The original Metroid is on the NES emulator, Super Metroid is on the SNES emulator, Metroid Dread obviously, Metroid Samus Returns is on the GBC emulator, and we’re getting Metroid Fusion on the GBA emulator… and the shocker that Metroid Prime Remastered is available now. If ever the stars aligned and anyone wanted to play through the Metroid series and a spin-off. It. Is. Now. My friend
Ghost Trick remaster is huge because it's a cult classic game that went from $20 used to $150 used during the pandemic and stayed there. I'm excited to pick it up
I went crazy after hearing Fantasy Life, one of my underground favorite games that tanked in terms of sales that I had thought was going to go nowhere, almost 10 years later, we get a sequel title on a main console of all things. I haven't been this caught off guard by a Switch Direct since Link's Awakening
Glad I’m not the only one who feels the same! I was damn near certain that the franchise was dead, so seeing it alive and getting a sequel that’s coming out *this year* was such an awesome feeling on top of all the other great announcements!
Metroid Prime remastered looks genuinely incredible. I've been getting emotional playing it because it literally looks like how my nostalgia remembers it. It's so good y'all
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam has made my year. Zelda is my favorite franchise ever. Metroid is also a top runner. Those announcements didn’t hold a candle to Professor Layton. This is easily my favorite Direct ever.
Literally said the same thing! I was mostly hyped to see new BOTW news but honestly, the layton announcement was so unexpected and it totally knocked me out of my seat. I still cant contain my excitement!
I am so confused this direct was easily one of the worst ever.. all we got was pikmin footage that showed nothing of note, a remastered game everyone expected and more footage of a game we knew a lot about already
Never mind the year, Layton has made my decade here. Had to leave the room and miss the rest of the direct, I haven't cried this much at an announcement before.
This Direct was literally Nintendo saying "So, did you guys see that video Arlo just put out about this being the last year of Switch and we're not gonna release much? We'll show him. Get out the 'List of Things Arlo Wants' and announce like 5 of them in this direct, just to mess with him!"
When something appears in a direct, I can confidently say to myself "someone is hyped about this." There have been very few instances where I believed something didn't deserve its slot in the show. Other companies tend to have way more filler that makes the presentation a chore instead of an event.
Even things like Fashion Dreamer, which is essentially a sequel to Style Savvy! Fans have been waiting for a good 6 years for a new game and we finally have it! It probably looked pretty forgettable to most, but even that has the whole community hyped in a way we haven’t been in years. EVERYTHING has a fanbase, for real.
If there is ever get either a remaster/port of Fantasy Golf Pangya from PSP or a new Pangya game, I will die from joy being able to play a good golf game again.
It’s weird I was watching the direct with a group of people waiting for 1 or 2 specific announcements that didn’t happen. However, everyone still saw something in the direct they liked.
I'm SO happy about the Fantasy Life sequel, that game came out at a time when I was going through an existential crisis about my future and making some big decisions and it was just.. EXACTLY what I needed to play.
You did a good job highlighting announcements that went over my head. I didn't understand the importance of. But your context helped me get even more excited! Thanks bud
According to the product description, We Love Katamari has a new endless mode!! Its already probably the best in the series due to the variety, the new quality of life changes are amazing.
i was freaking out over pikmin 4, we love katamari reroll + royal reverie, samba de amigo, splatoon, and layton! + more but that goes to show just how good of a direct this is, so much to be happy and look forward to!
I just played the sea of stars demo and, as someone who isn't super into turn based combat type rpgs, I *loved* it! They added an interactive component to the formula and the characters move quite fast which makes the gameplay feel a lot more dynamic than the classic 'push a button and wait for the animation to finish'. And of course the game is super pretty.
I love that the effect this direct has on people is crazy, every reaction I’ve see is just them being so overwhelmed by Nintendo throwing bombshell after bombshell
That direct was a dream alright, a dream come true. I was filled with pure joy, because I knew Arlo would love this, and his reactions were mote joyous than I could have imagined. _Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime: Remastered,_ and _The Lengend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,_ it really is like this direct was made just for him. They all look like they're going to be great, and I can't wait to hear what he thinks of these games when they're released.
