The exclusion area outlined in white is a good idea and most viewers have been wanting something like this for a very long time. Years ago it wasn't needed because we all respected the guard and the horses space,but in recent years that respect has gone and so many people treat it as if it's Disneyland instead of working soldiers on duty. I would like to see people employed to issue on the spot fines for infringements of the rules.
THE GUARDS WILL HAVE TO ENFORCE THAT WHITE LINE AND PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR HORSES. POLICE SHOULD BE OUT THERE TO REMOVE TOURISTS THAT BREAK THE RULES AND THE WHITE LINE.
I think law is the wrong word, it is a public highway, but it hopefully will deter the tourists to have a little respect for the horse and the rider who is a fully trained British soldier despite his very fancy uniform

They are laying new cobble stones not cleaning the old ones,they will then scrape the flaking old paint, sand it down and repaint the doors. Hopefully should all be finished by Tuesday 24th ot Wednesday 25th September
takes time for the cement to cure which the new cobblestones is set in, as well as painting of doors etc.. there is other repairs going on within the court yard etc which have to be attended to as well
I use this pedestrian walkway to reach my office. The high tourist season congestion will likely mean people such as me shall end up walking around the visitors off the walkway and on the road instead. People want this to protect the horses, I understand, but it's a daft idea. It's not to take stress off the horses *at all*. It's to keep silly people from being biten. Visitors shall mass themselves around the white line and when a horse rushes out of the box someone will be trampled or pushed into traffic. I am surprised the Westminster Council allowed this as the pedestrian walkway doesn't belong to the Ministry of Defence but to the public. Some people complained at the Guards yelling at them. It hurt their tender feelings. Things went all wonky when the order for the Guards to tone things was given. It's devolved to this. I might not quibble at having to risk walking on Whitehall if I didn't know it's the sea of people around the horse which causes stress to susceptible horses. Some bureaucrat who doesn't understand the situation must have ordered this. A horse doesn't see a white line on the floor as protective.
Will there be protection for the standing guards? They are harassed as well. Ten feet back from the chain a good distance. Give them peace allow them to work in peace.
Call me a pessimist, but the tourists who make up their mind that they WILL molest the horses -- well, they'll just find other ways to get under the guards' skin.
