Watched some clips of Inhaler playing live. Pretty good for such young guys and Eli is so much like his father that I sort of feel bad for him; he's going to have a rough time establishing himself as his own man and not just 'Baby Bono'. One thing that really stood out though was his stage presence; I found that at this age, his father was still figuring out how to sing; how to act on stage. Eli just oozes confidence already and seems more than comfortable up there; he's more like his Achtung Baby-era dad than Boy era!
U2 is my favorite band, but I Love Inhaler’s song/sound. Eli sounds so similar to his dad, but yet uniquely different at the same time. It’s hard to explain.... Lol
Would've loved a dad like yours, sharing these songs and all. Just awesome man. Just awesome. And, well, even though I shared some U2 songs with my dad, we never really had this. So, congrats to your dad for being an amazing person.
U2 are my favourite band, so I won't even pretend like it's hard for me to choose a winner XD But I do like Inhaler's style. I just feel like they haven't found their personality as a band yet. And yes, Eli sounds a lot like his dad (and looks like him too!)
U2 are my favorite band that I grew up with. They’re the powerhouse, like the band you trust to protect you and lead the planet; but Inhaler is a different animal, though equally great already, at least at these early points of comparison - only it’s more like I want to be the one protecting them. I’m not sure how to put it better. Inhaler is easily the best thing from the last few years; I have heard all their stuff, and it’s all perfection.
Out of Control is such a fantastic live song..........."We’re a band from the north side of Dublin. We’re called U2, this is our first single. We hope you like it."
I known most people don’t think of U2 as post punk but the debut “Boy” is truly a post punk record. If I ever get around to my top 50 albums this most certainly would be on it. Earlier in the year I heard “ We have to Move On” by Inhaler. Didn’t know it was Bono’s son. Once I knew ,one can hear the resemblance. This is a good track too. Will have to give U2 the nod though.
Bono once said they were Punk, That being who you are and what you are is rebellion. U2 was formed shortly after the Ramones played their first concerts in Europe. Another band that attended a concert in Europe is The Sex Pistols.
This takes me back to walking to junior high school listening to a new band called “U2” on my cassette player. Before they were called Walkman’s lol🎶 have seen them over 60+ times and the best live band ever🔥🎤🎸🥁 Inhaler is up and coming and bravo to Eli for following in his Fathers steps. I bet Bono is a proud papa✌🏼💜
That is cool that you said it is Bono vs a song by his son. The first song is like Punk Rock like you said Trey and there is a shift in tempo and arrangement like you said Shawn. The music is upbeat while the lyrics are dramatic and somber. The second song is also upbeat with a fast tempo like the first song. That is interesting that you said Shawn that father and son were at the same age level during these two songs. I agree with you guys that the winner is U2 Out Of Control. It was close but U2 wins.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Things are very hard here But I'm good, I'm a Music lover and I'm going to Follow your channel. Inhaler Has More nice songs Excellent band. Happy New Year too 😎🤘
Both these songs come into their own at a live gig. My Honest Face just before the line I could be on tv, the floor doesn’t half start bouncing. Both songs really enjoyable
Just discovered Inhaler a little over a month ago & can't get enough of them. They are down to earth & super talented. I love their sound & energy. If you get a chance listen to Eli's cover of Mazzy Star's Fade into you. It's so good. His voice is unreal. I also really like Cheer Up Baby, Ice Cream Sundae & Totally. Hope they're around for a very long time & make it big in the States.
Had no idea Bono was his Dad. Trippy, I was listening to in Inhaler the other day and thought at some points that he sounded like Bono and a bit Casablancas.
If you think Elijah sounds like his dad you should SEE him. It's uncanny! I first saw a clip of these guys on Twitter one afternoon around 2:30, got online to look at tour dates and found out they were playing an hour away from me that night. At first I waffled about going because I had to be at work at 7 am the next morning, but I listened to a few more songs and decided I'd be crazy NOT to go. They played in a dive to about 150 people and (despite being a bit hungover from playing CHOB on St. Paddy's the night before) they ROCKED THE HOUSE! So happy I went and I can't wait to see them again.
The boy's song is a lot more polished - and it's a pretty good song. It sounds more like the later U2 stuff to me though. A little bit U2 - Coldplay - who else can we include post-2000? That's not a knock on Inhaler. They are probably a more musically talented group overall. Plus, he lets the guy on keyboards up on stage. U2 keeps theirs under the stage for most shows lol. Maybe I just can't help but judge it that way. However, "Out of Control" is a lot better.
I think you called it correctly. "My Honest Face" is a good tune and shows a lot of potential, but "Out of Control" rocks harder and has more lyrical/musical depth.
Inhaler is an amazing band. My favorite new band. They still fairly new. I check out videos from them in the past or related to them, but never found this one this was before the debut album “It Won’t Always Be Like This” which came out last year 2021. “Out of Control” by U2 and the Inhaler song “My Honest Face” was a great choice for this battle. I’m a huge fan of both bands. I will say this they’re both amazing songs neither one compared to the other sucks. To say that would be an unfair comparison. So I will say this I like the U2 song “Out of Control” Is just a tad bit better, but they’re both Fantastic songs.
Out of Control came out when I was 16, U2 have been my favorite band since Boy dropped in 1980! Eli sounds like his dad, but I hope that doesn’t inhibit Inhaler!
You guys should do U2's "Boy" sometime. It has a few hidden gems. I think Larry's drums powered U2 before The Edge found his sound. And Inhaler sounded great. Although it must be a little of a curse to sound just like you're father.
Inhaler is a good band ... but U2 has Bono. Although Elijah is Bono's son, you have to put yourself in the context of the story of Bono who grew up from below without a mother and basically became a rock star with sheer bravery and charisma. Elijah can't be Bono and that will always be the big difference, even if Inhaler makes great music. As I read in a comment by A.H. , U2 protects us with their charisma and U2 fans feel like protectors of the Inhaler ... excellent comment

Ya I always admire kids who try and follow in their parents footsteps so so difficult!!!
U2 best band ever. Inhaler the band of the future.
Thanks for watching Emilio Garcia Mora!
Dunno bout that especially at live aid
Queen were the band that day

Number one album in the UK, congrats Inhaler you deserve it

Totally understand, They are both great! Excited to see what the future holds for Inhaler!
Great battle and review guys.....and a very, very clever choice by Mark.

I grew up listening to U2 and they are my favorite band ever. I love how Inhaler does not try to sound like them, they have their own sound.
Thanks!
I remember when you guys were at 1k subs. Keep it up, your channel we’ll get big.
Thanks really appreciate it and of course you watching! Stay Safe!
Both bands sound very promising for being 19 year old kids. We'll have to keep tabs on both.
haha true that. That Bono seems like he might have a future!
@Reactions To The Classics Nah , I think Inhaler will go places but that other lot , I'm not so sure .

Great points and I think they are just so young takes a while to find your style. Thanks!
For me, Boy was one of the greatest debut albums ever. Extraordinary songs. Can you hear the Pete Townsend influence in there on the Edge's playing.
Good point. Thanks Chris!
Stuart adamson was a major influence too especially when he was in The Skids

Bono was 20 when this album came out. They were 18 (Larry), 19 (Edge), and 20(Bono and Adam) years of age when the Boy album was released.

The version of Out of Control you played is from the Boy album. The version from U2-3 is less polished - more punk-like.
thanks
They have a bonus single on the album that sounds very much like u2