@@awildmoose6541 I mean that was the point? It was all games coming out in the first half of the year, it’s not like you could really announce a big game in that time frame

I was so pleasantly surprised to see a Fantasy Life sequel. I used to play it a lot as my "bedtime game" before tomodachi life and miitopia took that spot. I hope the sequel is just like the first game where you can 100% ignore the main story and just spend all your time having fun grinding all your skills. Definitely getting it when it comes out :)
Seeing that the Layton series isn't dead brought me an absurd amount of joy lol I'm so excited for that. And a new Pikmin is always exciting, especially cuz it seems like they may be mixing the good designs/mechanics of both Pikmin 2 and 3. Like, seeing what is most likely underground dungeons again got me ridiculously hype 😁
I’m just so thrilled to see new enemies in Tears of the Kingdom. I was originally hoping to just see what the new spring season of Splatoon would bring but we got so much more.
Fun fact: This is the first ever Nintendo Direct that doesn't have a video of Mario standing in a dark alley way with his eyes becoming more bloodshot and hyper realistic and he starts running towards the screen at the end of the direct!
As nice as some people may find this, I personally miss the 20 uninterrupted minutes of Mario screaming with blood pouring from his tear ducts and the camera is ever so slowly zooming closer and closer
I was watching the Direct and when they showed the puppy ferrying the Pikmin across the water I thought Arlo must be losing it about now. It's really great to get this much good news all at once!
Best Nintendo Direct in a long time!!! I am a happy fan! Happy, Happy, Happy! Now Arlo is blessing us with "so many, so many, so many upcoming videos!" Love you, Arlo!!
All of us thirty seconds into watching the direct: Ah, this is Arlo's day. I've played Fantasy Life repeatedly over the last several years, and let me tell you if this sequel lives up to that game, definitely pick it up!! The whole Fantasy Life reddit had a collective stroke about the reveal.
Arlo, we are linked in spirit in so many ways, lol. I remember your debut and people being a little on edge about a monster host and I was like, this guy gets it and what a brilliant production. But I swear, the more Arlo makes content and I run across it, the more I am shocked on how close his perspective is to my own. We would definitely be friends in real life, maybe we were in the past and I don't even realize it. But like, love to see the Pikmin love. I'm a biologist and game developer, Pikmin played a part in that. I came here for the Pikmin reaction but loved the rest of the review. Katamari is also awesome, fantasy life super, are you kidding me new Zelda? Look at all the detective games! We never use to get those! Shout out to the metroid tsunami that is building, etrian odyssey is cool, though I have 3 already, heads up those things are hard core, it just goes on and on. The game boy collection, wowsa they really did pick the best of the best, especially the upcoming items. Arlo is right, golden sun is amazing, but who caught the pokemon tgc game? That thing was next to impossible to find in stores when it dropped. Birdo in kart, it's about time. Yoshi island, awesome theme.... But Pikmin, poochi meets Pikmin, heck yeah. I assume it will eat a lot of Pikmin slots to bring along, but how fun in additional friendly creatures as a concept, and of course kopi would try to colonize. Get hyped! Open with Pikmin, close with Zelda... Unbelievable.
Your comment was what made me realize that was Rex (partly because I was trying not to watch too hard cause I haven't finished 3 yet but also because holy SHIT PUBERTY-)
Wait I just realized the splatoon campaign is the opposition to chaos from the final splatfest in splatoon 2, since chaos won, we got the whole anarchy aesthetic, but now we get to explore side “order”
Can't wait for your Pikmin trailer video. Caves are coming back? Treasures with upgrades (I think)? Going out at night?? Summer release date?! Dog friend?!? It was so good.
honestly it would be hilarious if the thumbnail had the game theory logo added considering the title -sincerely, my extra sleep deprived brain finding humor in the most random, inane, and insane concepts
The direct really hecking popped off. Edit: Ghost Trick is REALLY REALLY GOOD and I'm so so happy that it's no longer confined to the DS/iOS app store. It really deserves to be played by more people.
I watched todays’ direct hoping for totk & pikmin 4 news and then audibly GASPED & said “NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY” when Professor Layton showed up on my screen 😭
It's a really cool series, the exploration and mystery and atmosphere of the world are incredible, not to mention the music. The happy bubbly exterior with the darker undertones is part of what makes it really cool. 2 is my personal favourite.
