A message to those who have been around since the project started. Sorry for the long wait! I’ve been working very hard on the project & been trying to get a release out as soon as possible. Some of you may be wondering why the story & scenery is different from what has been shown in trailers. This is due to me changing the story & many elements involved with the project. The direction of the previous version of the project was very convoluted & the story was shoehorning a lot of elements from half life into each other. The changes I have made have streamlined the story & settings of the project(s). Originally I planned to release VR levels in tandem with animated episodes - this has now changed & the VR maps & animated series are separate projects. This may sound like bad news at first - but trust me it's for the better. The VR maps now have a more separate & focused story, than that of the animated series. I will be releasing more information regarding the VR project very soon. As well as releasing an archive of all the old animations, cut content, and future plans for Half Life content. Great job! I especially love the combination of all the different overwatch voice languages (I think that the russian one is more depressing though). Although the use of episode 2's voice is a little odd (if you try to incorporate your story into existing half-life lore, since the voice in episode 2 is a different iteration of the overwatch after the citadel was destroyed). Another minor nitpick is that, as far as I know, these combine generals were already severely genetically modified, and retain very little of their humanity (but I may be wrong), thus they won't really be talking to themselves or showing fear. But I think that these things are nitpicks only severe lore-nerds like me will point out. Great job overall, an interesting premise and a nice implementation of the poison headcrab zombie! Keep it up!
@@mistersmirnov2446 Glad you like it! Alot of these minor things can/will be fixed when i put out the full episode. New lines for the captain will be recorded to show less emotion as well as improved vocoder sfx. Alot of the sfx are pretty rushed - as I wanted to get something out before the end of 2024. I'll be getting help with the sound for future parts/episodes so expect an increase in quality in the next uploads!
This is genuinely good stuff, but i hope the voice and how the Ordinal vocoder and way of speech is a placeholder. It comes across as if he isn't brainwashed. This my only nitpick, he just sounds like a guy and not someone whose personality was hollowed out and filled a computer with (almost) pure levels of emotionlessness. They can panic, they can feel pain, but outside of being about to die, they don't emote much, coming across as almost bored of every firefight they are on. Presentation outside of that is genuinely impressive, keep at it! The Combine UI in the visor is awesome.
@@ryanwilhelm45 thanks, apologies if i was harsh. You could definitively give him a personality via confidence similar to some lines in Alyx: Hammer effective. Code zero niner. Contaminant at low value. Spikes ineffective. Target is unskilled. Spikes ineffective. Target is unskilled. etc. It can be done but it needs effort. Like writing a robot. I recommend looking in the Combine Overwiki for line ideas on their Quotes page.
This is really amazing, This should have more likes, But one thing you can maybe work out is that OTA, Grunts, Ordinals, Wallhammers, And Supressors, Dont have feelings, They wont use swear words. They will talk more robotically. Example: [OVERWATCH]: {Mission failure will result in off-world Relocation.} [ORDINAL/CAPTAIN]: {COPY THAT, REQUESTING ALL UNITS REFRESH AND RESOLVE.} Personally i think the grunts have a little bit of personality left in them, So grunts would probably use those words a little, They arent perfect yet. But yes, This was perfect.
@@SlashBolt Could be a tiny nod to HECU grunts. Could also be hinting that the Overwatch soldiers retain some of their human impulses, such as panicked reactions. That said, I don't believe the Overwatch units talk or even think like edgy Detective Noir protagonists.

Glad you like it! There are no plans for making a discord server for the project currently- but I will for sure be posting behind the scenes footage & extra content around the project - as well as updates and WIPS as I work on it. I may make a website once the full release is done but that is much further down the line!
Me too - I really hope valve will one day make a combine focused game. Maybe something like star wars republic commando, where you can order your squad to do objectives, help you, etc. It would be so much fun to fight rebels, zombies and ant lions with a team. Most likely not gonna happen but fingers crossed lol.

Overwatch soldiers in Half Life 2 will use expletives like "SH*T!" when a grenade lands near them and that takes place after HL:Alyx
