate such a fine channel. keep up the fantastic work look forward to the next installment.
Tom in his Terry Haste suit. Terry and his team on Sackville Street are great; lovely people and experts. My new trousers they made me are fabulous.

That shoe polisher is an artist
Glad to see Steve of ShoeShineUk getting the exposure he deserves but so rarely receives!
Even shoe polishing is an art that's more than the skill!
Thankyou
Great stuff.
Thanks for the trip into the quality that is G&G.

Are they really the first bespoke shoe shop on Saville Row? I remember seeing Maxwell in a basement in the 1990`s...
Correct…..Henry Maxwell. I recall them in 1973!
Amazing, thanks
Thumb up video. Nice to see a Man in a good dress and a gentelam! Rudi.
Lovely shoes.
Nice shoeshine Tom
Does he do any shoes and do you have contact details?
Tom's mic not working.
If the lord in heaven allows me to live long enough, I dream of visiting this storefront someday god willing.
That shoe shine was pukka!
What’s name of the music used for the intro?
Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons
@@Lasciatemi_Guidare thank you!
Tony, if you read this, just a reminder for my boot sketch🎉.
What kind of money are we talking about for a bespoke pair of shoes?
Their made to order service runs to a couple of thousand pounds, so more than that
'Never wear brown in town'.
Er, Mr Gaziano hasn't got a tie on.... was he in a hurry getting ready this morning?
He doesn’t need to, particularly as he’s wearing a sports jacket rather than a suit. Either or!
😂