The Layton reveal made my heart skip a beat, I can't believe it. From having Level-5 just completely disappear from the West, to having them drop 3 NEW GAMES(One of them is a new IP too) As a fan of everything Level-5 has done, I am just so happy.
Judging by the cuts in the small bit we get to see of Side Order, this may very well be a playable version of Marina escaping to the 'surface' of their world, where the Inklings live. I don't think the playable is her though, simply because the skin tone seems a bit lighter. I know for a fact that that city they are in is Dead though, because that's what dead coral looks like, bleached bones pretty much.
First off, you probably said it jokingly, but you asked if this was even a good video. Yes it is. I love hearing people's passion and enthusiasm, even, or especially, when it is so high they feel they are rambling or not making sense. It's infectious and I love it. Secondly, the direct is probably the best direct I have seen. I really wanted that trailer that told you what the game would be like to play for Tears of the Kingdom and they gave us exactly that. Sea of Stars wasn't even on my radar but now that I know about it I can't wait to play it. I am a total sucker for that art style and it looks gorgeous. Ever since I played Samus Returns on the 3DS I have not been able to wait for new Metroid games and old ones to be remastered, so a shadow drop of Prime is insane. The only problem is that I am currently replaying MHW: Iceborne (one of my top games of all time) so it will have to wait, but I have already bought it and it's ready to go. Splatoon's hub as DLC is weird but the story mode as usual looks insane. Can't wait to see what they do with it. And a little bonus one on top with Have a Nice Death, which looks super interesting and has a great art style and animations. But what really sells this as the best direct is that even the things they showed that I am not interested in personally are really important to a lot of people and look to be super high quality and that makes me happy for them. Pikmin 4 looks amazing for Pikmin fans, the Mario Kart DLC is new and keeps people surprised and hyped, Katamari fans got exactly what they wanted, Professor Layton is not a dead series, the list is enormous. Almost everything in the direct was something that made people really, really happy, which is why this direct is legendary.
Pikmin 4 to start the direct gave me straight shock. I almost forgot it had been teased previously. Metroid Prime Remastered had me hopping in place like a child. Tears of the Kingdom made many happy oohs and aahs and excitement for how well it's been handled.
I couldn't believe what I was watching and see so much I want. Professor Layton caught me off guard. The Prime remaster has always been rumored about its nice to see it confirmed. I'm ready for May!
I was so happy to see We Love Katamari reroll and how excited you got cause that’s how excited I was. That game was my childhood and I can’t wait to play such a good game all over again
This has to be one of the most packed directs, you have practically everything here, Remakes, Remasters, Gameboy/Color/Advance, Updates, DLC, New Games, and Shadow Drops, unless you're just not a fan of these types of games, then there's something here for everyone to enjoy, what a great way to start this year 👍
The ONLY thing that hurts a tad is still no new DK announced man. I will continue to be patient and be excited for everything announced at this direct because, don't get me wrong, it was really really good. I just want my favorite series to come back. Other than that nitpick this was an absolute banger of a direct.
I really want Arlo to come over and know the joys of Xenoblade, but if he were to already be a fan today, the shock of the DLC storyline might have been the straw that broke the puppet’s brain.
It is a damn shame. Honestly compared to the vague trailers of Xenoblade 3 and Zelda. Xenoblade has more to excite me. Mainly because after all these trailers we still don’t know the basic idea of what is happening in Tears of the Kingdom. And that’s kind of annoying. And it’s hard to get excited.
I'm honestly shocked that a Direct without a single brand new first-party game has gotten this much love, but evidently that's not needed for everyone. Personally, I'm pretty significantly saddened by the current lineup for 2023 after today, but I suppose I seem alone on that. Guess this just gives me time to finally play the other Pikmin games before 4 releases.
I enjoyed it because I didn't expect anything new from Nintendo, but I'm surprised there's no new Mario announcement considering the Mario Movie is on its way.
A great direct, love Metroid Prime, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Zelda announcements, GBA games are great, it was loads of cool. I gotta say I am a touch surprised with the Mario movie coming out that no Mario games seem to be on their way as a tie in, but that’s fine, we got loads of cool stuff to play!

