Best Way To Feed Round Bales of hay is to....watch the video to find out. I show you both ways I feed hay with the John Deere 5100e tractor. If you love your cows feed hay this way. This farming hack does not work for feeding square bales of hay.

Best way is with that unroller we just got. Everybody gets to pick the best stuff out of the row of not top quality hay, no eye problems from dust etc., no mud ring around the bail and after they eat the good out they have a nice warmer spot to lay down in thats not snow. Also any "waste" mulches the field for next season.

I don't miss this, lol. We used to roll ours out.
Just cut our netting or bailing wire, then rolled it out with the tractor spike.

Got your loader I see. When John puts hay out on our place he places one like you did and unrolls another with the thing Eddie mentioned. They seemed to immediately lay down on the unrolled one during this snow. I’ll have to see what that do when there’s no snow.

Eddie is right. If you a) have the bale unroller and b) have enough head to eat it all the unroller is undoubtedly better. If you are using the hay rings….set your bale on end like this.
