Great and obvious idea in relation to the property's location. Just watch the neighbors look on thinking, "wish I had done that!", when the floods hit. Has for the planting/landscaping, how about designing and commissioning some large black planters that are suspended below and sit just below the exterior deck and glass, but above the 'flood water level?....it would definitely visually connect the house with the surrounding lawns etc.
And there are enough plants that withstand regular floodings (a lot of salix for example). So they could use those to at least create some structure and shadow in the „garden“.
I used to live on this road, our neighbour over the river ‘lost’ his car 3 years running, it’s no joke. Our car port was raised so we never had a problem. Most of the time you could get out in a real 4X4 but sometimes you had to keep the car at the station and go out by boat. I used to drive my Dad across the field in my little rigid inflatable boat to take him to the station to go to work.
Alot more houses whether they are in floodplains or not should be built raised up from the ground like this as a protection against flooding which is almost certainly going to happen more often with climate change.
Old buildings/castles with Many steps in the front porch was for thesame purpose, to elevate the building above 100 year floods because if the building lasts long enough, it is just a question of when
@@rachelcookie321 There are plenty of houses on 'stilts' here in very earthquake prone Japan. Not an issue thus far, although Japanese building regulations have strict requirements for a building to be earthquake resistant and there is a lot of know-how here as there is in New Zealand.
Cars go into the garage when the floods come. So the garage has a floor that raises above the water level? Would anyone in their right mind buy that should it ever come onto the market?
Would love to live here… even with the floods. And if I was rich enough to do that anyways, I would add a helipad on the roof, for convenience of course 😅🤣
NSW and Victoria should design their house like this.. no need to clean up after floods and throw away furniture and rebuy and then see it flood again the next year.
I think it’s horrible, it reminds me of a giant porta cabin on stilts. I’d hate my garden ruined every year also. But these people love it, and that’s what counts.
This type of houses on stilts is not a new concept. I have seen these houses in Belize in cental America and in the far Eastern countries like in Malasia,Indonesia etc.
I wonder how they cope with the rising damp associated with water under the structure, there must be a water tight barrier underneath....I would have went double the required height, given the severity of flooding today and electricity, how do they get power when it floods, clean water and sewerage...nice home but it screams of what ifs
These are the typically like Rumah Panggung in Borneo. That why the dayak build typical home like these. Some time 3m to avoid mosquito, i just knew for water flood too. I remember now the lived near river too. But they build with timber.
This is the style I admire the most. Mies Van der Rohe vision changed the world for the better. I just wouldn't want to have been one of his clients. A bit of on point (possibly the point being cliché) furniture mixed with a soft old chair. But there's a little too much of, "we simply must have (insert the expected furnishings list)" but perhaps they're sincere, and it isn't about anything besides just liking Eames, Le Corbusier - Perriand, Castiglioni bros, Saarinen etc.,. Though they're not short a bob or two so perhaps they're original, so are investment pieces. Okay, I'll admit to a bit of modernist envy but there's an art deco piece that caught my eye as well.
I like it! Although, I think that I would have created a parking platform with a ramp up to be able to park the car not only next to an entrance to make carrying in the shopping easier, but also for somewhere to put the car out of a flood's harm. It could have also been used in conjunction with a kind of jetty that would that would in normal weather be enjoyed as a kind of walkway or mini garden pier if you like. Most likely they park their vehicle on higher ground nearby at such times and use the boat to ferry between home and vehicle which is probably a lot cheaper than what I have suggested. A LOT cheaper.
Spectacular: outside and inside. Love the furnitures as well, what a great style they have.
Ggghhhhxxuux

Oh ihxiihhxix
I I iii
How fabulous is that… I love people with imagination and flair.
I saw a house in Tybee Island GA like this, but it was a mobile home on a bunch of 8' stacks of cinderblocks
Britain`s background is so historic and beautiful!
this looks like a traditional Malay house, which was built as such because of rising water from nearby rivers.
I would extent the stairs to the roof and put a roof terrace there...
Nice chilled environment when all is well 😉
A beautiful home with stunning views and built to last with the foresight of the risk the extreme elements of it's environment will throw at it
What a beautiful house. Would love to spend the summer and spring months there 😍

How clever!
That’s a brilliant idea

They can build raised walk bridge to the garage to avoid flooding.
Love the humble confession recognizing the columns existence. Those sneaky little unassuming squares were extremely assuming.
Another beautiful idea would be to have a garage/platform for the car or one that floats the car when flooding starts
If the car is floating then you won’t be able to drive it
🤣
@@rachelcookie321 but at least it won’t be flooded!

I have just written a similar comment myself! Great minds thing alike perhaps!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing!
They can build a bridge / scaffolding to the higher road? No need for small boats then?
Build these in all the flood plains, would solve a lot of problems
usually I don't like modern buildings at all but this one is kinda cool
I LOVE IT. ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY
then build metal walkway that is also suspended up to the nearest road... I guess
Large open plan box next to river.....
Beautiful.
One big flaw we’re doing u park the Bentley during the swell
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE THEY DONE A LOVELY JOB 🏠🙏🕯️
Beautiful

It’s a lot more expensive to do this though and probably not as safe in earthquake prone areas.
Remember when Al gore said we would all be under water by 2012 ? You are being lied to so they can make money out of us
@@rachelcookie321 earthquakes are not generally an issue we have in the UK - flooding, fire or a rare landslide are the biggest risk to our homes.

Sumayah good idea, fly to do the shopping during the flood, heads would turn with envy🤪🤪

how are the footings put into the ground on this build ?
Nice video
They've saved mankind.

I agree, I consider is very unattractive and as I love gardens I couldn't bear it
Kate, you cannot beat nature, so you have to work with it and come up with your best idea, until she stop you from fighting her.

I would love to purchase the house plans for this home.
How do they get the car in and out
So if it floods properly, the corridor will be the length of an Olympic swimming pool.

Its built on a flood plain so accept that their will be a flood of water on the property at some time.
There will be*
INDONESIAN need to think like them for their house in Indonesia
Do an extension garage
Thats what Aussies call a Queenslander..
Does Queensland flood?
Living solutions for wealthy individuals.
Where do they park their car?
There is a reason why houses should never be built on floodplains… Absolutely stupid to disregard
Why has Berkshire been spelt as Barkshire…?
The materials in this building
UMM FYI you can plant tones under that!
It's all about the house and not once a mention of the designer !
Jet ski problem solved
It’s ok but my 3 bed semi in Leeds is much better 😂
I do like an house on stilts.
I think it is a hideous characterless box.
Thats why its modernist. Its not for those with a heart for more traditional abodes.
Berkshire NOT Barkshire
.. Ur not the only ytberim one is well and it's not hard
Saw this ok tiktok
You need a drone to pick up food during floods or a large freezer with frozen bread. Get some long life milk. Enjoy your dream

It’s a modern Noah ark
Why the f*ck two people need a house of that size??

What a horrible box on stilts. Ruins the landscape and scenery. Whoever gave them permission to build it should be sacked.
Terrible ... Looks like a giant box without any soul ..
I cannot stand this overated prat . Up his own very wide and capacious sphincter
i guess fuck the car right?
Beautiful.
So beautiful 😻