It. Is. Now. My friend
give it a whirl, you'll enjoy them both.
Ghost Trick remaster is huge because it's a cult classic game that went from $20 used to $150 used during the pandemic and stayed there. I'm excited to pick it up
"There are days when no pikmin, but today we had pikmin, so good direct"
Good review
I went crazy after hearing Fantasy Life, one of my underground favorite games that tanked in terms of sales that I had thought was going to go nowhere, almost 10 years later, we get a sequel title on a main console of all things. I haven't been this caught off guard by a Switch Direct since Link's Awakening
Glad I’m not the only one who feels the same! I was damn near certain that the franchise was dead, so seeing it alive and getting a sequel that’s coming out *this year* was such an awesome feeling on top of all the other great announcements!
Dreams really can come true!
Metroid Prime remastered looks genuinely incredible. I've been getting emotional playing it because it literally looks like how my nostalgia remembers it. It's so good y'all
So glad to hear this!! Cannot wait to play it all over again 😭🥳
I never expected it and thats what made it do amazing
I am so confused this direct was easily one of the worst ever.. all we got was pikmin footage that showed nothing of note, a remastered game everyone expected and more footage of a game we knew a lot about already
I was prepared for the extra content of Return to Dreamland deluxe and thought it was my highlight, but then a 20 second teaser topped that
Never mind the year, Layton has made my decade here.
Minish Cap and Golden Sun literally shaped me as a person, they defined the kinds of games I would enjoy for the rest of my life.
This was an amazing direct! Arlo was right in saying there was something for everybody. Strong start for Nintendo this year…
When something appears in a direct, I can confidently say to myself "someone is hyped about this." There have been very few instances where I believed something didn't deserve its slot in the show. Other companies tend to have way more filler that makes the presentation a chore instead of an event.
People who love RPGs must be having a field day, so even though I don’t care about those games, I know other people are over the moon about it. 😄
That's exactly what I thought after the direct, there's really something here for everyone
If there is ever get either a remaster/port of Fantasy Golf Pangya from PSP or a new Pangya game, I will die from joy being able to play a good golf game again.
@@ouenjiwastaken Found a fellow Stylist 👀
It’s weird I was watching the direct with a group of people waiting for 1 or 2 specific announcements that didn’t happen. However, everyone still saw something in the direct they liked.
I'm SO happy about the Fantasy Life sequel, that game came out at a time when I was going through an existential crisis about my future and making some big decisions and it was just.. EXACTLY what I needed to play.
Right? Never thought a sequel would happen in a million years, i think i started hyperventilating when i saw
Same here! The first one is so good
So happy 🤩 Right before the direct I was wishing this game into existence and it worked ❤❤❤
@@danisanerd The first one is trash. It's just repeating the same thing over and over. Ever oasis however..
You did a good job highlighting announcements that went over my head. I didn't understand the importance of. But your context helped me get even more excited! Thanks bud
According to the product description, We Love Katamari has a new endless mode!! Its already probably the best in the series due to the variety, the new quality of life changes are amazing.
All I could think while watching the direct, was how much I wanted to see Arlo’s reactions
People are losing their mind about professor Layton but I'm over here screaming that we're finally getting another Fantasy Life
i was freaking out over pikmin 4, we love katamari reroll + royal reverie, samba de amigo, splatoon, and layton! + more but that goes to show just how good of a direct this is, so much to be happy and look forward to!
I love Arby’s and his Nintendo content
Arby's! We have the meats!
I love Arby's too
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Because I'm thinkin Arby's.
"Promise me you never eat at Arby's!"
@@Balloon_Boy_Jigglypuff ooooooo I'm fucken dying 💀
I just played the sea of stars demo and, as someone who isn't super into turn based combat type rpgs, I *loved* it! They added an interactive component to the formula and the characters move quite fast which makes the gameplay feel a lot more dynamic than the classic 'push a button and wait for the animation to finish'. And of course the game is super pretty.
