White Chocolate Buttercream Recipe

  • This is my favorite white chocolate buttercream recipe for frosting cakes and cupcakes! It has the perfect white chocolate flavor without being too sweet and is super easy to whip up. Full recipe + instructions are on my blog here: sugarandsparro...
    White Chocolate Buttercream
    Yield: 2 1/2 Cups
    Ingredients:
    6 oz (170g) white chocolate chips
    1 Cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature
    1 1/2 Cups (180g) powdered sugar
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp kosher salt
    Instructions:
    1. Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave or a double boiler, stirring until there are no lumps. Set aside to cool slightly.
    2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on high until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Turn the mixer to low, add the powdered sugar, and mix until well combined. Scrape down the bowl and paddle, give the melted white chocolate a few stirs and make sure it’s not hot enough to melt the butter (if it is still too hot, wait a few minutes before adding!), then add it in. Turn the mixer to medium speed and beat for 2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth. Add the vanilla and salt and mix on low for another minute, until fully combined.

    When it sits it might be a very hard buttercream even in room temperature,.I think if you use a white ganache it would be much lighter and soft buttercream . Just an opinion ❤

    It looks amazing, ¿do you recommended for tropical climates?

      Thank you! I'm not sure how well it would do in a tropical climate (I live in a really mild climate) but my hunch is that it would start to melt above 85 degrees or so. You could sub some or all of the butter for shortening to help make it more heat resistant if needed!

    Looks lucious. But in hot humid weather here unfortunately I would have to make SMBC😔. Do you add extra white colouring? 💞
