36:41 Sorting and organizing the Base Kit and Expansion Pack with an extra sorting box
I'm opening two brand new boxes: the 45678 SPIKE Prime kit and it's an expansion pack, set number 45680. You will see every part inside and get a feel of the possibilities of the set. I'm building a little model, right out of the box, without any programming. This set is like a simpler and more accessible robotics set than the MINDSTORMS EV3. I found myself skeptical at the beginning because the motors and hub are less powerful than EV3, but the easy of building greatly compensates for that. The rechargeable battery is great news too.

Hey Anton. I love your channel and website. Keep making these great videos, they are really helpful.
I am thinking of getting the SP expansion set to go along with the 51515 I got my daughter for Christmas.

That's my plan too. There are heaps of cool things to do with the sets! We did the cyclist from the SP set with 51515 with a few modifications and created our own project. Our boys love it!

Yes its great. We made our own version of a tricycle.(search on TH-cam for SP tricycle boy)
Lots of great ideas out there and hopefully there will be an expansion set at some stage.

@@Fishamble That may be similar to what we did, we used three wheels. If you look up the “cyclist” its the larger wheels, balancing on two! First project when we get the expansion! The one we made was from the education section of the Lego website.

We haven't gotten to the educational section of the lego site yet, but will be sure to check it out. Thanks.

This is the one we made and it turned out awesome. No instructions though, so it was not quiet as good.

    Hi Anton, greetings from Australia.
Really enjoy watching this unboxing video. What a brilliant way to sort out the bricks and banana gears. inspiring indeed!
Why did you get the extra organization box at the end of the video? I want the same one!!!! Could you please paste a link here?
    Cheers,
    Benny

It's a Wham! brand box, and I'm really really happy with it. You can find it in professional hardware stores around here, but its not easy.

The brand is Wham! But the boxes are hard to find. Whenever I see some in a hardware store, I buy them.

With previous NXT and EV3 mindstorms, there were 2 versions. Educational and Retail. The retail sets had more parts than the core set, but similar once the expansion set was added. What I haven't been able to find out easily is how the combined Spike Prime and Expansion sets compares to the 51515 set. IE what would need to be added to each option to make them equivalent?

    • @jimlewis1
      @jimlewis1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So far I have bought some of the larger wheels, the new cog and blue slip cog and the long pinion rack element (as well as some of the cable clips in all colours)

Is the Prime set like Mindstorm in the programmable department? Can you use Scratch to program the hub in the Prime set?

FYI the expansion set has been revised to include a panel on which a microcontroller board can be attached (Raspberry Pi/Arduino)