I love that the effect this direct has on people is crazy, every reaction I’ve see is just them being so overwhelmed by Nintendo throwing bombshell after bombshell
Let's be real here. I think everyone was specifically waiting for Arlo's reaction.
yep we were!!!
i saw the opener with pikmin and immediately thought "oh arlo will love this"
@@praalgraf Sameee
Not really, he usually has the most cynical takes for being someone who tries to have a fun persona
i was foo busy getting hyped myself
That direct was a dream alright, a dream come true. I was filled with pure joy, because I knew Arlo would love this, and his reactions were mote joyous than I could have imagined. _Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime: Remastered,_ and _The Lengend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,_ it really is like this direct was made just for him. They all look like they're going to be great, and I can't wait to hear what he thinks of these games when they're released.
Jesus Dan are you just everywhere???? XDDD
TEARS OF THE KINGDOM THO
Why are we all acting like the direct was good? Like it was easily one of the worst in years.. yeah we saw stuff but it was all games we knew about
@@awildmoose6541 That’s literally what I’m saying the only completely new thing shown that wasn’t dlc for something or the gb announcement was prime
@@awildmoose6541 I mean that was the point? It was all games coming out in the first half of the year, it’s not like you could really announce a big game in that time frame
@@Your_Native_Mothman nope. it was "mostly" games coming out in the first half and they say that with EVERY DIRECT and have done so for years, yet they always announce stuff thats faar away. The direct was shit, no matter how you try to twist it to defend the mega corporation.
My jaw just dropped seeing Layton, I didn't even make a sound. Just total bewilderment that he's actually getting another game.
I’m just so thrilled to see new enemies in Tears of the Kingdom. I was originally hoping to just see what the new spring season of Splatoon would bring but we got so much more.
My favourite thing about this direct was 3 friggin Level-5 announcements. Yokai Watch Fans finally got some semblance of hope
all three of us yokai watch fans are hype asf rn
I'm hoping they eventually localize YKW4, for sure. Please, Level 5.
I’ve been coping for the last few years that it might someday get localized, and now I actually have a glimmer of hope
I finally accepted that we wouldn't get 4 and then this happens, you can't do this to me level 5.
@@ilikesloths8288 I'm going to remember all three of you from now on, just like how I keep Kid Icarus fans in my prayers.
Fun fact: This is the first ever Nintendo Direct that doesn't have a video of Mario standing in a dark alley way with his eyes becoming more bloodshot and hyper realistic and he starts running towards the screen at the end of the direct!
That's because this time he was standing right behind you the whole time
@@davidbritt5020 can confirm, I'm Mario and I'm standing right behind you
@@xoxo.pochacco 0/10, lacked to conviction to actually change their profile picture to Mario for the joke.
To be honest, I don't play video games that much anymore, but I still really enjoy listening to Arlo talk about them
Best Nintendo Direct in a long time!!!
Honestly, the whole time all I could think was "Arlo's eatin tonight!!" More than the cookie monster lmao
And no Mario to be seen......sadge
Seeing Shulk and Rex together in the same room was already enough for me. This direct just had so many amazing moments
Your comment was what made me realize that was Rex (partly because I was trying not to watch too hard cause I haven't finished 3 yet but also because holy SHIT PUBERTY-)
They already met in Xenoblade 2's DLC
@@mr.awesome6011 The Land of Challenge stuff isn't canon, and it's more that we haven't seen them in what's about 15 years their time

Wait I just realized the splatoon campaign is the opposition to chaos from the final splatfest in splatoon 2, since chaos won, we got the whole anarchy aesthetic, but now we get to explore side “order”
I audibly gasped SO MANY TIMES during this direct! I never would have expected so many goodies in one video.
I’m so excited to learn more about the 4 new captains in Pikmin 4’s crew!!!
Can't wait for your Pikmin trailer video. Caves are coming back? Treasures with upgrades (I think)? Going out at night?? Summer release date?! Dog friend?!? It was so good.
honestly it would be hilarious if the thumbnail had the game theory logo added considering the title
-sincerely, my extra sleep deprived brain finding humor in the most random, inane, and insane concepts
The thing I cared the most about was the Baten Kaitos I & II port. I've been trying to play those games for ages.
the last 10 minutes of this direct were absolutely insane i cannot believe it
12:12 This video is so good Arlo, I literally can’t wait to watch the other direct videos you’ll put out ESPECIALLY that Zelda one
The direct really hecking popped off.
Edit: Ghost Trick is REALLY REALLY GOOD and I'm so so happy that it's no longer confined to the DS/iOS app store. It really deserves to be played by more people.
I played some of Ghost Trick on iOS before and it's just a great game! Honestly one of the highlights for this direct!
yessssss
I watched todays’ direct hoping for totk & pikmin 4 news and then audibly GASPED & said “NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY” when Professor Layton showed up on my screen 😭
Arlo's excitement for Pikmin 4 has me convinced I need to check this franchise out.
Start with the original pikmin on emulator. It's a short game, but an absolute masterpiece.
It's a really cool series, the exploration and mystery and atmosphere of the world are incredible, not to mention the music. The happy bubbly exterior with the darker undertones is part of what makes it really cool. 2 is my personal favourite.
Nothing had me shaking with glee like the Xenoblade 3 and Octopath 2 reveals, but there was so much consistent quality that… agh.
Since Level-5 is back, I’m PRAYING for Yo-Kai Watch’s return!
It really feels that way. The Game Boy stuff alone feels like it didn't happen with out of place all of it felt compared to other NSO announcements.
The Layton reveal made my heart skip a beat, I can't believe it. From having Level-5 just completely disappear from the West, to having them drop 3 NEW GAMES(One of them is a new IP too)
As a fan of everything Level-5 has done, I am just so happy.
I have an incredibly strong feeling they're going to bring gamecube games to the mix and I really do hope they do it .
I literally just finished watching your reaction video, and dear god that was beautiful. Your unbridled joy is the serotonin blast I needed.
I assumed we were playing as the agent again, they've got her hair and everything
Hearing Arlo so happy makes me happy.
Agreed. It'll be so much fun.
This has to be one of the most packed directs, you have practically everything here, Remakes, Remasters, Gameboy/Color/Advance, Updates, DLC, New Games, and Shadow Drops, unless you're just not a fan of these types of games, then there's something here for everyone to enjoy, what a great way to start this year 👍
Crazy thought:
What if the Octoling in Side Order isn’t Marina, but actually Dedf1sh? The could’ve known each other.
This guy is becoming a legend. He was already great but the Pikmin and Metroid reactions are making him stand out in all the best ways.
Becoming?
You should see his reaction to Metroid Prime 4 from years ago..
The ONLY thing that hurts a tad is still no new DK announced man. I will continue to be patient and be excited for everything announced at this direct because, don't get me wrong, it was really really good. I just want my favorite series to come back. Other than that nitpick this was an absolute banger of a direct.
Hey I'm still waiting for Fossil Fighters to. Overall the Direct was good!
Hey I'm still waiting for Fossil Fighters to. Overall the Direct was good!
I really want Arlo to come over and know the joys of Xenoblade, but if he were to already be a fan today, the shock of the DLC storyline might have been the straw that broke the puppet’s brain.
I've re-watched it countless times now. It's so good I'm afraid I'll be pinched and wake up.
Honestly, I’m glad I jumped off the Xenoblade train because that announcement is emblematic of what turned me away from 2.
I don't really see what about the trailer is emblematic of 2. Aside from Rex but he's got a completely new look people love.
@@FireFury190 2 tried to tie itself to the narrative of 1. That’s what turned me away.
Lots of good stuff, of course Metroid and golden sun. Also the level 5 comeback. After a hiatus they presented at least 3 games in the direct!

uff, yes :(
I was about to cry when they announced the Fantasy Life game and then Layton arrived right after and I did cry

Nope, you're not alone. I really don't see the hype around it. I think people have just accepted Nintendo's mediocrity as the new normal
@@Tubuxis You have to be joking
I enjoyed it because I didn't expect anything new from Nintendo, but I'm surprised there's no new Mario announcement considering the Mario Movie is on its way.
Nah most people understand that we're at the end of the Switch generation.
I can't believe I haven't subscribed to this guy up until now
Your reaction to the Mario cast in 2021 had me dying and your reaction to Pikmin 4's reveal last year was so wholesome
